Yesterday afternoon, Mom decided that she needed a new pair of black heels for work, so I decided that leaving the house was relevant to my interests and went with her. Here's what I posted to Twitter as we went:

I couldn't even get the left half of the store into the frame. It has an ESCALATOR, y'all. That's just the floor with the kids' books and the magazines. The lower floor is the one with the adult books.

I also passed Sparklepires 'R' Us shortly thereafter, but I was on the other side of the corridor with a kiosk between me and the store, and I already felt too much like a tourist, what with the picture-taking, as it was. And you know, I knew that the merchandise would be 82% Twilight-related, but I didn't expect to be able to see it FROM TWENTY FEET AWAY. There were three-foot dueling Edward and Jacob portraits up IN THE ENTRANCE. It was kind of amazing, actually.

My mother has a serious weakness for purses. Really big ones, too. So we went and browsed, as she could not resist the Rabbit's Tale's siren song.

This is a genuine photo I took with my iThing in the women's department (you can see the shoe department in the background). Yes, I actually WENT BACK to get this picture, it was so amazing. Apparently The Artist Formerly Known as the Dread Pirate Lestat shops at Belk's now.


Still working, by the way. I'm at the really tedious "clicking links to make sure I didn't put the wrong ones in" and final proof-reading stage. I'm just anal enough that I have to do this myself. I'm also hearing that if I want to preserve all the formatting, I'm going to need to use some Adobe Acrobat program, so I'm looking into that. I spent most of the weekend in a foul black funk wanting to punch people in the head (everything that could go wrong did, basically), and it's only 9:30 and already today is 200% better. Also, I LEFT THE HOUSE yesterday (obviously), which did a lot of good. Also-also, I bought chocolate (Cadbury) and booze (Woodchuck Amber), either for future head-punching emergencies or to celebrate when I finish. Probably both.

Woodchuck is my go to cider when I am at the supermarket. But! When I get by a specialty store that actually sells it, I very much love Ace Pear cider. OMG so good! It is very sweet, but thats how I like it.

I was browsing a Halloween store the other day and me and my husband discovered an Edward Cullen wig. Only it was not an official Twilight product, so it was called "midnight lover" or something like that. I snortled.

I love those booooots! Sadly, I am a chunky girl with large calves, so trendy boots never fit me. (To make it even worse, the bigger girl boots like at Torrid are way too big in the leg for me. Boo!)

Also, at my Barnes & Noble (where I work) we had an author signing on Saturday for Twilight And Philosophy. I mentioned to them that I follow you and they were all excited. I clicked the Dread Pirate Lestat link, and one of the commenters there has hit it right on the head: it looks exactly like something Jareth the Goblin King would wear. That's Brookwood Village isn't it? (Or did they change the name when they remodeled the mall a few years ago?) I live just down the street from there! It's my favorite mall. I got some great shoes at Macy's when they had a big sale last spring.

As someone who is also on medication, how can you drink booze if you take it? I've always heard that was "BAAAAD".

I too am on meds and if your medicine says "may intensify with alcohol consumption" then thats what it does. Makes you feel it faster.

In my case my meds say DO NOT take and drink. So the way I figure, its only in my system for 12 hours. I drink when its out of my system; I don't take it when alcohol is in my system (which makes me really restless but as soon as I sober up, I take it).

Not healthy probably, and I am not a doctor so I could be screwing myself up royally. But thats my two cents you didn't ask for.

It's hard to show in pictures. Hm. It has two floors,a huge music section addition, and a cafe view of the river and skyline. I love it. Natalie Portman visited once (who knows why?) and I got to sell her a book and I felt retarded because she was so cute and little and awww but all I could ask her is if she had a Barnes & Noble membership card :|
