Same here. And honestly, somebody needs to say it; why not an extremely intelligent comedian? At least he and his staff are able to recognize (and highlight) how ridiculous the rest of the media's response to their reports have been.

OH, LORD. A BIIIG eyeroll at that whole controversy about Princess and the Frog. Sometimes I wonder if it's white folks who complain of the racism rather than the black folks.

But what should I know? XD I'm biased, Im a Disney-tard.

Also, the link to Ellen DeGeneres being Mother Nature or something doesn't seem to work for me. STILL. ELLEN = AWESOME. I have no idea what this is all about though XD

Also, regarding Natasha Richardson; like someone else mentioned here I only know her from Parent Trap, but I was extremely fond of her character, as equally as I liked the twins. So this piece of news is really depressing me.

I really hope it's not true. I'm still waiting for the family's side.

First: Can people quit whining about the Disney thing? The fact that everyone's so up in arms about the whole thing indicates that it's society with the problem, not Disney, and attacking an animated movie aimed at young children whose overwhelming message is probably going to be "be yourself and that's okay" (a far more important one than OMG INTERRACIAL COUPLE WHY NOT BLACK/BLACK ANNNGSSSTTT) does nothing to fix that.

Second: Amy Adams and Matthew Goode? Unf.

Date: 2009-03-19 01:15 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] internal666.livejournal.com
Yeah, I think you're kinda missing the point.

I've looked at both sides of the argument, and both of them have pretty valid points. On the one hand, it is good that they have another interracial couple in their movie (Why has EVERYONE forgotten about Pocohontas and John Smith and whatshisface from the sequel?) and hopefully Tiana won't have a same-race fiance who promptly dies after she meets Naveen (Again, Pocohontas. Seriously dude what the hell was with that?).

And at the same time... Disney has made such a big deal about Tiana being the first Black princess, so why couldn't they have given her a Black prince as well?

When I can remember when I was little, all of my male cousins wanted to be Aladdin when we played outside. Cause he was the Disney character that looked close to what they did. Having a Black prince would've meant so much to them when they were younger so it makes me really sad.

And having an interracial couple would mean a lot to my niece (Who is half White) too, cause I want her to know that even though her parents relationship went to shit, they can work.

I just don't know, I think I'm about to cry.

When someone has worked it out, about the best release - would you possibly link it for us in a susebquent linkspam post? =D

Als, I'm not sure I understand how or why individual stores are able to offer such variance on the dvd and their "exclusive extras"? I'm confused! I thought it would just be one dvd with all said extras, and maybe the stores would offer like a poster or something as their exclusive extras etc.

It's really annoying that they have a million different editions of the Twilight DVD. I was going to buy the Borders one, but seeing as most of their special features consist of a bunch of interviews (that I believe have been posted on their Twilight site) and stills from the movie printed on sparkly paper, I'm buying the Target one. It has 3 discs, an iTunes download, and features with Robert Pattinson on "Becoming Edward," Kristen Stewart on "Becoming Bella," Catherine Hardwicke's vampire kiss montage, Bella's lullaby remix music video (ugh), and SMeyer talking about Edward's piano playing.

Target: $17.99 last time I checked. Borders: $29.99 and if you haven't pre-ordered you probably won't get it till April (they're not taking any pre-orders for their midnight thing anymore), unless you arrive super early to their midnight mob party.

If you have an FYE or a Suncoast (or one of many other stories in the TransWorld chain) you can check and see if they are having a release party. Some stores are having a fan fest with a Costume Contest and Trivia Party, 22.99 with a 7 dollar mail in rebate and loads of other fun stuff.

I know my district in Ohio is having massive craziness across the board trying to get things in place and easy to tear down the next day.

Whoopie pies are freaking delicious, and an awesome, cholesterol-filled part of my Pennsylvania Dutch heritage. If they're becoming trendy, though, and the next thing you know whoopie pie stores will be springing up around Manhattan, complete with aproned bouncers, I might have to swear them off. But then, I feel whoopie pies wouldn't sell out like that.
