@Tonnerdoll: The Hunger Games Concept Sketches...Check it! What do you think, you all? We can totally do this justice!

@cleolinda: WAIT DOES THAT MEAN THERE WILL BE A KATNISS DOLL? please Santa I have been ever so good

@Tonnerdoll: Cleo, we definitely have The Hunger Games license, so one would hope that Katniss is in the works! ^kv #dollchat

("kv" is Kevin--Tonner Kevin, if you will--who's also @mediasres on Twitter and usually runs the @Tonnerdoll feed. They're pretty dedicated to the whole #dollchat thing--actually, I think the next one is tonight--and talking with collectors, so don't get too impressed with my ~connections.~)

I don't really have anything interesting to say, I just thought this was Relevant to Our Interests.

What’s Next for Delicious?

Is Delicious being shut down? And should I be worried about my data?

- No, we are not shutting down Delicious. While we have determined that there is not a strategic fit at Yahoo!, we believe there is a ideal home for Delicious outside of the company where it can be resourced to the level where it can be competitive.

What is Yahoo! going to do with Delicious?

- We’re actively thinking about the future of Delicious and we believe there is a home outside the company that would make more sense for the service and our users. We’re in the process of exploring a variety of options and talking to companies right now. And we’ll share our plans with you as soon as we can.

I can't even tell you what a relief this is. What I use it for )

But for now, DELICIOUS LIVES. We are all very happy about this.

A few reminders:

The Write Christmas contest (which I am judging!) is still open for entries.

A new-but-belated Secret Life of Dolls did go up on Monday; the next one can't really have any pictures, so it ought to go up on schedule tomorrow.

Not sure when a new Varney will go up, but that's on the table next. Although I also need to do a good solid movie linkspam.

And then I will go back over to Delicious and roll around in my many, many Victorian research links and it will NEVER LEAVE ME AGAIN.

After two weeks of me haranguing the internets to SAVE EDWARD CAT and his sad goldenscotch eyes--

--and [livejournal.com profile] snowcoma spending much of that negotiating with the rescue foster family for his release, with the support of [livejournal.com profile] sarasaid: may I introduce you to ~*Edward Chagrin Cleosara Slater*~ and his new sparkle collar. PICTURES )

Voice post: "Edward is in the car with us right now." ([livejournal.com profile] snowcoma does go into what was going on with the foster family a little bit, and doesn't want any hard feelings about that.) He is in his cat carrier! With his catnip toys! He is chill and relaxed! She's going to be off the grid for a little while, but she says we will get happycat pictures on Monday.

I swear, I started laughing just from sheer relief. I can't stop, actually.

I'm kind of limp and draggy today which is absolutely fine because I plan to do NOT A DAMN THING TODAY. I finished my final proof yesterday (I still have to check a DVD for a few things, blah blah finishing touches blee but ALL THE LINKS HAVE BEEN CLICKED and ALL THE CROSS-REFERENCES HAVE BEEN CHECKED, hallelujah), and I pretty much plan on having pancakes for lunch and watching Hitchcock movies all afternoon. If I am very lucky, there might even be bacon.

Also, I think my mother feels kind of guilty about the Cleo Saves Her Family initiative, because she saw a guy selling jewelry at the [university center] yesterday and picked up a couple of moonstones for me. The key is from the 1890s; I don't know why the guy was selling keys, but he was, and Black Ribbon starts in 1889, so that's why she got it for me. Aw.

So my computer is sick (I can't figure out how to open the CPU, but I did dust the back off, and that got rid of the "fan failure" message... FOR NOW) and this gives me walrusface (;_;) and the dogs were unruly and I got mad and I was not having a good day. And then at 3:30, I decided to check the mailbox--I thought The Package would be coming via UPS, but let's check just in case.

omg it's here.

I got out the kitchen scissors, sliced open the box, and started laughing my ass off. I think some of the pictures came out a bit blurry because I was laughing so hard my hands wouldn't keep steady. I'm still laughing, actually.

"Oh--oh my God. This is--oh my God. That is amazing. Look at you. Just--you are just precious."

Huzzah! My college roommate (Valkyrie) and her husband (Dr. Typo, for those of y'all who used to read the Daily Digest) had their baby today! Baby Typo is seven pounds or thereabouts and 21 inches long. Also, we all haunted Dr. Typo's Facebook this morning once word got out that they'd gone to the hospital--we sat there refreshing madly while he updated his status from his iPhone, and the Lovely Emily (my other college roommate) can't get Facebook at work, so I relayed all the news to her via email. Of course, he disappeared for long stretches of time, quite reasonably, as he needed to actually be with Valkyrie and not liveblog the whole thing. Ah, modernity.

(While we were waiting, Em and I discussed Breaking Dawn, which she had just read for the first time. Appropriate!)

Petty distress: my face is all red and dry and sensitive and itchy (like a sunburn, actually), and I'm not sure why, except that Read more... )

New York Comic Con in 90 Seconds; "Real Book" Writers Play a Part at Comic-Con, Too; 2009 NYCC: Tonner Doll Co. Speaking of NYCC (and dolls), here's [livejournal.com profile] foresthouse's recap of her own adventures (with photo gallery), including a pilgrimage to aforesaid Tonner booth. What I love is that three different people (including my sister) took pictures of the Dollens, but only in [livejournal.com profile] foresthouse's was The Hair on high alert (fangirls must have been imminent).

Via [livejournal.com profile] quitesometime, holy shit: Two Blog Entries You Should Be Reading. "Just when you're ready to break up with the Internet, forever, and take back the lingerie you bought it, you stumble on things that remind you that it's sort of good for something." I made a Time magazine blogger believe in the internet again, y'all. What have I done?

Speaking of the Breaking Dawn recap, I got bored and fished out some digital scrapbooking background samples (mostly from Scrapgirls, I think), skimmed over the Twilight recaps, and started making text icons. They would be fancier, except that my broke-ass copy of Photoshop 6.0 has decided it doesn't want to load 90% of my fonts. Please, if you have moar skillz or more cooperative software, feel free to make your own. (And please use icons with profanity judiciously, y'all.) POW!

Speaking of speaking of Twilight--we gotta get this Harry Potter thing out of the way, because THE PLOT HAS THICKENED. Damn, it's like Single White Vampire up in here )

More linkspam! I have three words for you, and they are *Iron Man foursome* )

YAY I AM SO EXCITED! I found this David Bowie CD--six live tracks and/or remixes that randomly came packaged with some magazine I subscribed to about ten years ago, which was AWESOME. It has my favorite version of "Heart's Filthy Lesson"--that had been missing and I found it and it had fallen behind the file cabinet and it was missing but I found it! I found it! SWEET.

Also, I itch now. I really don't want to think about what's in all that dust. Seriously, don't tell me. I know some of y'all smartasses will tell me about spiders and mites and shit and I am telling you right now, I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW.
