HELLO

Jan. 6th, 2016 02:17 pm
cleolinda: (lolcat)
I have not checked in for a while! Also I'm so used to Twitter that I totally forgot about comments here and I NEED TO CHECK THOSE OMG.

  • I saw a Star War and immediately fell in love with it even though I was never that much into either trilogy before and it ate my Tumblr for like two weeks because I was too lazy to check my dash for other things to post, sorry about that

  • The Emo Kylo Ren meme is like my favorite thing ever and I'm not even sorry

  • WHERE IS ALL THE REY STUFF

  • NO I MEAN THE STUFF I CAN AFFORD (omg Hot Toys though)

  • This is important

  • I even got my very own phone-controlled BB-8 for Christmas. I have a problem

  • COUNTDOWN TO ROGUE ONE

  • still fighting the moth war, dammit

  • Medication update: Sprintec has absolutely wrecked my complexion over the last 4-5 months, so I am nursing it back to health with a minimalist regimen of Thayer's toner and CeraVe moisturizer

  • The Aromaleigh X-Files box/extras will be coming out in February, excite! (Shop is closed at the moment while Kristen moves.) Here's a closer look at Genome, plus quick looks at the other three eyeshadows. I'm pretty sure there will be additional non-box colors available as well--an "expansion pack"--but I haven't seen them yet

  • Mood is pretty good even considering seasonal depression; I'm just a completely useless lazy cuss, which I realized is because IT'S JANUARY

In other words, like pretty much everyone else, I have tons of stuff to do, but all I want to do is curl up with a book (new Alison Weir soon!) and hot chocolate.
cleolinda: (taintor 05)
Not feeling so well today, but! Quick note to say that the Aromaleigh X-Files inspired box (I'm helping!) will go up for pre-order at 3PM EST (what is that, about half an hour from now?), and here's a look at swatches of one of the eyeshadows, inspired by a scene from "The Sixth Extinction."

Also I got very cute alien socks and the Crimson Peak art book for my birthday.
cleolinda: (Default)
And I am very tired, and possibly sick, considering how many people sneezed on me. But I will say, it was at the Alabama Theatre, which is a gorgeous old-fashioned show-palace theater built in the '20s, and was lit to great effect for the occasion: Read more... )

So. I haven't been doing that great for a few weeks--I mean, okay, but I hurt my back, had a mild touch of depression--and haven't gotten a whole lot done. So it was particularly nice to get out of the house right now. I am helping a bit with an Aromaleigh X-Files-inspired box that Kristen's going to have out in early February, I think--pre-orders will be on the 15th, and I'll see if there's a preview of some kind to put up in the next week. But this is in the vein of the Primavera and Red Dragon boxes: eyeshadows, a lip product, a fragrance, and some kind of cheek color and/or highlighter as a set, with individual items available a couple of weeks later, and I get to do a huge inspiration/swatch picture post, and it's all super fun.

(Here's me wearing the Maledictio gloss from her Proserpina collection last night. The eyeshadow, what you can see of it, is Awe from Red Dragon and Dauphine.)

As far as the Hannibal recaps go, I'm still finishing up "Contorno" (3x05), and I think I'm going to jump back to 2x06 ("Futamono," speaking of Gideon), which I have at least half done from last year, so we'll have some context for the next couple of S3 episodes, then jump back to 3x07 ("Digestivo"), then maybe finish up that S2 storyline with 2x07 ("Yakimono," which is a great one), and then start in on the S3 Red Dragon storyline straight through to the end. IDK, it makes sense to me. Things are always super busy chez Jones this time of year, so that's a schedule that'll take us well into January, possibly February as well.
cleolinda: (red dragon)
‏@aromaleigh: Red Dragon extras are up, + a few remaining boxes! http://aromaleighcosmetics.com/exclusive-box-sets/

@aromaleigh: "DRACONIS" fragrance from the Red Dragon box, pre order now up. http://aromaleighcosmetics.com/draconis-pre-order/

(The notes are bergamot, linden blossom, honey, parchment, beeswax, dragon’s blood resin, labdanum, and blonde patchouli.)

