Re: Friday's Secret Life: People do this every time one of the characters refers to "Miss Cleo," so--I just want you to know that I'm not trying to hint that you have to call me that. I'm not a TV hotline psychic or the little old lady down the street or anything. Plain "Cleo" is just fine.

Also, if you feel creative in the comments or something, this is precisely what folks created [livejournal.com profile] slodfans for. I mean, fanfic of fanfic will probably destroy the universe, but that's what it's there for. (Newest post: Icons!)

(This afternoon: more guerilla photography, lest I get busted taking pictures of vintage toys again. "Is that--" "NO!" "--one of my forks?" "... Maybe." I did discover that the NECA action figures do have a bit more bendability than I had originally thought. I also put two characters close together in the same shot for the first time and it is TERRIFYING. Like something out of Gulliver's Travels, for real. Anyway. That'll probably go up tomorrow.)

I've rambled on too long already, so: remind me to tell you what I ended up doing to rescue my hair for the next chatty/linky post.

Meanwhile, I totally, deplorably forgot to link the big first-anniversary Made of Fail episode when it came out; there's also a poll up for you to weigh in as to whether you like the new intro better than the old one. (I'll be guesting on the next epsiode, which will be Harry Potter-themed.)

Also-also, from [livejournal.com profile] lightlack: "I was wondering if in one of your future linkspam posts, you might be able to post something about this story in the LA Times about a very young girl with severe schizophrenia. I don't know this family personally, but they're friends of a friend, and after I read the article I wanted to help spread the story, in case somebody out there with connections might know of some resources that could help this little girl out."

It's been a bad week, in terms of the depression thing. I'm just at a point where I'm afraid to talk about it. I finally let my mother in on the severity of it, and she immediately went into I JUST WANT TO FIX IT mode. And she knows she did, and she knows she can't. BUT OMG IS THERE ANYTHING SHE CAN DO TO FIX IT? NO REALLY, IS THERE? I've made about six different attempts at this paragraph and backspaced them all. My inner Elinor is flaring up and I'm afraid to say anything about how I feel now, because mostly I feel moldy and selfish and unmotivated on the best of days, and hellaciously cranky/stupidly weepy on the worst. And I am so, so afraid that if I don't post regularly enough (mmm, aged news! Delicious), readers are going to wander away, but I know I have to hold off if that's what I need to do. And meanwhile, I want to talk about this the way I usually talk about depression, but I just--can't. I don't know. Maybe I'll do a voice post or something--I feel like y'all would need to hear from my actual tone of voice that I'm not falling to pieces over this. It's just... heavy.

And please know that even when I'm not posting, I'm flagging stories for later, not all of which I even end up using. So really, I am keeping up with things, and if I don't compile a linkspam, you can still see what's going on there, if you want.

Re: Tonner SDCC exclusives: They're apparently going to be selling whatever's leftover on the direct site, so I think I'm going to try that (or eBay) rather than ask an unknowable number of readers to try to track down a slightly variant Tonner Edward. As much as I appreciate y'all offering--and, I mean, I did ask--I'm just not sure how that would not end up being a total clusterfuck, since no one would know if anyone else had managed to get one, and we'd end up, with, like, seven.

Also: they're going to have a Black Canary exclusive as well.

Also-also: I think I have found the Uhura I want.

Y'all, I don't wanna do a damn thing tonight. It took me this long to do a simple linkspam, Adam Lambert's got steel cage shoulder pads on, and I haven't even had dinner yet.

I had dinner and then took a hot shower and that was apparently a baaaad idea because I'm about to fall asleep right here at my desk. So, before I pass out:

A few things up front:

The new Made of Fail podcast is up!

Re: "Christmas in April": After some discussion on the last SLOD entry, I think we've decided that the green pegasus is named Medley, not Melody. Also: damn, y'all like you some My Little Ponies. I had no idea people still loved them so much, and I expected to be roundly mocked for still having mine.

(OMG THE BLUE PONY WITH THE FISH IS SO PRETTY! and also does not have dead, black eyes)

(OMG PWNIES.)

