I'm starting to think my constant snivellous snerf is allergies rather than some kind of cold, because it's a persistent, low-grade annoyance. Fnarr.

Meanwhile, the fan failure issue seemed to have been fixed by pulling clots of dust out of the back of the CPU; the system battery's still an issue, but I've talked to a few people, and apparently it's going to involve me going to Wal-Mart and buying a CMOS battery the size of a dime, no big hassle. So I'm working on the computer downstairs during the day to buy a little more time until I get out to do errands on Friday, and when I change out the battery, I'll vacuum can-of-air the inside of the CPU.

Also, activities on The Shelf are continuing, but I don't want to burn everyone out on that, so we'll hold off on updates for now. Although if you have icon requests, let me know, because I think I'm going to kill some time doing those tonight.

Made Of Fail - Episode 13: And That's When the Internet Exploded. Unless there's been a change of plans, I'm scheduled to go on their next podcast to discuss Watchmen (THREEPEAT GUEST, WOO!).

To prevent the overheating from happening again, periodically get a can of compressed air and use it to clean out the vents in your CPU. You can also use it to clean dust and so on out of your keyboard.

Seconded. PLEASE don't vacuum the inside of your case, unless you have a special static-free vacuum. You can kill your computer with a normal Dustbuster. It'd be better to get a can of air when you get your battery.

It gets an exclamation mark out of me. I'm just so glad it's gone! (I love the British version unendingly, I'm halfway through the first series, and I can't understand why anybody thought a remake was in any way necessary at all. Why can't everyone just watch the British version? It's perfectly fine the way it is!)

For anyone who is interested in it, Lemony Snicket's The Composer is Dead is all sorts of brilliant and most certainly not just for kids. I was lucky enough to see the show live in Kitchener, although I was slightly disappointed that Lemony Snicket was not tall and sinister à la Count Olaf but rather portly and smiley, it's definitely amusing for any fellow musicians/orchestra geeks out there.

I dug how @BrentSpiner handled the TNG/Abramstrek rumours.

Just to set the record straight, I'm not in the next ST movie in any way. At least, I don't think I am.

@onmejack Yes, it is possible I am in it, and gave the performance of my life, and still don't know it.
And then he went on to explain how he buys a shower curtain every time he's in a new musical.

i love how wil wheaton went on with it in his twitter (he's wilw):

Just to set the record straight: I play Data in JJ's new Star Trek movie. Apparently, @BrentSpiner was not available, or something.

SPOILER ALERT: A huge part of the reboot is that Data now has a beard. He also wears totally awesome boots that have little ducks on them.

I also insisted that Data carry a Tricorder that said BAD MOTHERFUCKER on it. There was some resistance, but it was futile, of course.

awesomeness

I for one am glad VF didn't do a full-on nude parody of the Tom Ford cover - the sight of Seth Rogen's and Jonah Hill's bare asses (not to mention huge hanging bellies) would have sent me screaming into the hills. Now if they had been excised and it had just featured the nekkid Paul Rudd and Jason Segel - well, now you're talkin'.

I wish J.J. Abrams would just get cracking on that Cloverfield sequel already. He's publicly stated that he came up with the idea for the film because he wanted America to have its own version of Godzilla.

Well, the second Godzilla movie came out six months after the original. You are slacking, Abrams!

You were supposed to give us a quickie sequel that's kinda cool, but still a huge step down from the original, but is the first to have your main monster fight another monster, and then have the series go into hiatus for 8 years. And then you'd bring the series back to raging life by pitting your monster against King Kong.

If you wanted to create the American equivalent of Godzilla, then you should have been prepared for those steps. And to make 28 films, occasionally rebooting the series' continuity every other decade.

Seriously, ABC cancels all the quirky shows. It's pisses me off. I don't think I can trust Fables with them anymore. Godamn it. Im afraid for Fables. I want Bill Willingham to move it to HBO.

Pushing Daisies, Eli Stone...and the fact they suddenly moved Ugly Betty to a a different month, or whatnot.

Bah :<