@aromaleigh: "Dragon's Kiss" lipgloss pre order is up, as the available extras have sold out! http://aromaleighcosmetics.com/dragons-kiss-pre-order/

@cleolinda: (I'm so proud it sold out)

Here's a quick visual tour of the Red Dragon set, and here's the in-depth inspiration/swatch discussion; as with the This Is My Design collection, @tattle_crime and I consulted on both this box and the first-half-of-season-three Primavera set (pictures; inspiration).

I'm not addressing world events at the moment because... I don't even know where to begin, y'all. Is everyone around here okay?
cleolinda: (red dragon)

So here is the second Hannibal-themed Aromaleigh boxed set Freddie (@tattle_crime, fourth of her name, may her flame burn bright) and I consulted on. Every now and then you find yourself saying things like "So these eyeshadows are based on the show's Red Dragon storyline, which is about a serial killer's obsession with William Blake paintings, one of which he gets tattooed on his back and eventually eats." Such is the nature of pop culture cosmetics. Read more... )

I'm not sure if there will be any extras of the perfume available; another batch might be made, I'm not sure. There are EXTREMELY LIMITED QUANTITIES of the lip gloss, but after the massive amount of interest on Tumblr, Kristen might make a second batch (wait, breaking news--I think she definitely will?). Ah, OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT: EXTRAS WILL BE ON THE SITE--Dragon's Kiss, Awe, Wrath, Becoming, Leviathan, 666; Ddraig Goch is unrelated--STARTING NOVEMBER 15, 9 AM EST. What is that, a Sunday (SUNDAY, SUNDAY!)? I'll try to post some reminders between now and then, but definitely keep an eye out for those.
cleolinda: (dire ravenstag)
So! The Aromaleigh Primavera boxes that Freddie (@Tattle_Crime, reporter extraordinaire, hair game too strong) and I consulted on should have all arrived now, and the very limited-quantity extras are available. (GO GO GO!). So I wanted to walk through the themes and the visual inspirations and all of that, because honestly, matching the colors to the pictures has always been my favorite part.

First things first: the seasons 1-2 collection, the thirty "This Is My Design" colors, continue to be available. (I highly recommend Chrysalis, as it is both sparkly and easy to wear.) This year, though, Kristen's wanted to get into smaller batch collections, so she decided to do pre-orders for two boxed sets, one for the Florence half of season 2 and onse for the Red Dragon half. Thus, Kristen wanted to pull the themes for the first box from a painting that ended up being a major plot point in the first half: Botticelli's La Primavera.

cleolinda: (twilight lolcat)
So "let's take a day to livetweet Surprise Gender Swap Twilight" (yes, this is a real, official Stephenie Meyer book. This is not a drill) turned into a comparative-gender-studies week-long ordeal and I haven't even gotten to Vampire Baseball yet. (I'm over on my secondary Twitter account, @cleolindajones, for all this.) I'm having a lot of fun with it, but I definitely needed to take yesterday off, catch up on my sleep, and work on an Aromaleigh post. (Extras from the sold-out Primavera box will be available in the next few days? Don't let Kristen know I let you see this.) (I think Luciferus is the one I talked her into doing as an open edition? I didn't let you see this either.)

Anyway, if you'd like to catch up, here are the collected livetweets by day:

Also, the other week I posted a multimedia Dragon Con writeup detailing my adventures, including meeting Scott Thompson and Aaron Abrams, aka the "darling boy" story (*facepalm*), plus two different podcasts I was on to discuss it if you've ever wanted to hear me shout "FUCK A FUCKING DUCK," whee.
cleolinda: (hannibal)
For the full multimedia experience, hit Storify #1 (general adventures) and/or Storify #2 (only Hannibal-related happenings plus the Fan Expo in Canada the same weekend). Also, I'm on the latest, Hannibal series retrospective episode of A Matter of Taste, and they give me the first half hour to tell Dragon Con stories. (I was also surprisingly emotional about Hannigram. "He just wants to be with his mongoose!!") Emily and I also--after a great deal of technical trouble--have posted a fully Dragon Con-themed Made of Fail with our collected adventures, including the un-Hannibal-related ones. The AMOT stories were recorded second and so are a bit more practiced, but MOF has Emily's side of the experience as well. (Also, me shouting "FUCK A FUCKING DUCK!") So I've listed time codes throughout for your convenience, and you can actually hear me tell these stories aloud if you so desire.

