Done, finally!
Nov. 8th, 2008 03:49 pmY'all, I discovered something today that blew my mind. I'd been suspecting it for a while now--you see yourself in the mirror every day, it's kind of hard not to--but I thought maybe I was just imagining it. So today, my mother and I were looking at the new Sephora catalogue that came in the mail, discussing various eyeshadow colors, and she stopped and said, "What color are your eyes?"
"See, that's what I was going to ask you," I said, taking off my glasses. "What color ARE they?"
She peered into my face and told me to look up, into the light. "I think... I think they're green?"
"I KNEW IT!"
BLUE, it says on my birth certificate. BLUE, it says on my driver's not-license. For nearly thirty years I have been Female, Brown Hair, Blue Eyes, and now, over the course of the last couple of years, I have changed. I've been noticing it for a while, like I said. I thought I was crazy; I thought the light in the bathroom was bad. BUT NO. MY EYES ARE GREEN. I CANNOT DECIDE IF THIS IS GOOD OR BAD.
(So... now I've got green eyes and grey hairs. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, I guess.)
Meanwhile! The Tonner Narnia dolls are back up again! And I think they've changed Susan's face! For the better.
(Coronation Susan's the one I want, but I checked with the girls, of course. They are interested in nothing but Twilight dolls these days, sadly. Anna could barely muster a "Hold out for one with the bow and arrows," and Eowyn dismissed the male Pevensies with a wave of her hand: "Yeah, those boys were fine in the movies. But that jailbait right there is not quality enough to risk Chris Hansen knocking on my door." Purple Arwen couldn't even manage that much: "Call me when Caspian shows up." I should have known she'd hold out for the exiled king.)
Also! Thanks from
heyorion for y'all helping out with the synesthesia project.

(Sorry, that's always bugged me. They always made a big deal in the books about Harry & Lily's green eyes, and they can't get Radcliffe to wear green contacts? Or CGI them green?)

Also, bleh @ the Dollhouse news. First the network messes with Whedon's vision, and now they put him in the death slot. With this news, plus the PD cancelation and Brooke Smith's sudden firing from Grey's Anatomy, this is a really shitty week for TV.

Date: 2008-11-08 11:21 pm (UTC)The Change.gov site is neat, but the whole "winning the technology war" thing on the GOP response site makes me sad. Perhaps I'm naive, but I really do feel that Obama wants to keep young people engaged, and in a post-MySpace world a site like this is how to do it. Reducing it to a "war" to win elections entirely misses the point and seems really, really cynical to me.
