From [livejournal.com profile] joannad: The Russian hackers got someone else. Whatever you do, do not click on the user journal or Shoebox Project links mentioned in the entry. And to secure your own journal, choose a secret question NOW. (ETA: Or not?) Here's what I would advise doing, in terms of setting your question/answer: since we're worried about hackers and not people in our daily lives stealing our journals, I would suggest writing the question and the answer down on a piece of paper, not storing it anywhere on your computer or online, and guarding that paper with your life. Here's why: choose a question, and for the answer, pick something completely unrelated. What was your first pet's name? Hardware store. You see what I'm saying? Something that no one would ever, ever guess, even by combing your journal for clues, because it's a non sequitur in the first place. And that's why you're going to want to write it down, in case you forget your randomly-chosen unrelated thing.

Okay, in less urgent news: If you didn't catch the ETA on the Twi-spam entry, Hot Topic has given up on trying to set line-up times and they're just giving out wristbands for Thursday and Friday in a first come/first serve free-for-all. People who don't hear about this until they show up "early" tomorrow night? Are going to be exquisitely pissed.

In even less urgent news: Sometimes people have to interview writers for school assignments (you know, "Interview a published author"), and because I'm not as scary as people who are actually important, sometimes they ask me. So if you'd like to hear (well, read) me answer questions I am spectacularly unqualified to answer, my most recent interviewer has let me archive some here.

In just really frustrating news: Our dishwasher has officially given up the ghost. Sigh.

Something fun: from [livejournal.com profile] t3andcrumpets, pretty, crazy-color eyeshadow that I have been drooling over all week. I'm not saying I'd go full-on rainbow with it (like on the front page), but you can shop by color, if you know what looks good with your eyes. I might just be crazy enough to try Hibiscus or Blaze in the distant future, I don't know.

(Purples are so preeeeettyyyyy.)

I have boards nailed up over windows. If Boston fans take their Twilight as serious as their baseball - okay, not the same fans per se but there's something rooted there - we're in big trouble. BUT:

The crazed Apple store appearance is now available on iTunes for download and because I have a mindless job that lets me listen to endless amounts of internet radio I listened to the entire hour...stop it with the *facepalm* my job is REALLY boring!

Anyways - the best part is RPattz mentioning his favorite book character, or at least one he can relate to, John Self from Martin Amis' "Money"

Stolen from wikipedia.org, the summary describes self as: "an archetypal hedonist and slob; he is usually drunk, an avid consumer of pornography and prostitutes, eats too much and, above all, spends too much"

What would all those Twilight fans think of their Edward if they only knew...

AND all of the vanity fair shoot is online (another hour video - hell no) but the first couple skip throughs and I can conclude that this videographer has a job even MORE boring than mine and whoever picked the music for that photo shoot didn't realize the ANGST that should have been brought, to set the appropriate Twilight mood.

Eek! Sorry for the super long comment

Heh, no problem. I just wish iTunes didn't hate my computer.

And seriously, take care in Saugus. That's going to be the bad one, since the thing is going to sell out tonight (it is, don't lie, we all know it is. It's probably sold out NOW), and hundreds of people are going to get there "early" tomorrow night and it will get ugly.

I don't know how I feel about Game of Thrones being adapted. Honestly I could watch fantasy stuff until the cows come home, but I don't like HBO and their need to be important. I've loved the recent Legend of the Seeker, which has totally bastardized the original Sword of Truth books, but is so enjoyable in its own right. In addition the BBC Merlin has been far above expectations, so I feel that I'm living in sort of a golden era of fantasy and I don't want it ruined.

I expect my golden age to come to its downfall at the hands of Twilight. It survived Eragon, but I don't know if it can handle the sparkling vampires.

My take on the "Don't blame Idol!" article- saying "It's not their fault because she was crazy anyway." is incredibly callous. Yes, it's possible- probable even- that other people would have made fun of her, and that her mental illness needed to be treated. But that doesn't excuse the role that being mocked on national television played in her problems. If this leads to more people expressing concern over the culture of reality shows like "What Not to Wear" and "American Idol", I'm all for it. It's about time we started to wonder why so many people tune in to watch people being taunted and humiliated every night.

My best friend and I once did a power-afternoon of bad movie mania: King Author, Van Helsing, The Shadow, AND The Phantom all in one sitting.
I agree that The Shadow gets all the little things right while missing the mark entirely. I mean, Tim Curry? And Sir Ian? Together? Also: the villain (and I am not making this up) is the descendant of a Mongolian, comes from Tibet, threatens to blow up America with 'ancient' Chinese technology...so multi-cultural of it!
The Phantom? PUUUUUUURE CHEEEEEESE. It is like the last ten minutes of Van Helsing but it goes on forever and you see Billy Zane's ass. And his horse talks to his wolf. His WOOOOOOOOOLF.
