Huzzah! My college roommate (Valkyrie) and her husband (Dr. Typo, for those of y'all who used to read the Daily Digest) had their baby today! Baby Typo is seven pounds or thereabouts and 21 inches long. Also, we all haunted Dr. Typo's Facebook this morning once word got out that they'd gone to the hospital--we sat there refreshing madly while he updated his status from his iPhone, and the Lovely Emily (my other college roommate) can't get Facebook at work, so I relayed all the news to her via email. Of course, he disappeared for long stretches of time, quite reasonably, as he needed to actually be with Valkyrie and not liveblog the whole thing. Ah, modernity.

(While we were waiting, Em and I discussed Breaking Dawn, which she had just read for the first time. Appropriate!)

Petty distress: my face is all red and dry and sensitive and itchy (like a sunburn, actually), and I'm not sure why, except that I used a Bare Minerals "Rev-Upper" moisturizer (um. Twice) that was more than a year old, and it might have made my face angry. (Something similar, but less dire, happened when I used a really old sample of Philosophy's Hope in a Jar.) All I know is, it's really unpleasant, and I'm to the point where I'm trying not to touch or wash or think about it at all, if possible. Just slathering on my regular moisturizer and a little apple cider vinegar/water solution (actually a pretty good natural cleanser).

Interestingly, my complexion's the clearest it's been in a long time. Except for, you know. The burning. I'm this close to raiding the pantry for oatmeal to slap on, quite honestly; the aloe plant on the deck should fear for its life. On the upside, I will never need blush again.

Speaking of The Hair, this may amuse you. I picked up a Japanese TV series recently. As far as I can tell, it originally aired around 2004, though the US didn't get it on DVD until last year.

The Japanese version of The Hair (http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v355/bruinhilda/rotating/suou08.jpg)

From BloodHound: the Vampire Gigolo. I swear, I did not make that up.

Does he have...fangs? *snicker*

He somewhat looks like the Japanese version of RPattz. Somewhat.

And I'm not sure whose hair is wilder, his or RPattz's.

Thanks for the link about how to donate to the Australian Red Cross! And just a heads up to people donating from the States - the site's currency is in Australian dollars (understandably) but it's easy to use a currency converter, like XE.com, to translate how much you want to donate.

From the New Moon casting article: "“I like any romance novel, and this one was kind of unique because of the forbidden love thing,” she said."

How many romance novels has this girl read? Honestly.

As stated above, it's First Nations. Although you can always count on the Vancouver Sun for shoddy reporting.

Forbidden love? Unique?

I'm not a romance novel connoiseur, but I did go through a phase where I flipped through looking for the smuttiest parts. And in that time I discovered that many romances were all about noble ladies kidnapped by pirates or bandits or scalawags or *gasp* Native Americans yet they fell in love with their captors despite knowing that their love could Never Be.

It would have crossover appeal for the Twilight-loving baby fetishists (those who dress up and act like babies for sexual gratification).

They could then make their own giant felted womb that they could burst out of.

Hurrah! Congrats to Valkyrie and Dr. Typo and the new, baby Val-Typo. :)

Re: your skin, you are probably right that it was just an old product making things bad. But I shall take this chance to recommend the Alba line of beauty products anyway, just in case. They used to be mail-order only but now you can get some of them at CVS. Once you figure out which ones are right for your skin they are FANtastic. I like the Alba Eye Gel and the Renew lotion (green tub).

Re: Comic Con in 90 Seconds: OMG! I missed freakin’ Deadpool (http://www.cinematical.com/photos/2009-new-york-comic-con/1342309/)??? WHUT. I would so have gotten a picture taken with him. Doh! (Although it does kinda make you appreciate how ripped the comic book characters are drawn when you see Real People in head-to-toe spandex. Heh.)

Speaking of Real Writers being there, they were giving away tons of free books – I only happened upon one, but I talked to one dude (a vendor) who had about 12 collected by mid-afternoon. Geez!

That’s so weird that in the other Dollen pic The Hair is so smooth. I got to the booth around probably 2:00 on Friday and The Hair was totally in panic mode. Perhaps it had had one too many fangirls touching it by then.

...You know, I continue to feel rather bad for RPattz when I see these news stories wherein he is engulfed by crazed fans. It just can’t be healthy!

Yes! I'd forgotten them, but I used to love their pineapple face wash. And I definitely need some kind of eye cream/gel--I'm not trying to get rid of anything (lines or wrinkles) so much as prevent damage.

I'm absolutely amazed by the generosity that's been shown - they've had $30.4 million donated in the past two days. It's never happened before.

;_; I thought you said there'd be a Morpheus doll and I didn't see one and now I am sad...

The thing that got me is the little kid shirts that say "stupid lamb." Why on earth would you give a kid a shirt that says "Stupid?!" That kid's gonna have enough torment from just existing, and now you give the other kids material?

(Well, you know, regarding Chick Flicks, does art imitate life or the other way around? It's hard to say. I don't like that sort of image, but I'm pretty much a reject of the sex anyway, so I don't have much clout, myself. Of course, maybe that's what's stopping us from rejecting them all together-Objectors either are or feel they are the exception to the rule, or maybe the rule really is the exception and we all wear it as armor? It's so hard to tell...)

As someone experiencing chemical burn of her own, I feel you. I put on some generic moisturizer and it seems to have helped.

On the subject of possible facial skin irritants, LUSH's Temptation seems to be responsible for my mock-beard today. Everywhere else is fine, but given that their Lip Squeak balm (containing similar ingredients, I think) screwed my lips up for a week, I should have known better.

And that P&P with zombies is something I can't miss. Maybe I'll take Dad along, if he can stand seeing his favorite book turned into that.

Ahahaha, I did that for a little while, but I didn't find to many things to write about in it either. x_x

I agree 110%.

"Elizabeth Bennet and Her Sisters about to Become Zombie Slayers."

Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. I don't think these two of my favorite things can be put together. Especially not with the whole Mr. Darcy teaching them ninja skillz. Although, if anyone could have ninja skillz it would be him.