We're currently working on the pre-ordered Aromaleigh boxes--Primavera will go out early next month, I think?--and I wanted to set up some tags for "inspiration post" discussions of those. I think we may have an extra surprise on the way as well, plus extras from both Primavera and Red Dragon will be available at some point, so keep an eye out for that.

UPDATES

cleolinda: (lolcat)
Thank you so much for all the support in the comments Thursday--and for all the courage in sharing some of your own stories. I tried to answer as many as I could, and then had to take a break for the day--I'm going to go back and answer some more, but even if I don't answer yours, please know that I'm reading them all, and I appreciate them all so much.

@cleolinda: Top LJ posts currently are ONTD and my ovaries. Good times.

Dragon Con plans )

IMPORTANT:

@Tattle_Crime: TC has procured some fantastic goodies for the #Hannibal fan panel at @DragonConHorror! @DeLaurentiisCo @lorettaramos [signed script picture!]

I was in charge of giving away a couple of those last year as a surprise, and that was really my favorite moment of the entire fan panel--the collective gasp when I read off the actors' names (and you know exactly whose name I saved for last, for maximum astonishment). This year, Scott Thompson and Aaron Abrams will also be at the convention, so if you are a Hannibal fan, this is definitely the year to go. I don't know if I'll get to meet them or not, but if I do, and manage not to run and hide, I will report back.

Unfortunately, I am pretty much out of Movies in Fifteen Minutes books to give away. (I owe someone one from last year; I'll bring that and try to find you.) I do have some books with the short fantasy story that got published this year; I might be able to bring a couple of those. As always, I will sign basically anything anyone puts in front of me, because I am still somewhat amazed that anyone wants me to. Last year I had people sign a little Evil Supply Co. notebook, so it was more like "omg sign my yearbook!" "you too!" As far as I know, I'm doing just the one Hannibal fan panel again, no table signings; I will be roaming free this year unless something else comes up. Who knows, I might even get to attend other people's panels (GASP).

ALSO IMPORTANT:

@aromaleigh: Save the date - Hannibal "Primavera" exclusive box ordering is 8/17 at 3 PM EST!

Which is to say, TOMORROW. While there are still tons of open-edition collections (including the 30 This Is My Design eyeshadows from last year. Read the back stories here), Kristen wants to move towards smaller batches. So this year's Hannibal colors are a really, really limited edition. There will be two box themes, I think--the Florence-themed Primavera, pre-orders of which will go very quickly on Monday (SERIOUSLY IF YOU WANT IT SET AN ALARM AND JUMP ON THAT), and a later Red Dragon box, which we'll be working on after the season ends.

That's all for now, I think? I am getting very close to finishing the "Secondo" recap, and I'm already feeling so much better that I'm hoping to blaze through "Aperitivo" pretty quickly (I have probably just jinxed it). Anyway, keep an eye out for "Secondo," it's a big one, huge Dracula tangent, you can only hope to contain me, etc.
cleolinda: (lolcat)
@cleolinda: ICYMI: An overstuffed #Hannibal 2x05 "Mukozuke" recap (rewatch?)

@cleolinda: Stayed up until 2 am outlining the next recap. Caffeine is great, I can hear colors

@osheamobile: cleo no

@cleolinda: CLEO YES

So yeah, a year later, I finally Finished A Thing. Not to get unduly behind-the-scenes about the process, but I picked at it on and off for that entire actual year, finally vastly revising and rewriting it over the last week or two. I've always had this tautological kind of thing going where the longer it takes to finish something, the longer it takes. Like, there is this diminishing-returns quality of slowing down exponentially as time slips past me. So I'm trying to recap "Futamono" as--let's say, pro-actively as possible, rather than get sucked into that undertow again. At this point, I've got it outlined with initial thoughts, all the pictures laid out, and all the livetweeting worked in (there wasn't very much that week, apparently); now I get to hit the transcript and a few interviews.

I'm still retraining my brain to sentence the words real nice after a year of medication adjustments; that numbered list of Swimming Pool Symbology was originally a swamp of scattered paragraphs. (This right here is my third start-from-scratch attempt at a follow-up entry, in fact.) I personally think the recap turned out well, but that then means I have to go from something I fiddled with for a year to something I'd like to finish in less than a week. Thank God it's spring, at least.

As a side note, it's extra fun recapping the season two episodes and seeing where we got the eyeshadow concepts from. "Mukozuke" actually didn't have any, but we had some good ones for the first four episodes:

It's funny, though, because I tried multiple times to catch up on my sleep today and couldn't. (And I woke up naturally at 6:30 am, after only four hours of sleep.) It doesn't quite feel like mania, but it's something. I'm aware that a burnout is very possible in the near future, but if I don't finish the season by June 4, that's fine, and I really have been looking forward to writing up "Futamono" and "Yakimono." So maybe I can make some hay while the proverbial sun shines.

OH--here's what I meant to say--I need to set aside an hour or two to go hang out in the recap comments, but I've been trying to keep moving forward instead of checking on them constantly. But I'll be checking in at some point.
cleolinda: (lolcat)

(so, yeah, Italian leather is a thing that's happening)

(Please note that we're back on Thursdays again)

(P.S. Zachary Quinto is going to play THE PATIENT)

So I am trying to make this the occasion of my return to recapping. "Mukozuke" creeps ever closer to being done. Pray for me; times is hard.

(That said, Kristen may have a Murder Sparkle surprise soon.)

Speaking of Aromaleigh, because I can never resist a good segue, I'm in the middle of Blade Runner/More Human Than Human robot eyeshadow inspiration posts. Tomorrow will be the Incept Date color, I think. We also announced that we're developing Twin Peaks eyeshadow, although I'm not sure when that collection would come out and I remain hellishly behind on the pilot recap. Also, there are new Asteriai star nymph and Galactic duochrome collections that I didn't even have anything to do with; I am pretty sure that Kristen never sleeps.

More cheerfully than it would have been last week: My sister had a serious emergency surgery (I'm being vague on purpose, not my health issues to talk about, etc.) at the end of February, but she's doing much better now. Still recovering, but I think this past Thursday or so was the first day she seemed like herself again.

A couple of weeks before that, I had a Sudden Dental Panic that turned out to just be "stop clenching your jaw." This was, therefore, the Best Dentist Visit Ever. I promptly went home, slipped on a sweetgum tree-ball, fell down the deck steps, and twisted my ankle. Except that it still hurts (but only sometimes, at some angles) a month later, but more the top of my foot than my ankle, and I think maybe I have a hairline fracture. Which... there's not much to do about that but stay off it (which I have not been able to do) and wear a Deluxe Ankle Stabilizer (CVS, $12).

I have started trying to get the ball rolling and the money saving for Dragon Con 2015, but I'm also concerned that at some point in the next six months I'll just be standing around somewhere and spontaneously fall down and break the other foot. However, I live in hope.

Also, I have a fantasy short story set in the War of the Seasons universe, through the latest Silence in the Library Kickstarter, with art by Dawn Murphy.

Also-also, [livejournal.com profile] foresthouse and I just did our first solo episode of Made of Fail, in which, among other things, I try to explain Jupiter Ascending to her (1:29:00ish) over the course of about seven minutes. That said, we do start off by discussing my haunted teeth.

I think that's about it for now, though.
cleolinda: (dire ravenstag)
Let me not bury the lede on this one: THERE ARE THIRTY (30) COLORS AND YOU CAN GET THEM HERE, INDIVIDUALLY OR AS A SET, AS FULL SIZES OR $1 SAMPLES.

