*** flop ***
Dec. 16th, 2008 09:41 pmLong day, low blood sugar--tomorrow is Sister Girl's birthday (I told you December is a busy month chez Jones)--so the linkspam is somewhat compact. 'Cause I'm tired.
The Shorty Awards at Twitter: Please notice that Stephen Fry is somehow not winning the Humor category. I demand that this be rectified immediately. Also, winners will give 140-character speeches in New York. I'm not even making that up. You know you want him to be there.
(Full disclosure: I have received one vote in this category. Reading over my twits or tweets or whatever they are--they are really not award material. They are "random thoughts I now don't have to squeeze into a linkspam post." So this is not a beg for nominations. However, if you would like to nominate my friend David in the social media category--he writes for AdFreak and has his own blog, The Social Path--feel free to do so, because he really does deserve it.)
More than 130 A-list actors oppose SAG strike vote; SAG Leaders Fight NY "Subversives"; SAG Splitsville: Star Actors vs Star Actors; SAG Leaders vs NY Division: Rosenberg Cancels Emergency Board Meeting; NYC Town Hall Accepts AMPTP Deal.
'Delgo': Animated movie scores worst box office opening ever; All-Star 'Delgo' Bombing Worse Than Expected: $237 Per Theater; Biggest animated flop of all time?
Slumdog Sweeps the Weekend Awards!; Austin Film Critics Awards; Four New Critic Top Tens: St. Louis, San Diego, San Francisco and Southeastern; Iron, Knight Make AFI Top 10.
Four More Oscar Scripts Including Kaufman’s ‘Synecdoche’ and Lumet’s ‘Rachel Getting Married.’

Joe: Rise of Cobra'; New 'Witch Mountain' Onesheet; Exclusive: 'Two Lovers' Poster Premiere; First Look: Seth Rogen and Anna Faris in 'Observe and Report'; 'The Hangover' Photos Will Not Make Bright Light Hurt Your Brain; Hi-Res Teaser Poster for Rob Zombie's H2; Eight Promo Posters For 'Clock Tower.'
Trailers and clips: New Clip From Disney/Pixar's 'Up'; New 'Lost' Season Five Clip; Tyler Perry's Latest Gets a Trailer, Poster; Two new clips from Sodenbergh's 'Che'; Exclusive Clip: Watch Mark Ruffalo In Acclaimed Crime Drama ‘What Doesn’t Kill You’; First Glimpse Of 'Casshern' Director's Ninja Epic ['Goemon']; First Look: Paul Rudd's ‘I Love You, Man.’

Another Coraline Box of Mystery! Meanwhile, Coraline alphabet posters are going up around the internet--AICN got A, scifi.com got S, and Unca Neil, of course, got N.
cleojones' review of 'The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.'
Austin Critics Name 'Dark Knight' Best of 2008; Warners' PR Cedes Control of 'Dark Knight' Oscar Campaign to Fans; 'Dark Knight' director Nolan illuminates four scenes; A Christopher Nolan discussion of the Joker interrogation scene that's better than anything on the DVD.
Los Angeles Times on How to Transform 'Beedle the Bard' Into a Film; [link removed by request]; New Photo of Rupert Grint in 'Cherrybomb.'
'Twilight' sequel speeds ahead for November 20, 2009; Weitz 'Will Stay Loyal To Twilight Story'; Michael Copon, Ben Barnes Or Others? Who Are Your Dream ‘Twilight’ Series Stars?; There are just too many "stocking stuffer" jokes for me to pick one; Least believable rumor since the death hoax: Robert Pattinson to Play Jack Sparrow’s Brother in Next Pirates Movie, I am so sure.
However, I did solve one of the great Twilight mysteries today: The lipstick's not Cargo or Nars. It's Benefit Cosmetics. I'm surprised they went with a Betty shade rather than a Gabbi with his coloring, but there you are.
(I can't wait to see what they put on Ben Barnes.)
Baker Dishes On 'Wolfman' Makeup.
Will Kevin Bacon Join Zac Efron in ‘Footloose’ Remake? ‘Never Say Never,’ Says Actor.
And a somewhat abrupt jump to The Slot: Executive Koala Has Some Personal Problems [NSFW] [Found Footage].

Date: 2008-12-17 04:11 am (UTC)Do I have to register on Twitter to vote for Stephen Fry? Because I totally will if I have to. I have loved that man since I saw Jeeves & Wooster when I was a kid.

Date: 2008-12-17 04:17 am (UTC)This rumor is so incredibly unbelievably fantastically ridiculously impossibly WONDERFUL, that I almost wish it were true for the sake of sheer cracktasticness.

Date: 2008-12-17 04:22 am (UTC)Oh I'm so glad they're staying loyal to the Twilight texts, just think what would happen if they actually tried to make decent dialogue from it! The fangirls would never follow...

Date: 2008-12-17 04:44 am (UTC)I never even heard of Delgo until I saw it on Rotten Tomatoes. That is oddly sad.
R-Pattz kind of already is one of the Sparrows. Oddly pretty, unwashed, hilarious, often prone to the mumblies, scared of hysterical shrieking fangirls/undead pirates (same thing, really)...I would love it. SO MUCH.

Date: 2008-12-17 06:20 am (UTC)WOLVERINE: Film looks good- Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is just *perfect*; but why are Gambit's eyes normal, instead of Black conjunctiva with red irises? Just to give the fanboys something to criticize? *g*
A quick TWILIGHT question: Was Taylor Lautner (Jacob) wearing a wig in the film, or was that his real hair?

Date: 2008-12-17 08:26 am (UTC)Also, am I alone in thinking that RPattz could work as Jack's brother? But more along the lines of being the black sheep of the Sparrow family, i.e. the one who went "straight" (and filling in the straight man role that Will was in during the previous movies). Yeah, I think it's almost certainly a false rumor but I might have been drinking a little and that little plot idea probably won't sound so good tomorrow, but it kind of does right now...
And the supposed reason why Brand was taken out of the running is hilarious.
