I knew someone would eventually go back to King Arthur and find something hilariously relevant to Hannibal, but I didn't know it'd be amazing.

PREVIOUSLY ON: EMPATH AND CANNIBAL: Will managed not to shoot the fuck out of the Mushroom Whisperer. Miss Freddie Lounds was not just "terribly rude" but downright "naughty," and we all started flailing. Field Kabuki broke up and my new band is called Broken Pony; I'm going to try and see if we can get Outrageous Flavor to open for us on the Bone Arena of Your Skull tour.

@particle_p: Also "you are naughty, Miss Lounds" sounds like some kind of 50 Shades Of...wait.

@cleolinda: Yeah, that was another "just gonna leave that right there" line.

@cleolinda: Also, I would go to Bad Joke Hell if I said something about Fifty Shades of Gravy, wouldn't I?

Disturbing content, obviously )

Before we get to movie news: a few updates on the Norway situation.

@BreakingNews: Norwegian police revise death toll in Utoya youth camp massacre down to 68 from 86; @REUTERSFLASH: Norwegian police say at least 100,000 people take part in Oslo march in support of attack victims; Norway killer claims he had help; manifesto outlined plans to attack writers & lit professors; @krazycat/[livejournal.com profile] krazycat: New blog post: Oslo - reflection and tears. And from [livejournal.com profile] gryster:

Just a small message from Norway:

There was a march of roses in Oslo today. It is the most beautiful reaction I have ever seen. The actual marching bit was cancelled because there was SO MANY PEOPLE. People were asked to leave their roses all over the city, and they really did. All of downtown Oslo was just covered with roses.

There's a link here. There's a slideslow at the top, with pictures from all over the country. I just wanted to show you this, (and ask you to share it) because I'm guessing it won't necessarily be shown on American TV. It was a beautiful thing to be a part of.

Okay, we have a lot to talk about. First of all, I have a question, since I do talk about mental health and the treatment thereof pretty openly: have any of y'all had any problems with Zoloft withdrawal? I'm moving from a fairly low dose to an even lower one, and I'll probably stop taking it entirely after my next med check. (This is my doctor's idea, and I am on board with it; I am very vocal when something does not work for me, so it's a whole process, and it's professionally guided.) I just want to know if there's something I should look out for. Because we tried to increase it a couple of years ago, before eventually moving to Lamictal (which, after a bumpy adjustment period, has worked out really well), the Zoloft increase was... bad. It was bad. So I want to know what to look out for, so I can recognize it and go back and say "This isn't working" if I have to. (ETA: It may affect your answer to know that I'm going to try to taper entirely off Zoloft after twelve years of being on it.)

Second: I have been sick the last two or three days. Not too badly, but a low fever, some sinus drainage, a sore throat, and I've had a cough for a while. So I've been dozing on the couch a lot. I would hate to think that I am such a ~delicate blossom~ that the anxiety of posting a new Fifteen Minutes--let's face it, I only do this 2-3 times a year, so there's kind of a psychological build-up to it--did me in, or smacked my immune system upside the head, or what. But it's possible. I'm usually a bit done in for a day or two after these things, after all. Because I am, apparently, a fragile little e-flower. Who knows.

Third: Let's have some linkspam. Read more... )

Meanwhile--bear with me, I'm going somewhere with this--this is my new favorite thing. Yes, it's actually a "mystical eye" design.

And there is a reason I am showing you this, because: Read more... )

Meanwhile-meanwhile, YA Highway has linked to me a couple of times this month---first to the "Twilight and the female gaze" entry, now to Eclipse in Fifteen Minutes--which is nice.

What I saw while I was over there was... not so nice. YOU GAVE YOUR BABY A PUNNY TWILIGHT TRAMP STAMP? )

I'm going to go lie down again.

Update: Batch 2 is here.

All right, a more cheerful entry.

After talking to a few people, I made several more "Heroine Addict" icons. My strength in making graphics, as most of you have probably figured out, is simplicity. (Ha.) I'd like to think of it as a feminist (see: "Yes, You Are") sort of meme. Pass 'em on, make your own, make them better, add more, bring 'em here and show me. Take heroines from graphic novels, anime, cartoons, theater, movies, comics, I don't care. But if you make them, I'd love to see them, so come back and comment.

Oh, and leave more requests/suggestions if you have any.

Requests, arranged somewhat randomly:

Lord of the Rings Read more... )

L-R, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean (2), In America Read more... )

X-Men Read more... )

L-R: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (comic), Monsters Inc., Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (still looking for a decent Michelle Yeoh picture), Whale Rider Read more... )

L-R: Star Wars prequels (2), Mists of Avalon, Run Lola Run Read more... )

Special bonus: Heroines from movies that haven't even come out yet!
L-R: Episode III, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, King Arthur, Phantom of the Opera Read more... )