A couple of icons I loved but forgot to mention a while back: In case of explushination, break glass; a fever of 100 and werewolf.

>> I've been fluctuating between listless and bubbly, which is weird. Like, not even in a manic-depressive way (I don't think?), just--you know how puppies will romp around and then fall over and sleep for fifteen minutes, then get up and do it again? Kind of like that.

>> While I was in the shower yesterday, I came up with a new, punched-up ending to my Black Ribbon series--the ending of the eighth book--that will (I think, I hope) blow people's minds. Possibly they will throw the book across the room, which I highly look forward to. Of course, we'll never know until we get there, and even if I finished the first book TODAY and sold it tomorrow, that eighth book could be ten years away. Which is kind of why I want it on record now, that I came up with the new ending today. For... some reason. Posterity, I guess.

>> For some reason, this really makes me laugh. I might have even posted it before, who knows:

Back that way: Iorek finally gets his skyfoil (with pictures!); the Faramirs read Twilight; Valentine's plans are made.

I'm behind on the Snack Deathmatch! Today: Apple pie vs. peach pie.

I am behind on so, so much, actually. Particularly the linkspam. And discussing the bush fires (which we will get to in greater length this weekend. Again: The Red Cross). I spent much of the day sneezing, strangely. And I'm an hour late on getting dinner because I passed out napwise from five to seven. So I'm not feeling so much with the good right now, I guess.

God, my jaw is killing me (left side). Tension, I guess. Anyway, Sister Girl came home from the podiatrist and now she has a "flayed Achilles tendon," so I'm pretty much just waiting for the other shoe to drop and fall on my head (so to speak). Mom's foot's doing reasonably okay, though.

Alabama Mayor Charged With Fraud; Mayor arrested on bribery, other charges; Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford enters not-guilty plea, is released. Given that this is the same mayor who wanted to spend a shitload of money nominating Birmingham FOR THE OLYMPICS (as if we even had enough hotels to deal with that) and moved a downtown dome-building project OUT TO THE DOG TRACK to benefit his cronies, I am pleased by these developments.

Fairly productive day--a long slow slog, but I kept on keepin' on. I mean, my eyelid's started twitching again, but what're you gonna do.

Today's journal flashback: Van Helsing in Fifteen Minutes, because that's pretty much what started everything. And, you know, Halloween and stuff. Speaking of which, I have something fun planned for tomorrow, if I can get it all to work.

Meanwhile, the dogs went crazy yesterday evening while everyone thought someone else was watching them and they tore a large strip of wallpaper off near the kitchen window. Which means that if we can't match the wallpaper (we probably can't), we'll have to re-paper the entire kitchen. You know, because we have the money or the fortitude to deal with that right now. Also, they ATE THE WALLPAPER, WHAT THE HELL. So now we're going to have to get a second crate (they're too big to both fit in the old one) and crate them during the day because I can't watch them and get work done, which hurts my heart but guess what? It's not like we can let them run around and destroy the house, either--they've already acquired a taste for magazines as it is. Fnarr.

Total change of subject: can anyone recommend a good, free music player/program for my computer that is NOT iTunes? Yahoo Jukebox has decided to suck hosewater since they killed Y! Unlimited and tried to send everyone over to Rhapsody, WHICH IS NOT FREE, leaving the player a shell of what it once was. I downloaded Media Monkey and it seems okay... )

Number of times I walked Pete, who I was dogsitting: 6.

Number of things I got done today: ZERO.

It's amazing how not getting anything done can leave you so tired. Either that, or it's the fact that I was up all night with an upset stomach. (Oh, that.)

Hmm. Today's flashback omg help I am running out of entries: Let's go with the post I wrote on Melville's Pierre, a book so bad that critics at the time actually told him to stop writing. ("And then I find out that that's not even the incest the professor was talking about.")

All right: easily skippable Twi-spam. Most of it I wrote last night, which is why there's a difference in enthusiasm between this section and the one below. Again: being up all night sick will do that to you.
