Re: Friday's Secret Life: People do this every time one of the characters refers to "Miss Cleo," so--I just want you to know that I'm not trying to hint that you have to call me that. I'm not a TV hotline psychic or the little old lady down the street or anything. Plain "Cleo" is just fine.

Also, if you feel creative in the comments or something, this is precisely what folks created [livejournal.com profile] slodfans for. I mean, fanfic of fanfic will probably destroy the universe, but that's what it's there for. (Newest post: Icons!)

(This afternoon: more guerilla photography, lest I get busted taking pictures of vintage toys again. "Is that--" "NO!" "--one of my forks?" "... Maybe." I did discover that the NECA action figures do have a bit more bendability than I had originally thought. I also put two characters close together in the same shot for the first time and it is TERRIFYING. Like something out of Gulliver's Travels, for real. Anyway. That'll probably go up tomorrow.)

I've rambled on too long already, so: remind me to tell you what I ended up doing to rescue my hair for the next chatty/linky post.

Meanwhile, I totally, deplorably forgot to link the big first-anniversary Made of Fail episode when it came out; there's also a poll up for you to weigh in as to whether you like the new intro better than the old one. (I'll be guesting on the next epsiode, which will be Harry Potter-themed.)

Also-also, from [livejournal.com profile] lightlack: "I was wondering if in one of your future linkspam posts, you might be able to post something about this story in the LA Times about a very young girl with severe schizophrenia. I don't know this family personally, but they're friends of a friend, and after I read the article I wanted to help spread the story, in case somebody out there with connections might know of some resources that could help this little girl out."

cleolinda: Went back to bed and had a weird dream about writing for the story for a musical that someone popped up and said "We wrote the songs!"

cleolinda: These were Important People the dream did not bother to name, so I was thrilled. I think monsters were involved on some level.

cleolinda: In the dream, I played at least two of the songs, full songs w/ words, on my computer, and sang along. Can't remember them now, though.

cleolinda: Meanwhile, it was Thanksgiving and a small mob of about 12 people broke into my house. The leader was a very motherly woman who was

cleolinda: very interested to hear the songs Important People wrote for my monster musical. Man, she was really nice.

Among the many:
Ralph Fiennes (Richardson's costar in Maid in Manhattan and The White Countess)
"For everyone who knew and loved her, Natasha's death is a terrible, devastating loss. She was a star. A great actress, a beautiful woman, a fiercely loyal friend, a brilliant and generous companion. She was an adoring and loving wife and mother. She was unique. My thoughts and prayers go out to Liam and her beautiful sons, Micheál and Danny and to all her family. I cannot imagine a world without her wit, her love, her mischief, her great, great talent and her gift for living. I loved her very much. She was a supreme friend. I shall miss her deeply."

Helen Mirren (Richardson's costar in The Comfort of Strangers)
"Natasha was a great actress, a fantastic mother, a loving wife and a whirlwind of energy, with an infectious love of life expressed firstly by her wonderful deep laugh. Anyone who knew her will be in mourning today. I hope that Liam and her sons are helped in their pain by the great love and sympathy that is coming to them from people all over the world."

Meryl Streep (Richardson's costar in Evening)
"Tash was the warm sun in the center of a large constellation of family, friends, all of those lucky enough to know her. She is irreplaceable in our lives; she gave us so much, so generously. Her legacy is the love that connects us all."

I think we all need a laughing puppy now )

Not much tonight, but what the hell:

THE FINAL SNACK DEATHMATCH. Reese's cups are dying out there, people!

Birmingham could get up to 3 inches of snow overnight. Naturally, there is panic in the streets.

Electronic cigarettes, what?

Are the photos of Borneo's monster snake real? AHHHHHH.

What Happened to Weird? Paranormal sightings are on the decline. I DON'T KNOW, WHY DON'T YOU ASK THE GIANT BORNEO SNAKE.

"Watchmen" Unscripted.

From [livejournal.com profile] sunni_sideup: Paul Weitz, brother of Chris, will direct 'Eclipse.' Yes, together they directed American Pie. Cue Twihard shrieking that they didn't get a prestigious "name" director... now.

From [livejournal.com profile] snicks_chan: Twilight the Musical! I am telling you, and I will keep saying it until someone listens: if it doesn't have a rousing rendition of "Love Bites," I want no part of it.

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] goonie_freak has pictures of the Sparkle Conversation Hearts. Those are just... delightful. I mean, I know I like to snack on a good pile of glitter now and then.

From Justine: Twilight Supernatural Face and Body Powders... for an immortal glimmer! In Lustre, Dazzle, and Sparkle. AROMALEIGH, I AM APPALLED.

I wonder if they would be any good for dazzling up an Edward doll.

So Prison Break has been canceled. This is my mother's second favorite TV show (I promise you, if the Jack Bauer Power Hour had been axed, you would have heard the rending of her garments from the other side of the globe). I emailed her the bad news, and I got this in reply:
Oh nooooooooooooooooooooooo……………….. That was really one of the best series, but I was wondering what else they could do. Hopefully, Michael and Sara can be together and Lincoln and Michael will be exonerated and the bitch will get hers!
Bless.

Meanwhile, at [livejournal.com profile] snacky's: When you get into new fandoms, is it because you discover the source material first or because you follow other fans? I say this in Snacky's comments, but--I realized that I follow actors, not fans. I mean, great watershed moments in Cleo Fannishness: "I kinda got bored with Lord of the Rings when I was twelve, but if Her Cateness is doing it, well..." "Alan Rickman at a wizard school? I gotta read this book." "Well, I mean... I know it looks stupid, but it's Hugh Jackman and vampires, so..." "Johnny Depp's in a movie based on a theme park ride?" "Dude, that hobbit guy got a big American TV show?" "Cedric Diggory's a vampire?"

So, you know: go weigh in, and stuff.

New Awesomeness Initiative unresolution: Be less neurotic. I almost think I'm so neurotic (example: being too squeamish to check my own email for an important reply) because I'm accustomed to being neurotic. Like, because I'm used to it, this is a behavioral baseline in my mind. And, well--you know the saying "Fake it till you make it." I'm just going to have to pretend to be someone who has her shit together until maybe I actually do.

Anyway:
