Re: LiveJournal: Here's the press release about the layoffs.

Back at the ranch, as it were, I got so sucked into this afternoon's rerun of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit when Sister Girl was over doing laundry this afternoon--it was one of those L&O specialties where they started off with one crime and midway through switched to another that they discovered in the course of investigating the first one, which was great and fantastic and all except that I kept screaming "BUT WHAT ABOUT BRIANNA????"

... maybe you had to be there.

Meanwhile, yesterday, I ran around doing housework (you know it's bad when I try to procrastinate by cleaning) until I ended up throwing up all over the bathroom. (Which then, of course, had to be... cleaned.) I have no idea what that was about, except that I'd had a heavy breakfast (well, you know: greasy fast-food biscuit) on a nervous stomach. And then I felt feverish and had chills all day (and a good bit of today as well), so maybe I'm legitimately sick, who knows.

I made Sister Girl take the rest of the Mountain Dews with her, though, so that temptation is at least removed. Also, I think the withdrawal headaches have eased up.

I'm also trying to remind myself that I may be in a hypomanic phase (what with the running around cleaning), so if I suddenly crash and don't feel magically energetic anymore, that's not a moral failing. It just means that if I feel good now, I need to make hay while the sun shines.

Apropos of nothing much, one more thing about Prince Caspian: there's that council scene early where all the Telmarine lords are like, "Right, uh-huh, you've got a brand-new heir and your nephew the real prince just happened to disappear, I am so sure," and one of the lords yells something, and even though I'd already seen it twice in the theater, and even though I didn't even see the guy when he spoke, I suddenly realized: HEY YOU GUYS WHAT'S KARKAROFF DOING THERE? It's true! It's him!

One more thing: I still love the mouse music. And I kind of dance to it every time it plays. What?

Oh, by the way, I got an email newsletter/casting call from Universal Pictures, and when I tried to copypaste the info to pass it along, it turned out to be a series of image files. Huh. Therefore, I will present it to you as it was presented to me (click to enlarge):

Of course, I saw the name "Edward" and ran screaming, but there you are. (Oh, and the MySpace and Facebook links were clickable; at least you don't have to type those in. The latter demands to know whether you are THE NEXT MCLOVIN' OR MICHAEL CERA?!, which should give you an idea of what they're looking for.)

Speaking of Edward, [livejournal.com profile] mistress_gwen has started the comm [livejournal.com profile] sparklpires for lolfans. Enjoy.

This time, they actually did manage to bring it back around to the original case, but then a suspect got killed and they never investigated THAT! Even though it was totally obvious who would have killed him! But they were just like, "Eh, whatever, he deserved it. I guess."

(you know it's bad when I try to procrastinate by cleaning)

That's...a bad thing? That's exactly why I got in the habit of cleaning my dorm room on Sunday afternoons so I could procrastinate a little longer and not feel quite so damn guilty. Now I'm just a semi-neat freak.

RE Meg Cabot- Thank God. I would dutifully read each book, hating it and not realizing it for years. I finally came to the conclusion all of her characters are whiny idiots that need a slap upside the head. The plot point in a book in the other series, All American Girl, was that the girl thought that "playing Parcheesi" meant having sex, when in fact, it meant playing Parcheesi. Board Game =/= Sex! Dumbass. And I hate all her characters that much.

Okay, so not only does the Tintin movie have Andy Serkis voicing the lovable drunk Capt. Haddock AND Steven Moffat writing the screenplay AND Spielberg directing the movie, but now we have Nick Frost and Simon Pegg voicing the adorable and inept Thompson twins? To be precise: I am going to be all over this movie like anvils on Daffy Duck.

OMG...a remake of Last House on the Left. I discovered that movie when I worked in a video store. I was browsing the horror section one night when it was dead and I had nothing else to do and there it was: a Wes Craven film I had never seen.

It freaked me out so much. It was so uncomfortable to watch, but absolutely brilliant. That is horror, not the SAW shit that's so popular now.

I think it's rather sad that I'm surprised this is the first time you've heard of Cleavagefield. Sad because it means I've known about it for much longer than is probably healthy.

I'm curious about The Descent 2, even if the Crawlers now look more like orcs this time than the love child of Nosferatu and Gollum.

Hilariously, the first article I read about it had a brief snippet where they had Natalie Mendoza (who played Juno in the first) talking about how her character also returns. The hilarity came from the fact that she mentioned her character's survival was a "surprise twist."

Okay, Natalie, I'll totally act surprised!

The FBI hiring blitz? Probably the only regret I have about switching my major is that now I'll never get the chance to work for the FBI. I actually had gone through the application process to intern, and then turned it down. I had a major breakdown when I realized I hated my international studies track, and switched to theatre.

And now the economy crashed, and theatre is even LESS of a viable job.
