Let me show you them, my books. Read more... )

Meanwhile, I will be watching the Twilight Zone marathon (OH CRAP IS IT ALREADY ON?) as usual, which has gone from "sad because I have nowhere loud and flashy to go" to "venerable homebody tradition, I do what I want." I would like to cheerfully drink my way through it, but I'll probably end up asleep by 10 pm if I do that, so.

Still not a full linkspam, because--while I'm dealing with the med changes a lot better now--I'm kind of going through a chills-and-pseudo-fever stage. This normal, not a problem (nor an actual fever), but it's not the funnest thing in the world, either. However, a few interesting things have come out:

Bryce Dallas Howard Replaces Rachelle Lefevre in 'Twilight: Eclipse'; Lefevre ‘stunned’ by losing ‘Eclipse’ role; riots in the tweets. Okay, I have NO IDEA what is going on with this, because Lefevre's statement seems to indicate that it was not a genuine schedule conflict, but if it wasn't--why recast the villain three movies in? (And she was actually a good Victoria! A fierce bitch even, I daresay! This is not Katie Holmes in the Batman franchise here!) I mean, I actually really like Bryce Dallas Howard, but it's not like she's a gigantic box office draw or something--what does Summit have to gain by pissing off the fans who actually care and not really exciting anyone who doesn't?

ETA: Wait, it was about money? So they got someone more famous? WHAT?

ETA: We need the entertainment law equivalent of my mother, y/y?

ETA: Summit responds in the pissiest way possible.

Meanwhile, 'New Moon' Star Robert Pattinson: In Real Life, Edward Cullen 'Would Be An Axe Murderer.'

Michael Sheen Cast as 'Tron Legacy' Villain and Pictured as 'New Moon's Aro.

J.R.R Tolkien Estate Sues to Block "The Hobbit" Adaptation; 'The Lord Of The Rings' Extended Edition Blu-Ray Discs Still More Than A Year Away. I would imagine they'd arrive in 2011, for the ten-year anniversary of FOTR. Yes, you may commence feeling old now.

Third Narnia Film Starts Principal Photography.

'Dorian Gray' Trailer: Prince Caspian Lays Some Babes. ... I'm not sure that's what the book is actually about.

Wolfman Trapped in Release Date Curse; Wolfman Rumors Running Rampant; Universal Comments on Wolfman Move. I'm just saying: February is kind of a dumping ground. This does not sound good.

'Iron Man 2' Set Visit Reveals Inner Demons, An Energy Crisis And More Trouble For Tony Stark.

Zhang Yimou Plans Chinese Remake Of Coen Brothers' 'Blood Simple.'

Dr. Seuss' The Lorax Coming to the Big Screen.

Rachel Weisz Gets Stellar Reviews In ‘A Streetcar Named Desire.’

Vulture Taste Test: Tru Blood. "The drink itself is fizzy, tangy, surprisingly drinkable. Some sorority girl is going to love mixing it with her double-vodka Red Bull." Hell, I'd drink it.

Re: LiveJournal: Here's the press release about the layoffs.

Back at the ranch, as it were, I got so sucked into this afternoon's rerun of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when Sister Girl was over doing laundry this afternoon--it was one of those L&O specialties where they started off with one crime and midway through switched to another that they discovered in the course of investigating the first one, which was great and fantastic and all except that I kept screaming "BUT WHAT ABOUT BRIANNA????"

... maybe you had to be there.

Meanwhile, yesterday, I ran around doing housework (you know it's bad when I try to procrastinate by cleaning) until I ended up throwing up all over the bathroom. (Which then, of course, had to be... cleaned.) I have no idea what that was about, except that I'd had a heavy breakfast (well, you know: greasy fast-food biscuit) on a nervous stomach. And then I felt feverish and had chills all day (and a good bit of today as well), so maybe I'm legitimately sick, who knows.

I made Sister Girl take the rest of the Mountain Dews with her, though, so that temptation is at least removed. Also, I think the withdrawal headaches have eased up.

I'm also trying to remind myself that I may be in a hypomanic phase (what with the running around cleaning), so if I suddenly crash and don't feel magically energetic anymore, that's not a moral failing. It just means that if I feel good now, I need to make hay while the sun shines.

Apropos of nothing much, one more thing about Prince Caspian: Read more... )

Oh, by the way, I got an email newsletter/casting call from Universal Pictures, and when I tried to copypaste the info to pass it along, it turned out to be a series of image files. Huh. Therefore, I will present it to you as it was presented to me (click to enlarge): ARE YOU THE NEXT MCLOVIN????? )

Of course, I saw the name "Edward" and ran screaming, but there you are. (Oh, and the MySpace and Facebook links were clickable; at least you don't have to type those in. The latter demands to know whether you are THE NEXT MCLOVIN' OR MICHAEL CERA?!, which should give you an idea of what they're looking for.)

Speaking of Edward, [livejournal.com profile] mistress_gwen has started the comm [livejournal.com profile] sparklpires for lolfans. Enjoy.

Late again today, because there was MOAR CHRISTMAS SHOPPING. Which was fun, so I had that going for me.

