I crave sustenance

Hmm... today's Journal Birthmonth Flashback? Let's go with Tiny Moist Hand.

Tried to record a Halloween story reading; made one tiny stumble--but at a key line, unfortunately--so I can't put that take out. But I haven't been able to get the right voice back on any subsequent takes. I tried to warm up by desk-dancing singing, but somehow, that just didn't do it. I'll just have to keep trying, I guess.

Didn't have the most productive day ever, but soldiered away at the Prestige footnotes until finally I just said, "This is as done as it's gonna get right now, even though there are a couple that aren't ready, but screw it, I need to move on to something else." The POTO footnotes are going to be a lot of work to finish, I think (I've been skipping around the whole time), but at least it'll be something different.

(Trying BPAL's Dorian--which has been in my little storage chest for far too long--as a room scent. Not really sure it's working for me in that capacity. Need a bottle of High John the Conqueror, actually--my sample vial of that got me through the last three months of writing the 15M book, to be honest.)

Uuuuuuugh, Tiny Moist Hand. Just those three words will be enough to keep me up tonight. (Also, wow, I've been reading your LJ a long time. Way to stay consistently entertaining!)

[identity profile] redcoast.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Inspiration from The Fly is alright, I think. "Derivative" is just a derogatory way of saying they're building on previous popculture.

[identity profile] apocalypsos.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
That baby Renesmee Bella link is by far the most terrifying thing I've seen all day. GAH.

My best friend has a bad habit of calling stupid things gay. I've been weaning her out of it little by little by pointing out if they were gay we'd like them a hell of a lot better.

[identity profile] soccerharry.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 05:24 am (UTC)(link)
I am still in shock. I will probably still be in shock tomorrow when I wake up.

[identity profile] hilaryxo.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 10:48 pm (UTC)(link)
I would love for "Spring Awakening" to be adapted into a movie. There are so many challenges though - for one, it's not your regular musical, where people burst out into song. Most of the time, the cast is singing into handheld mics. It adds a little something special to the play, and I'll really miss that if they can't get around it. Also, I haven't had a chance to see the new cast but it would be hard to top the energy of the OBC. If they could just get everyone together, that would be awesome.

[identity profile] awanderingbard.livejournal.com 2008-10-09 04:30 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't seen the play, but from what I know of it, it seems like the songs are sort of a breaking free dreamworld thing, so maybe they could sort of set them outside the traditional setting in a concertish fashion. Not actually a concert of course, but more inside the characters' heads. Or something. This is why I don't direct movies. "You know, it could be like...stuff...and, you know?"

"FOX GETS OFF ON BEING WITHHOLDING. 'WOULD YOU LIKE ANOTHER SEASON OF FIREFLY? NO, WAIT, I'M WITHHOLDING IT. LOOK AT ME, GETTING OFF.' "

YAAAAAAAAAAAAY ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. God I miss Jessica Walter (but not enough to watch the new 90210).

Oh lord, John Gulager. So many memories of watching Project Greenlight and shaking my head, thinking "why are you being such a stubborn ass?"

The tiny moist hand story goes perfectly with the SNL Lawrence Welk sketch.

Well played.

And meanwhile the savvy Indiana Jones fans wait for the eventual Ultimate Box Set that will include all four movies plus bonus paraphernalia.

Because you know it's coming.

[identity profile] megalion.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
And it'll start all over again with the 5th movie.

I'll probably forgo the 4 movie box set seeing that I already have the first release which was the box set of 3.

I used to be a hardcore dvd collector but I'm over it now.

What pisses me off even more than calling something gay is the use of the word "rape" in every day life.

I tell off every person I meet who does it.

[identity profile] megalion.livejournal.com 2008-10-08 11:22 pm (UTC)(link)
I already came across it earlier today but...

I hated that Superman article because I clicked on it expecting to read about the movie dad (who apparently was already dead) and got SPOILED for smallville which I'm behind on by several seasons (somewhere in 3 or 4).

Mad was I.

as yes I call it a spoiler because tv canon is certainly rewriting a bit of the movie canon and I've no idea how the comic canon played it til this article

Ok so I gotta say this about Madagascar 2. It may not interest anyone here but - on the off chance anyone reading is a fan of the Finnish band HIM (http://www.heartagram.com), the lead singer of this band, Ville Valo, is doing the voice of the male hippo, Moto Moto in the Finnish dubbed version of this movie.

K - done with my random comment now. :)

blackphoenixalchemylab.com--essential oil blends. Most "commercial" perfumes give me headaches because of the chemicals, so this is one of the few brands I can wear. They're kind of gothy at times but also pretty fun. Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett have let them do blends for some of their books (for charity, the CBLDF), they have Shakespeare character blends, Lovecraft blends, pirate blends, holiday blends...

Here it is (http://community.livejournal.com/twilight_sucks/219315.html). I think "that's so gay" is one of the weaker insults in existence, so when a friend of mine called her essay gay, I said gay was not the most creative putdown, and if her essay were in fact gay, how it finds essays of the same gender to mingle with, I'd never know.

Also: Andy Samberg is pro (now if we could find him a decent movie, seeing as he seems to keen to be in one.)