We started in March when I started talking about Aromaleigh eyeshadows with Freddie at Tattle-Crime.com, who (being far more intrepid than I am) bounced up to Kristen on Twitter and asked if she could make Ravenstag and Tattler eyeshadows. So, on March 14, IIRC, Ravenstag went up--I'm talking less than 24 hours later here, that's how creative Kristen is--which was the day "Hassun" aired, I think? And Tattler followed the next Friday. One she started watching the show and got interested in doing more, I suggested that the new one(s) go up each Friday to coincide with the season two episode broadcasts, since fandom basically considers that a weekly Hannibal Day and gets festive all day long. And so then we just... started making it up as we went along. We started with twenty as our projected number, because that's generally the size of a full Aromaleigh collection. And then... we kept going. So we ended up finishing with thirty. Freddie and I were basically sounding boards and creative consultants, and I did Tumblr posts each week explaining where each color came from and what it was inspired by; it was important to us that you could point to a specific image and say, "You can put this on your face," and that the color would have some kind of thematic resonance. We wanted to be able to put them together and have the palette of the show:

Then, after a second year of no Emmy nominations and the fandom's grieving indignation thereunto, Kristen suggested we go ahead and put up the final color on Thursday (and also put the whole collection up for the weekly Thursday-Wednesday sale, until July 16th. SAAAAAAALE), so the Grand Reckoning happened a day early. Which is, of course, the name of the final color:

RECKONING )

AND NOW, A MASTER LIST OF ALL THE COLORS, WITH PICTURES AND TRIVIA, FROM ABATTOIR TO WOOF

Click through each color's link to get to the inspiration pictures and/or meta post. Also, I like to refer people to this How Do I Eyeshadow post to explain how to apply multiple colors to different kinds of eyelids (I realized along the way that I have hooded eyes). A number of the This Is My Design colors have duochrome or sparkle colors in common: copper, gold, blue/teal/aqua, rose, even a couple of chartreuses. Some have olive undertones; others like Antler Velvet and Cygnus, have surprisingly smoky bases, while Woof and Unorthodox have similar tones and can be worn together. I'm still experimenting, but a bold red like Tattler can be softened up with Phoenix or Veneer for more of a sunset effect, for example.

Generally I get samples, test them on the back of my hand (where you can also see which colors might look good together), do a test run on my actual face to see how it looks with my complexion and eye color, and then get a few full sizes accordingly. Sometimes I just buy something sight unseen because I know it'll be one of My Colors; other times, the samples surprise me. There are a number of You Gotta See This In Person colors, but in terms of what will look good on just about anyone, I'm going to guess Chrysalis (seriously, it blends with tons of stuff), Gotcha, Feast, and Bellissima (purples tend to work on various complexions), Cygnus, and Lure. Bone Arena, applied with a light hand, is also a good brow or inner corner highlight, rather than a lid color itself (not that I would stop you). Also, my cheerfully doofy amateur swatches at each individual post show the colors applied dry and then with a damp brush ("foiled"), which sometimes reveals a completely different color (Ravenstag, Starling, and Entrapment are examples of this).

Almost all the colors are vegan (with, as far as I can tell, the exception of Bellissima and Ikebana, which have carmine), and most of the thirty are lip safe (the exceptions being Craquelure, Entrapment, Feast, Gotcha, Lucid, Lure, Murder Tie, Perception, and Sublime), meaning you could mix something like Folie à Deux, Bellissima, Ikebana, Tattler, Persuasion, or Phoenix with lip balm or gloss. (Or Ravenstag, for that matter.) Persuasion and Phoenix are actually all-in-one colors that you can also use as blush as well.

So here's a master list of the colors and their conceptual backgrounds--characters, quotes, episodes, imagery, what-have-you. As a bonus, where applicable, I have added the unofficial name I tended to use conversationally for each color. It's a lot easier to say "Cherry Tree Is People" than "Ikebana" ("Ikewhat?" "Ikebana." "What's an ike--" "Flower arranging." "OH THAT ONE") to, let's say, my mother, who enjoyed watching the posts go up each week even though she has no idea what's happening on the show. ONWARD:

And there you have it. Also, I just got some interesting news about my Labor Day plans (maybe I will take eyeshadow with me). But more on that once I find out more.

