Of course! I don't make 'em all for me, that's for sure.

To be honest, I kind of think it's clear where the next Batman movie is going. I mean, Harvey Dent said it: "The night is darkest before the dawn, but I promise you, the dawn is coming."

Yeah, I can't imagine it would go any other way. To me, the more interesting question is, which villains would best suit that theme?

The icons remind me of something that probably amused only me during the movie: Batman has a velvet cape.

I first noticed the velvet during the interrogation scene. My first thought was, WTF velvet? Then I thought, oh, I bet they used that because black velvet absorbs more light, and that way, he could stand behind the Joker the whole time without the camera picking him up.

But then I noticed that it was velvet in *every* scene.

I NOTICED THAT TOO. Actually, I didn't notice it until I came home and saw saw some publicity stills on ONTD (http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/25908948.html) with poor Christian Bale in various emo poses. You know. With his black velvet cape. I'd actually figured it was still the "high tech fabric" from the first movie, you know, the memory fabric that could take the shape of wings, and that's probably what it was supposed to be. But in terms of him just walking around, yeah, they probably needed velvet to absorb the light. Or hang unobtrusively. Or look totally fabulous. Either way.

Honestly the more I think about the Batman movie the more impressed I am with Heath Ledger and the more depressed I am that he died. It took me a couple days to get to that point. And here I thought my stupid grieving process for him was over with.

I have to say (mild spoiler warning)...I don't know why, probably for the same reason that I adore rainy days, The Empire Strikes Back, and Batman at all for that matter, that I really love Batman's current position re:depressing and hope it never ends. Dammit! Batman can't be happy...happier! Where am I going to go for my hurt/comfort daydreams then?

I kind of expected that the XF movie was going to be awful when they released that clip of Mulder angsting over his sister (again) and Scully yelling at him for it (again) but from the sounds of it, it's gone past awful and into offensive. Does Chris Carter want to destroy the franchise or something?

X FILES MOVIE 2 is awful. Duchovny, Connolly and Callum Keith Rennie try their best, but there's no paranormal or supernatural incidents at *all* (it's like a CSI movie!) the killers turn out to be Gay Psychopaths and Gillian Anderson is so obviously not caring that it kills the movie. She might as well wear a t-shirt reading "I DO NOT WANT TO BE HERE"...

that guy is very annoyed with X-Files fans and I'm wondering why. Not that I'm biased or anything but he assumes that all of us are frothing at the mouth about negative (and sometimes misinformed) reviews based on selected comments.

Date: 2008-07-22 03:46 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Well, I think part of it may have come from the trollage on Rotten Tomatoes already this summer, because the Batman fans got BAAAAAD. Like, death threats to the six critics who dared review it badly. There's a subset of crazy fanboys who get rabid about whatever, and statistically a significant wedge of them are probably going to be into the X-Files.

Erm... I really was unaware that everybody thinks Pulse is bad. I actually think it's the scariest movie I've ever seen.

But then, Batman Forever is my favourite of the Burton series of Batmans. And I just found out that that's supposed to be terrible as well. I just love Carrey's Riddler so much! I really do think Keaton was a bit puny looking to be Batman.

2 days until the Dark Knight finally comes out... Still 2 days too long...
