Re: the SDCC exclusive Tonner Edward variant: I think my problem here isn't OMG IT'S A TWILIGHT DOLL I MUST HAVE IT; it's that I love incorporating stuff into the Secret Life stories. And "stuff" often gets expensive, although not always--some of the best bits have been small reader gifts (The Littlest Cowboy Hat, for example), or stuff I found around the house (the dessert fork for pitching the ponies' grass), or old toys from my closet (the ponies themselves). I mean, there are dolls I want for myself that I haven't bought because I couldn't justify the cost (even crazy-fantastic bargains) by thinking of a way to incorporate them--but I see something that makes me go HOLY SHIT I HAVE TO PUT THAT IN THE STORY and it's like my brain just shuts down. I mean, I saw Super Special Exclusive Legolas with Cloak on eBay and fought for that thing to the $40 death AND STILL GOT IT FOR HALF WHAT IT USUALLY GOES FOR, SUCKAAAAAS. It's kind of my equivalent of "SQUIRREL!"

But I am trying to talk myself down off the Gratuitous Edward Variant ledge because: Alice. I have to have Alice. I can't not have Alice. I have to bring Alice's awesome to The Shelf. I can't blow this kind of money on a character I already have in a slightly different shirt and afford an Alice. So there's that. I... I'll have to see a picture of the variant Edward, I guess. *hangs head*

Oh, by the way, we have a reader question about dolls--where to find good sites for accessories for 4" figures?

Oh, and my mother has found someone who wants to buy the plates. Not the mugs yet, though.

Early linkspam, since it's Lostnesday. And sometime after Lost, we'll check in on Iorek and The Littlest Edward.

ETA: CNN is reporting that Natasha Richardson has passed away, according to a statement from her family.

I'm going to see Watchmen tomorrow afternoon (and at some point over the weekend, guest on a podcast), so you might not hear much from me over the next couple of days. Of course, as sure as I say that, I'll post five times. I'm just saying, either one is possible. (I never know what I'll be able to write until I sit down and try to do it. So I have no idea if I'll be able to put up something about Watchmen or not.) I'm finishing up a new Secret Life, but I'm also trying to space them out a bit. Honestly, I've just given up on the idea of getting any actual work done until Monday, but at least I know it, I guess.

I've also been feeling really tired lately--I mean, I know you already know that because I'm always talking about it, but I'm starting to think it's actually a mild bit of depression. You know, that chemical imbalance kind where you feel bad for no specific reason, not an event-related depression. We're getting into spring now, though, so I think it'll lift. I'm just not feeling so great at the moment, is all.

And right as I was putting on the finishing touches, the new Star Trek trailer came out. Enjoy.

First of all: Downloads of the third Half-Blood Prince trailer.

Two unconnected musical thoughts:

As soon as I became aware that Katy Perry (the singer I love to hate. GET OUT OF MY HEAD, "HOT N COLD." "N" IS NOT EVEN A REAL CONJUNCTION) did a cover of The Outfield's "Your Love" ("Use Your Love"), I had to hunt it down, because "Your Love" is one of my top umpteen songs ever. EVER. Shit, I would give any cover of "Your Love" at least one shot. Except that I started listening to it and I immediately got pissed off that the lyrics were changed for no appreciable reason. I mean, yes, there are a couple of lines near the beginning that you'd have to change, unless you, as a female performer Miss I Kissed a Girl, want to sing about how you like your girls a little bit older (honestly? If I were singing this in a karaoke or Rock Band situation, I'd do it, Josie and her vacation and everything). HOWEVER: let us compare (cover lyrics in bold): All my girls are nowhere to be found? WHAT? )

Sigh.

Secondly, there was an awesome song over the credits of the last episode of True Blood, and my understanding is that it's Dr. John's "I Don't Wanna Know" (actual spelling might vary, I'm not sure). Does anyone have it? Because I can't find it anywhere; I can't even figure out what album it might be on.

Anyway: linkspam! First you need to buy genitals )

So... in case you missed it, the previous entry was about a crowd of 3000 fans rioting outside a San Francisco mall over wristbands to a Robert Pattinson event tonight. (Number of fans expected: 200-500.) Well, it would have been tonight, except that the mall canceled it after the police showed up. (I told my mother this story, and her response was an eloquent D:< .) No word on whether blood will be shed in Seattle at the event with the other actors. Of note, then: the Hot Topic Maul Mall Tour schedule, or, Locations to Avoid If You Value Your Life. Dallas (Pattinson) and Denver (Jacob and the bad vamps) (have you heard my new band, Jacob and the Bad Vamps?) will be tomorrow, with Chicago and Phoenix on Wednesday. The events will be running through Friday or Saturday, so, you know, check the list to see if there will be any huge traffic snarls or fangirl riots in your city.

([livejournal.com profile] celticangel76 says she's going to brave the Dallas event, with updates at her journal tomorrow. Please be safe, y'all. Mob mentality is scary.)

Okay, this just in: I do not have print confirmation as of yet, but I'm hearing that San Francisco is still happening? WHAT?

It's good to know that out of three entries with any sort of political content on them, two different fights managed to break out. Aaaaaand this is why we will not be having political discussions here anymore.

... But first I'll post this, because it's stunningly stupid, and as much as I hate Fox News, Shepard Smith's reaction is for the win. "Really? ... Ralph Nader. What was that?"

By the way, in case you didn't check out the Twi-spam entry, there is in the comments the most amazing Breaking Dawn macro/animation ever created. No, it is. IT IS. You'll see it. Can't miss it.
