I woke up with a horrific migraine and a weird stomachache this morning--the second time both have happened in a week, actually, which is a bit disconcerting. If it turns out to be a half-vampire baby, I'm going to name it Nellouise Baseball Jones--so I sacked out half-conscious on the couch and watched Olympic beach volleyball for an hour or two (apparently Gibb and Rosenthal are really good, because the announcer kept screaming "Rosenthal! ROSENTHAL!!" like he was in bed with them). At some point, there was swimming. It was all kind of a blur.

Just about ALL of them! I'm so sick of the limited stereotypes roles available for women in Hollywood. That also goes for anyone non-white. Casting directors must be the least creative people in the world...(hyperbole, but you know what I mean.)

The Hawaii 5-0 theme is about one of the perfect pieces of art in any medium. Just about anything is better with its inclusion.

Unfortunately, it does tend to lodge itself in the forebrain, so I had to watch Owls (http://www.weebls-stuff.com/toons/Owls/) to get it out again.

That "Is Twilight Anti-Feminist?" article made me *headdesk* The relationship isn't abusive because Bella hits Edward up for sex? Yeah. Right. Sure. Having your property destroyed and your autonomy denied is totally okay if you want to sleep with the person doing it.

Why are they calling "The Brothers Bloom" a "Brick" follow-up? Aside from being made by the same guy, they don't seem to have anything to do with each other.

This may be old news, but did you hear how the little girl who sang the Chinese national anthem at the Olympics' Opening Ceremonies was a stand-in for the actual little singer who was deemed too "aesthetically unappealing" to show her face, etc.? It's disgusting. (Although, as Craig Ferguson remarked: "If we can't trust an oppressive, totalitarian dictatorship... who can we trust?!")

There are articles all over the place, but I'll link a CNN one:

Olympic opening uses girl's voice, not face. (http://www.cnn.com/2008/WORLD/asiapcf/08/12/olympic.ceremony.lip.synche.ap/index.html)

Re the MTV VH1 interview - Everything that comes out of SMeyer's mouth just makes me think she was really born to write fanfiction and just made the mistake of writing it before she watched Buffy, or any of the other zillions of vampire material out there. One wonders, if she had seen Buffy first, would she have stuck to writing fanfiction involving copious amounts of sparkle lotion?

By the way, I kind of sent the Movies & Fifteen minutes communities in to Heather on the CraftLit (http://www.craftlit.libsyn.com/) podcast, and she talked about it in the podcast and posted a link, so, um, don't be too weirded out if you get a sudden influx of knitters.
