Please note that a good 70% of my Tonner announcement freakout euphoria earlier today was specifically doll-related. Remember, I already made my list of Ten Dolls I Would Like to See Tonner Make, so... this is all doll-collector crazy right here. Mostly.

(Since I mention a Susan doll in that top ten entry, here's pictures of the Narnia dolls Tonner pulled from their site [maybe they went back to the drawing board?]. Not only do I want them to actually get around to selling these, because I desperately want a Susan, but I also want them to make a Caspian so bad so I can buy him for her. I know, it's crazy, but for some reason I love Susan in the movies. [That's probably not how you expected me to finish a sentence beginning "I know, it's crazy," is it?] )

Also, in completely unrelated news, I created a media page on my little personal wiki, mostly as a scrapbook for myself so I can remember when people let me pretend I was someone important (whee!). So SUCK IT, WIKIPEDIA! Media outlets have occasionally mistaken me for someone notable enough to write about!

Anyway.

I CALL FOR ANY NEW YORK ONTD MEMBER TO GET A DAMN FANSIGN. HE IS ATTACHED TO A WIRE, HE IS NOT GOING ANYWHERE.

I completely agree with the comment about Josh Groban. It was absurd, and I think whoever came up with the idea should -- I don't know, have to endure something unpleasant, because SERIOUSLY. But he really went for it and performed admirably, given the circumstances.

The rest of them... no. Just. They were all bad, but I felt worst for Heidi, because I love Project Runway but more because she looked as though she understood how bad it was and was not happy about having to deal with it, unlike the others who did not seem to get that they sucked. In his acceptance speech Jeff Probst actually said something to the effect of, "You know, Jimmy [Kimmel] told us the nothing bit wouldn't play!" NEWSFLASH: IT DID NOT.

(Also: Jeff Probst: 1; Will Arnett + Jason Bateman: 0... do I sense something wrong with this picture?)

You know, when I did my degree in Italian, I never thought it'd be useful for reading the captions on posters for a movie about sparkly vampires. Curse my lack of foresight!

Little things about translation always amuse me. One of Edward's talents is 'the reading of the thought'. Bella's special abilities are: being immune to mindreading, 'inclined towards accidents' and 'attracting misfortune'.

Date: 2008-09-23 02:34 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Yeah, I know just enough Italian to read most of the captions--I love that they gave the date of when Edward and Bella became "official," because that poster is, like Edward himself, apparently a twelve-year-old girl.

That Emmy's Awkward Moments in 2 minute breakdown video was...painful. Absolutely painful. I am so glad I'm about as far away from that as I can possibly be (Australia). I could see an X-men (1st movie) style wave of awkward/bad TV slowly consuming the country as a result of that. *shudder*

Eww. You're right. Though it's only the opening scene, it's almost entirely ripped from m15m. D:

Though, the author's explanation is interesting, since if it's true it means somebody somewhere is doing mini-plays of Cleo's parodies. I wonder if there's any way that kind of thing could be parlayed into appliance-fixing cash? Don't people have to pay rights when they use someone's script in a play?

ROFL @ the Japanese Twilight scans. So it's now officially a manga about a schoolgirl with unique secret spiritual powers that gets drawn into this magical world, where she befriends some shape-shifting hotties that turn into giant demon wolf-dogs and forms a chaste teenage romance with a mysterious, golden-eyed bishie who protects her from all kinds of evil creatures, despite kinda being an evil creature himself?

Five, you can talk to the other members of the audience about something you both actually care about.

I'm choosing not to read too much into the comments about Y: The Last Man, because that would just make me sad. I mean, I do get the need to be more focused and narrow than the comics, which had the space to ramble around, say, the theater company doing a Last Man play for an issue. I'm really not sure what's up with the "ticking clock" thing, though. Shouldn't the first movie just be about, say, them trying to get to Dr. Mann's lab or something? Y is a road story; it doesn't need no effin' ticking clock.

Also, it's a shame USA Today didn't mention the most WTFery Philadelphia/NJ filming lately- Transformers 2.

Yeah, I mean...it's sort of like Farscape: they get more and more people after them. And they have to get to Dr. Mann's lab to save humanity! There's already tension! What's the point of having a monkey separation story? I mean, he's pulling that idea straight from the book, and it's cool, but, like you, I don't want to read too much into io9's interpretation of Caruso's comment.
