Hot Topic - Twilight Edward Action Figure; The Next Object Of Your ‘Twilight’ Obsession: Edward Cullen Dolls. People! I have been talking about the NECA figure--Edward Dollen v1, thank you very much--since SEPTEMBER. Where has everyone BEEN? It's like no one's even paying attention to the fast-paced world of terrifying celebrity dolls!

Eowyn sidles up to me with a sly look on her face. "He's starting to grow on you, isn't he?"

Anna looks over from fencing with Elizabeth. "Yeah, like a fungus."

Yeah, he's kind of... kind of... well, look at him. He kinda gives me the wig, you know what I'm saying? And he is only seven inches tall, remember?

"Yes, but Elizabeth's four inches taller than Anna and they get along just fine." (Aw. She said "they," not "we." I'm kind of sad now.) "Lyra and Iorek too, even though he only comes up to her knee." (That reminds me--I still need to get the skyfoil for Iorek.) "And he's a lot less expensive. $16.99 plus shipping--you're probably looking at about $20 there, and that's two people going to a movie, right? Whereas Tonner Edward's going to be--what? $139.99 or something?"

You're a little too familiar with these numbers, Eowyn. I'm just saying.

"Look, I'm not the one trying to buy sparklepires in doll format. I'm just saying."

Arwen's looking at the pictures from over my other shoulder. "I wonder if she's concerned that a taller Edward might run off with Ellowyne or Elizabeth or something?"

"Keep him, I don't want him!" shouts Elizabeth over from the printer table practice field. Man, she's got good hearing.

Eowyn ignores them both studiously. "Look, all I'm trying to say is that if you're going to buy us an Edward, any Edward, you're gonna have to get on with it because you know these crazy women will snap them up--"

"And do terrible things to them."

"--or they're going to end up scalped on eBay if nothing else."

"That's horrible! And he has such nice hair!"

What? What does his--no, no! Like, "resold for outrageous prices"!

"That's not very nice either!"

"AS I WAS SAYING, if you're going to get one, and you're always whining about not having enough money anyway, you're really going to not have enough money when the only Edward you can get is from some asshat reseller. I mean, you remember paying out the nose for White Arwen as it was, and how long did it take you to track her down?"

SHHHH! NOT SO LOUD, OKAY?

"And you know you're going to get him," she says, leaning in closer. I'm a little weirded out because I've never seen Eowyn stage this kind of charm assault before. "One or the other or both. You know this. You have six of us and you never wrote about Lord of the Rings the way you've written about Twilight. And I haven't lived on your shelf for six years without learning a little bit about how sentimental you get about stuff. You want mementos of everything. Come on. You know you're going to get one. So you might as well get the cheap one."

Yeah... she's a little rusty with this "charm" thing.

"Please?"

OKAY, OKAY! YOU GOT ME. The red hot second I can dig up some money, and I have a couple of things I meant to put on eBay like an asshat reseller anyway, I will get you a damn cheap-ass Edward--look, what is it NOW?

"I want you to reconsider this Cloverfield thing."

NO!

Ok, if you're going to get that gods awful Twilight doll, you HAVE to get the Cloverfield moster to balance it out.

Edward Dollen would probably tame the Cloverfield monster and then ride him around the house, and perch atop his spindly body to watch you sleep at night.

Personally I don't think I could sleep with either of them in the house.

Also, you know what you need? The Golden Girls dolls. Seriously. It would be epic.

I saw an article yesterday or so where someone was proclaiming the wonders of Cheap!Non-Removable Coat!Edward and I thought "That's old news, Cleo talked about him forever ago!"

Also, the Cloverfield monster (which I realize you posted the other day too) is just plain creepy and doesn't make alot of biological sense. When it was all mysterious it was easier to believe it could wreak that much havoc on New York. Now I can't stop staring at its spindly legs and wondering how it supports its weight, not to mention how unlikely of a sea creature it is. I think I'm starting to like those early sketches of Armadillo!Clovey better.

Hee, yeah. The one thing I liked about Clovie as he appeared in the movie is that he was genuinely a unique movie monster.

Wow, totally agreeing with the Angel comparisons.
I'd much rather buy Edward, paint his clothes all black, retouch his hair, voila! Instant Angel doll.

I'd much rather have that doll.

But leave any tiny trucks out of his reach. He'll only take the engines out and then go back to watching the girls sleep :C

Ohhhh my. I died. Laughing. Of course, have you considered that if Edward Dollen gets out of control, Iorek could still totally pwn him. Even if it is mini-Iorek.

Pwn Edward much in the way you got owned by your dolls.::dies again::

Go here (http://cleoland.pbwiki.com/The+Secret+Life+of+Dolls#Fullentries) if you want to make sure you see them all--sometimes there are little bits in other non-doll entries that I linked as necessary.

You want mementos of everything :D I'm like that, too. My dolls would so sympathize with yours.

The 11.5" Edward Dollen doesn't look too bad, at least in that picture. Good outfit, family crest (who mad that detail up, anyway?), really broody face. I bet the girls could live with that!

And ZOMG I didn't even see Cloverfield, but that thing is terrifying.

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
The thing is, even if you'd seen the movie, you wouldn't have seen that monster--I mean, that's what it looked like, but all you ever saw was a glimpse here and there. People came out of previews trying to draw the monster and put it online, and no two pictures were the same, it was crazy. And, amazingly? This is probably one of the few movie monsters that is actually scarier when you see it out in the open (WTF IS THAT THING).

You like Twilight more than Lord of the Rings? I hope not. That makes me sad...I mean, I can see how Twilight is much more addicting than LOTR (I've read all four books + Midnight Sun and hate them with a deep=seated passion, but can't stop rereading), but LOTR is...I don't know, good. Great, even. Twilight is addictive and hilarious unintentionally, but not good. Never great.

Okay, okay, the little voice of reason in my head is telling me to stop being a judgmental moron and step off. Sorry, having a rough week. Much love to Eowyn, I think I have some issues in common with that girl. Though nowhere near as awesome hair.

You like Twilight more than Lord of the Rings?

Where in the world did you get that idea? (From "You never wrote about Lord of the Rings the way you've written about Twilight," I guess?) My relationship to Twilight is more like--the Daily Show's with George W. Bush, is probably the best analogy. I'm not writing about it because it's good.

(Also, I have a dozen Galadriel icons.)
