I had a couple of thoughts today while I was making breakfast after posting the True Blood recap:

1. Are sunlight-phobic vampires so angsty because they don't get enough vitamin D?

2. Could you kill a vampire with a full-spectrum lamp?

(Not sure when I'll post the second episode. Writing recaps needs to be contingent on my getting actual work done.)

There was an ep of "Blood Ties" that had a vamp getting fried from a heat lamp of some sort. It was the first time I'd seen anything with vampires explore the lamp option. ;)

I think I'm going to agree with the article and be not pleased with the idea of Ken Branagh being in charge of Thor. He's one of those weird actor/directors who has somehow maintained a good reputation in spite of a really crappy resume that is actually far stronger at its beginning than at its more recent end.

There is of course a way. But like HBO, it's not TV. (Though it is actually a phonetic mesh of "law" and "eagle.")

Discuss: Which Upcoming Marvel Film Has the Most Promise?

Wait, Edgar Wright is doing Ant-Man? ANT-MAN, THEN.

Although if they're asking, "Which Upcoming Marvel Film that is being done by another studio Has the Most Promise?" then of course I say, with great hope: WOLVERINE. And speaking of that, where the hell are my movie-version masked Deadpool pics? WHERE?? There'd better be some, or shit is going to go DOWN. Last week, Campus Police banned from campus Bert John Allen III, after police learned he was engaged in the unpermitted and illegal behavior of attempting to recruit female university students as concubines near the Library.

Concubines!!!! Full story's here... (http://wbztv.com/local/bert.allen.unh.2.827715.html)

The next entry in the steampunk canon will be “Watchmen,” the adaptation of the graphic novel set in a dark parallel universe heavy with clocks, gears, electric cars and airships, set to open March 2009.

Uh...n...o. Just because Watchmen has a recurring motif of a clock counting down does not mean that...

just...

you know what? Never mind. Everything vaguely science-fictional that is not specifically about the future is steampunk. Whatevs...oh, it's the MTV Movies Blog! That explains much.

So, haven't had the time to read the first True Blood recap yet, but I can tell you that you just gave me something to look forward to in this crazy rundown economy kinda world we got going on here...okay maybe I've been watching too much True Blood. Anyway, that + LJ cut of "I kissed a doll and I liked it" make me want to get moving on that shrine I always intended to build for you. It's in the shape of Alabama, you'd love it.

FYI: For the fourth ep recap of TB, all you really have to do is write "ERECTION! ERECTION! ERECTION! ERECTION! vampire. ERECTION! ERECTION! ERECTION!" So, that's an easy one. Or, a "hard" one rather. Yes, I went there. No, I have no shame.

For banned book weeks, my uni is doing this Vodcast series of students reading from banned books and then discussing them. I got roped into it by my roommate, who ended up not doing it. Blerg. I have yet to actually watch the video I did. The guy filming didn't tell me he was filming, so the footage is just me talking to him in a rambly, incoherent sort of way instead of a quasi-prepared speech I had practiced. Poo./random
