Okay, first of all, OUR LONG INTERNATIONAL NIGHTMARE IS OVER: JKR/WB vs RDR Books Trial: RDR Books Withdraws Appeal.

Second of all: Holy shit, Edward Dollen really does look like David Boreanaz.

Third: For people wondering about what the hell's up with the Bella doll, this is the outfit she's wearing. You only see the peasant blouse in the hotel scene because she's got the jacket zipped up after that. And the doll's actually wearing the brown jacket from another scene (this one. Look at the cuffs). Look, I don't actually care what she's wearing--[livejournal.com profile] padawansguide and I just geek out over costumes like whoa on her site sometimes, so I'm used to scrutinizing tiny details like a nutbar. People were just asking, is all.

Fourth: An email conversation I just had with my mother, who is apparently way more invested in the situation than I had dreamed:
Twilight doll pictures have come in. Stand back, they're creepy (see attachments).

He looks more like the person playing the part than she does.

Yeah... Bella has a severe lack of bitchface. And their hair colors are switched for reasons I cannot fathom. I'm sure Robert Tonner will be getting hundreds of angry emails to that effect by the end of the day. You think I'm kidding, and I'm not even.

You’re probably right about the calls – I even wanted to make one about Bella. Bella doesn’t even look like the actress. I’m sure they will be a big disappointment to those fans who live and breathe Twilight………………..
So... there's that.

And for folks a little lost with the whole Secret Life of Dolls thing, there's some background and a chronological list of entries over here (after a little housekeeping to get the list up to date).

I'm...unsure about the Russell/Arthur thing. In a way I can see it, but I don't know if Russell, much as I love him, is a good leading man. He's kind of like comic seasoning for films, if you will. Too much of him might spoil the movie broth. Still, if they do make it, I will have to go see it on opening day. Obviously.

He mentioned that it was when he was a teenager - they're all pretty beefed up now, relatively speaking. They have the skinniest chicken legs I've ever seen, though. Their mom takes in all their pants for them to make them tight like Olivia Newton John in Grease. Sigh, I love them.

Ditto for me. The highlight of my college graduation trip to Europe was watching this on the plane to London from Manila; having the projector throw a fit, and living in mortal fear that we would land before the movie ended...

Thankfully the movie ended well before the pilot started the descent, which was a very good thing.

Speaking of dolls, have there been any updates on what's happening in the world of Barbie and Ken?

Also -- your description of Carolina Moon? Awesome. I kind of want to find it and watch it now. (I have heard Nora's actually a pretty good writer. But I think all Lifetime movies are just doomed to failure.)

Had you already mentally retired from it after the verdict, or does this bring a better sense of closure? I'd be glad to shut up the little sick voice in the back of my head that would have had to keep following it forever and ever, personally.

I think the last time I posted was the verdict, and I let someone else handle the appeal announcement, because it had literally been a full year.

I would like to amend the headline and add "Aspiring SCREEN writers, don't do this either."

I get so much crap, every day, from people saying "hey, I know you guys don't accept unsolicited material, but you'll LOVE THIS" blah blah blah.

They don't understand that it is actually a legal process set up to protect them. Copyright and all that jazz.

And I'm putting that on my list of "if I ever speak to Sparkleson, what will I ask?" questions : "did you seriously go out to dinner with a stalker, or were you just messing around?"

that the 1st thing i said when i saw it!

ALSO! i have a theory on why in breaking dawn Bella is SOOO protective of the vampire baby! there's this one episode of the show angel where Cordelia gets knocked up by some dude and is like 8.995 months preggers OVERNIGHT! so at first shes all like GET IT OUTTA ME! but then she like beats up Westley because he's trying to hurt "her baby". and it turns out that the demon spawn baby puts some sort of mind control thing on her.

maybe its like that with the vampire babies in breaking dawn? like that dude even said that his mom was super protective of him and apparently his sister's moms carried them to term too! its like the baby MAKES THEM!

OK, look. The remakes have to stop.

Just because something made a bazillion dollars in the Eighties does not mean it's going to do it again. Romancing the Stone was awesome when it came out. It is still one of my favorite fun movies. But it's Michael Douglas and Kathleen Turner that made it awesome more then the story itself.

Besides, anytime they've said "remake" so far, it's actually meant "a sucky reimagining of the original which may or may not use more then just the title".

There are a dozen books I can think of off the top of my head that would make amazing movies. GOOD movies. And that's just me! Srsly Hollywood - BACK THE HELL OFF MY OLD MOVIES!