Important: I got an email the other day from someone who said that reading The Gift of Fear hours before she attended a seminar helped her realize that the seminar was Bad News; she was able to run away, literally, out of the building, before they got their hooks into her (they immediately started telling people to ignore gut instincts, interestingly enough). Turns out the seminar was the cult Lifespring under a new name--please be aware that variations operate under the names "Mastery In Transformational Training" and "Movement of Spiritual Inner Awareness," according to Wikipedia. So basically, I wanted to alert everyone to that before anyone else got sucked in, and also, READ THE GIFT OF FEAR, SERIOUSLY, IT IS ON SALE RIGHT NOW, I AM NOT KIDDING.

Also: in the interest of slimming down the linkspam entries, I've looked into using FriendFeed for the less crucial stuff. Basically, anything I post on Livejournal or Twitter will show up there, and anything I "share" from Google Reader will as well. I won't hit share on anything I intend to use on the linkspam posts--the good and/or movie stuff--so at least that way you're not getting it twice, but if it's just something randomly kind of interesting, I'll throw it up there anyway. (And you'll also see the kind of stuff I initially flag and then don't use.) And you can then add the RSS feed of that to Google Reader if that's what you use. It's a whole recursive tangle of feeds, but you know, whatever. It gives people options. I'll try it for a while, see if it works for people.

Meanwhile, the Twilight sequel trainwreck has gotten EVEN WORSE. Hey, can you be in Vancouver on Monday? )

Y'all, I am seriously beginning to think that my productivity is affected by barometric pressure. I spent three rainy days feeling like a slug, and now it's gorgeous outside and I feel great. Or maybe lack of sunlight chagrins my dazzle? I don't know. I'd like my dazzle to be more consistent, though.

(I should note here that the fine people at WTFudgery sent me five samples--chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, chocolate walnut, chocolate pretzel, and spicy chocolate--and I said I would give anyone with a name that fantastic a mention here whether the fudge was good or not. Fortunately, it was very good.)

(If it sounds like I've suddenly had people sending me stuff the last few weeks, well... that's kind of how it's been. I don't know. Every couple of years or so, my mailbox suddenly fills up with awesome. I'm not sure why--maybe because I've put up some new kind of thing online, like the Fifteen Minutes or the sporadic I still feel terrible about not finishing those Lost recaps or whatever. I guess it would be the Twilight recaps in this case.)

I got mistaken for "nineteen or twenty" yesterday. I turn thirty in December. I'm not sure if this is a good thing or not. You probably want to slap me right now, but--if you're always being mistaken for being a lot younger, it's like you never really feel like you've grown up.

Oh! By the way, if you've told me you're sending something, I haven't received it (unless I came by and told you otherwise). Something weird is going on with our mail, and things either aren't getting to us, or they're taking a really long time. This is disconcerting, to say the least.

(Confidential to the sender of the unexpected t-shirt: I plan on disregarding your instructions and cherishing it forever. : )

Okay, our dishwasher is now on its last legs. I mean, it'll still turn on, but it's been so spotty for so long that we're obviously going to have to replace it in the next few months. Yes, we can get by washing dishes by hand. It's not so much that the dishwasher's dying as it is that this will be the eleventy-thousandth appliance to die this year. And Shelby's going to have to have surgery for her hip dysplasia in the next year or so, and we're still paying off the Unexpected Pension Taxes, and somewhere in there we've got to buy Tiny Tim a new crutch. The really stressful part is that my mother is now looking to me to finish my writing projects and hopefully bring in enough extra income that we can get on top of the bills and pay more than just a tiny bit, the interest, and sneaky late fees (everyone wants payment just before the last paycheck of the month) on them. You know. No pressure or anything.

And then my computer crashed in the middle of the "King Arthur in Fifteen Minutes" notes, and I lost all yesterday afternoon's work. "Document recovery" my ass. This is why you didn't get a linkspam, because I was too pissed busy trying to redo my work to deal with it.

(Also, Semagic came thisclose to eating all of tonight's linkspam when my computer crashed. "Load automatically saved draft" only pulled up the earliest version, until I finally thought to try "Load Draft" and see what came up.)

Let's go to another happy jewelry place! Damn, I need one. It's an old favorite, but what the hell: Sweet Romance Online. Favorites (and man, is it hard to narrow it down): the rose pendant; the art nouveau "Futura" set; the morning glory suite; the lily of the valley suite.

I woke up with a horrific migraine and a weird stomachache this morning--the second time both have happened in a week, actually, which is a bit disconcerting. If it turns out to be a half-vampire baby, I'm going to name it Nellouise Baseball Jones--so I sacked out half-conscious on the couch and watched Olympic beach volleyball for an hour or two (apparently Gibb and Rosenthal are really good, because the announcer kept screaming "Rosenthal! ROSENTHAL!!" like he was in bed with them). At some point, there was swimming. It was all kind of a blur.

You guys, I think it has finally sunk in that tonight, at midnight, the faithful are finally going to get hold of actual copies of Breaking Dawn, and judging from the spoiler reactions I've heard, tomorrow, we will hear their lamentations throughout the land. Seriously, it feels like Christmas Eve right now. But then, I'm a terrible person, and I enjoy fandom insanity of any stripe. So here we are, the last linkspam before I get down to work:
