YAY I AM SO EXCITED! I found this David Bowie CD--six live tracks and/or remixes that randomly came packaged with some magazine I subscribed to about ten years ago, which was AWESOME. It has my favorite version of "Heart's Filthy Lesson"--that had been missing and I found it and it had fallen behind the file cabinet and it was missing but I found it! I found it! SWEET.

Also, I itch now. I really don't want to think about what's in all that dust. Seriously, don't tell me. I know some of y'all smartasses will tell me about spiders and mites and shit and I am telling you right now, I DO NOT WANT TO KNOW.

I bet Joe Pesci there, who is only nominally larger, but much more dangerous.

Dust is actully just tiny dried bits of other, usually non-irritating, objects. Most of yours is probably just from paper. You're turning into a book! Which is pretty cool when you think about it.

Yeah, but I have a lot of crap in my room, which means the dust could be made up of *anything.* Ew.

I need to take a shower.

This is precisely the reason I loathe cleaning my room. I find SO. MUCH. DUST. I don't know where it all comes from. And then my eyes water and I sneeze and I feel awful... Blarg. Showers are good, though.

I CAN'T clean my room because of dust. I'm super allergic - the littlest dustball sends me in a fit of sneezes. My bedroom turned into a storeroom (I went travelling, moved out of state for a while...I came back and my bed became Wardrobe #3) and when I tried to clean it out, just STEPPING in the room gave me the sneeze attack. Mum had to do most of it, and I moved into my sister's room.

sniff!

Last time I cleaned I found a Tom Jones CD that I had no memory of ever owning. So you're one up on me on the CD finding front.

I am the family dust magnet during cleaning time. Therefore, not wishing to incur the righteous wrath of you, I will not even begin to speculate in your hearing about the constituents of the dust.

A hot shower sounds wonderful at this point. Congrats on finding the CD!

p/s -- I found your book in my local (Manila, Philippines) bookstore, and was jumping up and down like a loon, because never did I think I would see it here. Husband has been reading bits and chortling madly as a result. Yayz!

Hooray for David Bowie! My mom got me the Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars original motion picture sdtk a couple of Christmases ago. Totally kick-ass awesome, especially 'cause it was some kind of anniversary 2-disc special edition, and came with a kinds of cool stuff in it, like a replica of the tickets from the show, and a couple other things.

As for the cleaning bit-you are a brave woman. I would have given up ages ago. Just go take a shower and have a hot cup of tea...then maybe you'll quit thinking about what gave you the itchies.

I was going to ask "Is it Earthling in the City?" but somebody already did, and the answer was yes, so I will tell my story:

My brother was cleaning his room two years ago and when he went to rearrange his bed he found the exact same CD under there. I was only just getting into Bowie then, so it was a strange coincidence. We have no idea where it came from or how it got there -- I have always wanted to know what Magazine it came from! I know it says "GQ" on it, but I doubt that's it since nobody in my house buys/has any GQ's. Well, I have a few but I bought them afterwards.

I think it hides somewhere in every Bowie fans house waiting to be found. If a Bowie fan doesn't have it yet, then they just haven't searched their home hard enough.

OMG. David Bowie is Love. *wishes she could find some awesome stuff whilst cleaning* All I ever find are old notes from my best friend from when we were in middle school. Ha, that's quite entertaining seeing as how middle school was about FIVE YEARS AGO.

Anyyyywho, I was bored so I decided to read your Lost Recap for "Hearts and Minds" for the 47 billionth time and I just had to make an icon with a quote. I couldn't resist. Thought i'd show you!

Okay, remember that "teenager repellant" device that plays a high pitched noise that adults can't hear in order to prevent loitering in front of shops? Well, the tables have been turned.

Teenager repellant repossessed as cellphone ringtone adults can't hear (http://www.nytimes.com/2006/06/12/technology/12ring.html?ex=1150776000&en=8a412c5f9c6a6fb3&ei=5070)

It's a little depressing to think that our hearing has already started to go at age 27.