HELLO AGAIN

Jul. 6th, 2014 10:59 am
cleolinda: (key to the kingdom)
So today is all about pretty colors, because I meant to swatch the Ever in Your Favor shadows while they were on sale and didn't get that done in time. So, after the cut, 1) the Margot Verger color we decided to do after all and 2) my swatches of the Sherlock-themed Brilliant Deductions samples that I have, because they're on sale this week, in honor of the series 4 announcement. Also, while we're here, I'll note that I'm going to start posting sort of a retrospective of the This Is My Design colors each day on this tag until ~THE GRAND FINALE~ next Friday, because every time I post about a new color on Tumblr, there is (wonderfully) someone who reblogs it with "WHY HAVE I NOT HEARD ABOUT THESE BEFORE." Oh, you will hear about them. YES, YOU WILL HEAR ABOUT THEM. If I had actually been the one in the glitter mines, I might feel more shy about expressing pride in an accomplishment, but so much of this is Kristen's hard work that I have noooo shame. Like, I started "Survive" off by picking the name, and Freddie was very much "AQUA, YES GOOD," but we are otherwise blessedly free of that concern.

And there you have it. There are other blues and greens in the collection as well, but as this was before my Consulting Recapper time when I started trying new, cannibal-themed things, I dared not attempt those colors. I also took pictures of a handful of Serpens dragon colors and the Ever in Your Favor samples that I have, while I was out swatching cannibal colors anyway, so you may get a flood of those soon. Plus some of the new Okeanides colors, I have some of those now. Basically I'm awash in tiny bags and covered in glitter, is what I'm saying. HOWEVER. My current makeup-related priority, if I can manage it, is to do the This Is My Design colors six at a time like I did these swatches--because I'm going to try to post all five sets of six, one each day, until THE DAY OF RECKONING. I mean, in addition to the graphics like the one up top; I'll post those anyway, because I want to look at them all together and GLOAT OVER HAVING FINISHED SOMETHING FOR ONCE.

cleolinda: (black ribbon2)
Okay, I just saw Maleficent and I kind of loved it so if you would like to discuss it here, go for it, but I have to warn you, I'm also finishing Penny Dreadful tonight, and my thoughts are already so scattered that I'm considering doing voice posts just because I let text entries sit here for weeks at a time and constantly re-edit them to keep them current then don't post them anyway. In other news, my Zoloft reduction is actually going a lot better than this paragraph would lead you to think.

Previous entry! I forgot to actually link to the e-book anthology containing my Black Ribbon short story, which is a ghost story about 1) Rose's mother and 2) making life decisions and 3) thus I kind of wanted people to feel a little changed after they read it. You'll have to tell me if it works. Also I will have another short story coming out soon, although this is fantasy-themed.

Eyeshadow! The last three colors in the This Is My Design collection have been decided and named, so we'll be finishing up in the next couple of weeks, with a total of 30. For #28 this past Friday, champagne and something pink: Read more... )

I've really liked that we've had bold, experimental colors--things I wouldn't have tried except for the show theme--but also colors that are pretty everyday-wearable, while still interesting. I think I'm going to try this one with Cygnus. On the other hand, this week's color will be the one we discussed in the comments of the previous entry, the one where I explained why I thought we shouldn't do it, then promptly turned around after that discussion and said that maybe we should. I threw out a name, and Kristen immediately thought of a new way to do it. So we'll see how that turns out.

Meanwhile! Here's A Matter of Taste's discussion of Alien; I am currently prepping to record the Aliens episode with them tomorrow. Later in August, I will return... for reasons.

cleolinda: (dire ravenstag)
No, for real, that's the traditional name for the Hannibal hiatus. Pun game too strong in this fandom, what can I say.

So, personal update: the medication adjustment seems to have evened out, I hope, and I'm mostly done with the other project I was having to work on. I notice that, in my life, as a near-infallible rule, if I say "I'm gonna do this," the universe conspires to make sure that I do not do that thing. So I am afraid to say "now I get to go back to the recaps," but that is the plan, yeah. And honestly, I think it's worked out for the best this way, because season 2 was a twelve-course meal thrown at our heads, and it was really probably better for my blood pressure that we did not have recap discussions about the Vergers' storyline as it was unfolding. Like I said the other night, I do not even regret saying that we get to "digest" the season now, because that is, in truth, what we kind of need right now.

