That emerald is...wow.

As for the Wolverine trailer: YAY for the trailer, but man, is it messing with my stress levels. I can't figure out if post-Weapon X Wade is supposed to be the one who has two katanas and leaps in the air and whirls around and generally looks like a badass, or if he's supposed to be the bizarro thing with blades taped to his hands and weird lines on his body and no mouth (HUH?). And the glimpse of someone with weird lines on him SHOOTING LASERS FROM HIS EYES just has me ALL kinds of confused.

On the other hand, the movie is looking a little more promising with this new trailer. I like the slightly conspiracy-ish hints that there's a greater plot going on than just Wolvie tearing around.

Oh, also, can you remind me where your FriehdFeed thing is? I know you linked it recently but I can't fiiiind it. :)

As we kick-start our coverage of the march to 'New Moon'

Sigh. Just when poor Robert seemed to have regained the will to live. Now it's right back into the whiskey bottle every morning, trying to remember a time when 14 year olds didn't stalk him and terrifying mothers didn't want him to bite them.

Meanwhile I'm delighted by the Wolverine and Public Enemies trailers. I spent half an hour tracking down the song in the Public Enemies trailer. And Gambit's eyes are red! Huzzah!

Grammary question here - if a woman marries but retains her maiden name, and she doesn't want to be a Ms, do you stick a Miss or Mrs before her name?

Re: Sponsored by "Mrs Granger"

From: [identity profile] havocs-roman.livejournal.com
I'm afraid I can only reply with a question of my own--what is the difference between Ms and Miss, or rather, is the difference so significant that someone would be OK with being a Miss, but actively NOT want to be a Ms?

I think I recall someone telling me that "Miss" is usually used for younger (unmarried) girls/children, and that Ms would be more appropriate for a older girl/professional woman/married woman who doesn't want to be a "Mrs", but this confuses me so.

LOL. I feel quite bad for KStewart and RPattinson--after all, before the media whirlpool surrounded it, Twilight was technically an indie movie. I think I recall KStewart mentioning at one point that she'd been drawn to the project because it was a low budget book adaptation, and she thought that Catherine Hardwicke did good stuff with low budgets.

I wonder if she's still castigating her pre-Twilight self.

I saw Watchmen last night. No spoilers:

The long anticipated movie version of Alan Moore's classic graphic novel is nothing less than a new reference work about how close and true to the source a movie can be. I dunno how people who haven't read the graphic novel will digest all this. but having read it almost two years ago, I remembered it rather well and hardly missed anything from the comic. A lot of love went into the making of this film: The costumes, the set ups, the casting, it all felt as if I was browsing through the pages again. The actors were well picked and gave great performances.
There is nudity, there is sex, there is violence on the Sin City level (with the difference that this here feels like the real world and is accordingly more shocking), it feels as if the studio didn't interfere at all, and I can't remember when I ever thought that about a movie. I absolutely loved the choice of music, the title sequence was one of the greatest of recent movie history. Sure, there isn't much action in the first half, the movie takes its time introducing the characters, their situations and relationships. But that's true to the book, too. That makes it a little slow at times, so everyone should realize this is for grown ups who like characters, not a random superhero action flick. Everyone who thought The Dark Knight was deep (well, I agree), check the depth of this and get lost in it. I can't think of one negative thing to say about the film. I felt like getting another ticket after the end credits were over. One of the best movies I seen in a while.

9 out of 10 glowing blue dicks.

re: (did this movie not already come and go?). No - it was released in the UK last year. It's one of those weird films where, depending on what continent you're on, you can see 6 months to a year before (or after) your friends.

It seems to have gotten solidly good reviews from the other side of the pond. Me? I'll go see anything with Cillian Murphy.

I kind of wonder what would happen if Kristen Stewart did drop out of the Twilight saga. Would any of the fans really care? Nobody comes to see Bella--not even the guys because, let's face it, Bella is not as attractive as everyone thinks she is--so as long as Robert Pattinson was there, would it matter to anybody if it was Kristen Stewart or that one chick from Gossip Girl whose already playing a charscter in a love/hate relationship with a hilariously brooding guy? (Chuck Bass, by the way, is totally how I actually pictured Edward in my head--and I'm not sure how just how entirely dirty I should feel for knowing that character's name in the first place)

Personally, I think that the way that they should have done Twilight would be to make it like Lady in the Lake and film it all from Bella's POV. That way all the Twilighters could pretend that they were Bella.

As for other news, I am totally on board for an Emma Thompson-scripted, danny Boyle-directed remake of My Fair Lady. Maybe it's because I was in the play during high school, but the original film version didn't work for me. Although I'm really, really not a fan of Keira Knightley, so I'd prefer they get...somebody else. Altough, I should probably just be glad somebody hasn't already said, "Hey, why don't we get Megan Fox?"

And oh God, a teen series version of Re-Animator. That's gonna turn out swell.
