For those of you just joining us this afternoon: JKR WON THE LEXICON CASE.
As much linkspam as I could pull together given that I have130 146 158 unread Lexicon-related emails (and counting):
2008 MTV Video Music Awards Red Carpet Arrivals / Pre-Show pics; Russell Brand's VMA hosting gig: Career suicide or star-making turn?; Brand Forced To Apologise For Purity Ring Jokes at VMAs; John Legend Wants None Of What God Warrior Jordin Sparks Is Selling; VMAs: Top 10 Most Hideous Looks; Go Fug Yourself fugs the VMAs; The top 10 things you didn't see at MTV awards; VMAS in 2 minutes; The Hater: The VMAs: A Quarter Century Of Uselessness.
If you didn't see the show (my quick recap), ONTD has pics of various performances: Rihanna (my favorite for pure WTF factor); Christina Aguilera; Pink. (MTV has clips as well.)
And remember last night, when I said that somewhere all the Twihards are writing angry emails to MTV (no, I'm pretty sure they actually are) ? Yeah. I've known Swiss clocks that were less predictable than this fandom. Pro tip: Don't ask the crazy fans to watch the show and tape their reactions if the host is going to talk over their favorite actor. And then it hit Fandom Wank. ("CHAGRIN! DEEP MOTHER FUCKING CHAGRIN!") Twilight Tuesday is going to be SO MUCH FUN tomorrow.
And then the Harry Potter fandom flexed its biceps and said, "That's nice, kids, BUT RARRRRR RULING IN THE LEXICON CASE ALL SHALL LOVE ME AND DESPAIR."

Silent screen siren Anita Page dies at 98.
'Glory Road' coach dies at 78.

Tommy Lee Jones sues makers of 'No Country.'
Gary Coleman Runs Down Annoying Fan [Celebrity Justice]. "Coleman refused, Rushton would not back down, and it ended like it always ends when some fool steps to Gary fucking Coleman: with the perp flat on his ass."

Ramis Confirms 'Ghostbusters 3' Talk and Apatow Connection.
Darren Aronofsky Hints ‘Robocop’ Will Take Place In ‘Unrecognizable’ City.
'The Duchess' and Diana Comparisons are Raising Comments in the UK. Note: Georgiana Spencer Cavendish actually was an ancestor of Diana Spencer's; IIRC, she even had a cousin named Diana Spencer. The comparison is tacky, but not completely out of the blue.

Date: 2008-09-09 12:25 am (UTC)Casting Will as Bradley would be a cagey move by Marvel, especially if the movie is supposed to be set in WWII as rumored. It would give the movie some star power while letting them cast an unknown as Steve.

Date: 2008-09-09 01:57 am (UTC)Still, it's almost equal. Twilight fans physically assault RPattz (clearly his fault for being so damn dreamy)...and Potter fans make death threats.
Between rape and murder I think it's fairly even.
The whole VMA thing is dumb. RPattz made an "ooo, mysterious" comment that was clearly an addlib and Brand played to it..interrupting him in the process. He tried to say his line after, but someone must have cued Paramour off camera, because the singer started talking before they even cut to her.
Brand didn't suck THAT bad. I mean...he was a little overly talky but the fault of not letting Rob get his line in was MTV's. It's the producers that cut him off.
The were probably trying to keep him from saying anything too damaging....again.
Awww, Rob, my favorite book was New Moon too. Until Bella's crazy "Edward is yelling at me in my head" thing turned out to be her own crazed delusions....which just doesn't make any friggin' sense...unless she's schizophrenic.
...what's wrong with chest hair? Silly silly pubescent girls.
I love your linkdumps. It saves me from browsing and looking for news myself...I just don't have the attention span for all of that. ^^

Date: 2008-09-09 04:53 am (UTC)Re: Georgiana: she was a great-times-whatever aunt of Diana's, her brother George was Diana's direct ancestor. The other Diana was a painter, there's a published biography on her but I haven't read it yet. Just if that clarifies anything somewhat. I just hope this film comes with a trigger warning, though, after what I read in Keira's Tatler interview about it.

Date: 2008-09-09 12:48 pm (UTC)I was absolutely not joking. I mean, I thought it was hilarious, but I knew the moment it happened that someone out there was already putting a petition together or something.

Yeah... I wasn't too happy about that part, because the book did not indicate that anything like that ever happened. He was emotionally shut off, not... that. If you mean what I think you do.

They're just movies, people. Yeesh! The movies aren't even all that great. I mean, let's be honest here. They're no Lord of the Rings.
Ow, my brain hurts. I think I'm going to go lie down now and read a book. Sadly, I don't have
enough boozethe strength to face Fandom_Wank at the moment. With new Twilight Wank, Torchwood Wank and Lexicon Wank all popping up within the last 24 hours or so, it's just too much. I'm notdrunkstrong enough for this. Woe! *rummages for booze*no subject
Date: 2008-09-09 05:28 am (UTC)Brad Dourif returning as Chucky? Now *THAT'S* how you do a remake. The makers of the Robert Englund-less NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET remake could learn a thing or two.
Robert Pattison just gets more awesome every day. It's a shame that the TWILIGHT tinhats will inevitably lynch him *g*
James Marsden, yaaay!
