Did I mention that I just realized yesterday that the Golden Globes are this weekend? I mean, not that that's a huge problem, but I hadn't started strength-training mentally preparing myself for the liveblogging. (The goal, by the way, is to have something you can actually read a week later and have any clue what I was talking about.) They didn't even have the Globes last year, due to the writers' strike, so it'll be nice to have the Drinky Oscars back.

(Please bear in mind, also, that I'm still reformatting the PBWiki as we go, now that we're all having to upgrade to 2.0.)

For me, the Cardigans love goes to "Choke" and "Step on Me", but it's true that without "Lovefool" I might not have bought that CD (oh, man, I am so OLD), and it is still one of my go-to discs for Happy Times.

I had a horrifyingly violent physical reaction when I saw the trailer for Bride Wars. Because I value my life, I will be avoiding that movie like the plague. (Also, apparently Anne Hathaway is going to win a Golden Globe, according to their website?)

For "Rachel Getting Married," yeah. It's very likely she'll be nominated for an Oscar, and might even win it.

Women, You Don't Care About Superheroes

HAHAHAHA. Oh lordy. Don't you just love it when men tell women what's inside their own heads? With just a few words from this wisest of males, all of comics girlfandom is invalidated! Because we all played with dolls and not action figures when we were little, dontcha know.

...my Ninja Turtles and GI Joes needed giant monsters to attack, and figure skater Barbie was the only one up to the task (especially after the horrible puppy-related accident that left her unable to skate ever again for lack of feet).

Oh, I loved "Erase/Remind"! I believe it was in "Never Been Kissed" and I seem to recall it being the only thing I actually remember about that movie other than Drew Barrymore deciding to dress like a teenager and ending up looking like me in high school -- sadly dorky and sartorially trying too hard.

Also, "Bride Wars" is repugnant. The trailers are enough to make me cringe as if the sexism has reached through the scream and tried to grope me. Eww. No touchie.

Okay, I loved Cloverfield as much as the next giant monster fan, but I feel the need to school that punk.

Preferably by strapping him to a chair and forcing him to watch:

Gojira
Mothra vs. Godzilla
Gamera: Guardian of the Universe
Gamera 2: Advent of Legion

and
Gamera 3

There's just no excuse for that kind of ignorant statement.

It's funny how there are replies to that "Women Don't Like Superheroes" thing saying "It's not at all sexist! He's just pointing out trends and percentages," when he says, "So, back to the kitchen and make those comic-book reading boys some pie, ladies. You like girl things, and Wolverine isn't a girl thing at all. "

I like girl things.... like Hugh Jackman's ASS!
(oh, and the Phoenix. No, the REAL Phoenix)

In other words, "Women, stop passionately arguing about superheroes and comics! You don't like that! You like romantic comedies!"

Okay, so I'm not as big of a superhero comic reader as others are, and I'm really more of a dabbler, but why should this be a contest?

Unfortunately, no--because there are people who follow the journal without having LJ accounts, or through RSS feeds (which don't "see" filtered entries). I wish I had a way to help people who don't care about awards avoid those entries--I always LJ-cut them, though.

The thing that kills about Mr. Let Me Tell You What You SIlly Wimins Are Thinking is that he is apparently stuck in the 90s, poor dear. I mean, Julia Roberts, really?