Which I said on the latest, finale-themed episode of A Matter of Taste. (That makes three I was on this season--this, a season preview episode discussing other TV shows as well, and "Takiawase," as the world's worst grief counselor.) I will very likely be on later this summer for one or more non-Hannibal movie-themed episodes--last summer, I was on for three of the Hannibal movies (to wit: Silence of the Lambs; Hannibal; Red Dragon), but not for Hannibal Rising. I thought I'd be able to continue pretending that was outside continuity, but after this season, and Bryan Fuller's revelation that they're going to be using more of it next season--while still somehow redoing the back story completely? THE SKY IS THE LIMIT--it's pretty clear that I'm going to have to deal with that. I watched the movie two or three weeks ago and... well, we'll get to that. Point being, I'm going to read the book and then write up what the hell is going on with all that, for people who would rather skip it themselves.

ALSO: I will be on Anglo-Filles in a week or so discussing all things Dracula, and I should really probably get on that whole rewatching-classic-movies thing.

Meanwhile, we're having one of those Everything Going to Hell All At Once months chez Jones--dishwasher died and we've been washing dishes by hand a couple of weeks now, washing machine died but at least we replaced that, seal on a toilet tank suddenly broke so toilet itself is out of commission which is inconvenient but more to the point it flooded through the den ceiling, and today is Foliage Chainsaw Massacre as we struggle to prune back an eight-foot hedge and about fifteen feet of shrub-tree before our next-door neighbor is 100% done with us, since aforesaid twenty-foot shrub-trees are currently looming over her house. Assuming that calamity does not strike us, the recaps will pick back up with "Mukozuke" at some unguessable point.

(Fifteen minutes after I wrote that earlier this morning, I slipped outside on wet brick and hurt both knees and a wrist. Of course I did.)

In the meantime, here are this week's Aromaleigh "This Is My Design" colors! Veneer and Entrapment are #23 and #24 out of a probable 30 total, and we'll continue to release new ones on Friday throughout June: Read more... )
cleolinda: (dire ravenstag)
Of course I'm not finished with "Mukozuke," so I'm going to be juggling two recaps--once again--because I have a project to finish, and my request for more hours in the day hasn't gone through yet. My request for a Beverly eyeshadow did, however!

Click through to see them next to the inspiration pictures, which show how wonderfully Kristen actually captured the concepts.

ALSO: It is the show's one-year anniversary, and tonight's episode is gonna be WILD. *people confetti*

cleolinda: (dire ravenstag)
I'm making good time on "Takiawase"--it's just that "Hassun" ran (extra) late because of another project I had to do, so now this is also running late. At some point I'm going to get out from under the backlog, but today is not that day. However, some of y'all in the "Hassun" comments asked if we could have an open discussion thread for the episode currently airing, so: here we are. I'm going to have to be on Twitter to pitch in for the ratings and collect east and west coast tweets for the Storify, but LJ is definitely better for threaded conversations; I'll try to drop in between broadcasts. And if it turns out people are interested in a discussion post like this, we'll keep doing them. To state the obvious: there will be spoilers in the comments. Try to keep it to spoilers through this episode, though, in case people don't want to know about ~the future~ yet.

While we're here, we have two Aromaleigh colors this week:

I mean, all the colors will be there for a good long while, but these are the two newest. I haven't seen them in person yet, but they both have some color-shifting business going on--Lure is meant to be Abigail's multicolored sweater, and Murder Tie has to have some stealth red in it, of course--so it'll be an adventure trying to take pictures of them. Still working on the Tattler swatches--I've found a couple of lighter colors that blend well with it, so that it looks kind of like a sunset. But I'll get back to that after I'm done with "Takiawase."

By the way, here's the preview for tonight--and NBC Hannibal's Tumblr tags:

#Hannibal #NBC #Television #Previews #So last Friday was like the first JFC episode #This Friday is THE REAL GD DEAL #There's not even a part of the episode that we can call out to be ready for #IT'S JUST THE WHOLE THING

Buckle up.
