So. Mostly productive today; posted True Blood recap #7 late this afternoon--I still have last night's episode to recap as well. (While we're here: An interview with Sam "Werecollie" Trammell [no spoilers as far as I can tell].)

Oh, and something I think I'm going to start using Twitter for--you know those ALERT ALERT ALERT posts I do sometimes? I'm still going to do those for OH MY GOD GO HERE NOW things, but if I see something really awesome (litmus test: do I start shrieking and clapping like a fool?) that isn't quite that urgent, I will probably post the link on Twitter first (example) and then have it in the normal linkspam later in the day. DUDE, NO WAY. Just today in my computer programming class [yeah, like we ever do any actual work] I was talking about this program I'd seen on Animal Planet last night, featuring the world's biggest animals.. And one of them was a rabbit. And then we got to talking about vampires somehow.. And then the two subjects merged in my mind and I blurted out, "OH MY GOD, BUNNICULA." I'd totally forgotten about those books!

Bunnicula kicked. Ass. I loved those books as a kid, even if I did think that zombified turnips were going to get me at night.

People have been going ape shit about Anne Pressly's death around here. I mean, it's sad, yes. She was quite brutally attacked in her own home. But people in this country die similarly horrific deaths every day, and it doesn't make the news. I'll admit that my reaction was more of a 'holy shit, that happened like a mile away from where I live' than a 'oh noes, a cute blonde semi-famous television personality died.'

Although it does seem like central Arkansas is going to hell in a handbasket at the moment. Two kids were shot and killed at UCA in Conway, right up the road from Little Rock. Crazy.

Now that commercials have been playing, I have had so many horror filled lolz! For example, this evening I was in my room studying when I heard some of my roommates out in our living room, watching TV.

"Ohmigod, I really want to see this!" (My ears perk up, I love movie talk.)

"Did you read the book?" asks roommate #2. (I run through the book to movies out right now...Secret Life of Bees comes to mind..hmm...suddenly, my mind turns to...)

"No, but it looks really good! Kind of scary, you know, its about vampires!"

(Oh no. OH NO.)

"I think it looks really creepy," chimes in roommate #3.

(I want to cry. CRY. As we all know, IT LOOKS BAD! Like, so bad that I want to see it just to laugh for the next week.)

I saw my first Twilight TV trailer the other day. I laughed hysterically and my brother just thought I was crazy. I don't think I helped things when I tried to explain the books to him. He just shook his head and went outside to have a cigarette.

HSM3 was disappointing. (My friends and I saw the Friday night late show, with alcohol. Aside from 2 20-something couples where the guy had clearly been dragged there, we were the only people. We cackled a lot.)

It really needed a better conflict. There was just some lame "omg, where will we go to college" drama and a musical about.. senior year of high school, which was an unnecessary and pointless meta-level. There should have been something like... the drama department got a funding cut, and can't do a spring musical, but the drama teacher is retiring, so the kids all band together to put on a surprise musical for her, and then the school officials are ~moved~ and agree to fund the drama department again because that is the power of musicals. (My friends were just like, "dude, let it go, it's High School Musical.") Also, the songs just didn't seem as catchy, with the exception of the loltastic "The Boys are Back" junkyard bandanna dance extravaganza.

I pointed out to my sister that the ending "musical" would make no sense if based in reality b/c there was no cohesive element at all. I agree about the songs. In the first movie, at least, the songs made sense in their scenes. It was like someone said okay we have to sing, it is a musical, sing this and just stuck something random in there.
Sadly I had no alcohol although it was much needed. Well, there's always "Twilight."

The Jennifer Hudson story is just so sad. And then I heard the story about the anchorwoman and...it's awful, too. Do you ever think, sometimes, that the world isn't supposed to be this way? There are moments when it boggles me. I also heard that over 400 murders have been committed so far this year in the Chicago area - and my city is concerned because there have been over 20. It's disturbing.

Cheerful and furry is good. OMG puppies and kitties are so cute!
