Re: The weirdly defiant POTO/15M theft: the full text of the You Accusatory Squirrel-Like Person rant got posted (well, it was always public), but now there's a very teal apology up. Bizarre.

(If the girl's reading this--look, it's not that a big deal. You thought it was written by someone else and you thought you had their permission. That wasn't correct; now you know, you took it down, and you apologized. Apology accepted. It's not a "heinous crime"; it's just something that needs to be taken down. Really, it's not the end of the world, and you don't have to take your toys and go home; it's only going to be as big a deal as you make it.)

(Or maybe this is what's going on. I don't know.)

(Wait, she paid someone else $47 for the "rights" to something I wrote? What?)

Meanwhile: Less jittery today, although I do feel very awake.

Something that occurred me while I was answering comments* on the previous entry--I had thought that increasing the Lamictal (an anti-seizure drug now used for depression and manic-depression) would stabilize the mood cycling, until it occurred to me mid-sentence that maybe that's exactly what it's doing. I'd thought "stabilize" would mean it would make the hypomanic episodes less noticeable, but maybe what it's done instead is make the cycle more regular. I mean, I was able to look back on my entry calendar here and point out a fairly consistent four-week cycle, with episodes of increased productivity near the end of the month. (I'm not sure how this maps to any other kind of cycle, and I don't really want to get into that at the moment. But yeah, I'm looking at that.) And since I usually try to "make hay while the sun shines" anyway--try to get work done when I feel good, and not beat myself too much over periods where I feel bad--having a fairly regular schedule would be pretty helpful. I don't know if it'll stay like this, but it'll be interesting to watch for the next few months and see if it does.

* Trying to answer comments and not being able to answer enough of them or keep up with all of them is another thing I tend to feel guilty about. *hangs head*

Meanwhile, [livejournal.com profile] padawansguide came through for us with some new, even better Alice in Wonderland pics. We don't think it's literally Violet Baudelaire's coat, but it's clearly a design that Atwood is reusing. Which is cool, because I love that coat.

(Here's more, assuming they stay up/unlocked. Maybe long enough for you to see Baby Bonham-Carter-Burton's rockin' red velvet cape this time.)

And if I didn't know better, I'd swear I went to college with the girl playing Alice. (S'up, Beth! "Rita Dove! I love her!")

but to be honest, what else would you expect from a friendless writer in theater who is the product of the nuclear bombout that was my parents' divorce?

I LOL'd. DRAMA LLAMA!!! Begging for sympathy!

Seriously, though - she should have just said, "my cousins lied to me and it was a big mistake and I'm sorry!" It's actually much stronger than all the teal deer.

At the same time - what, she couldn't have googled M15M or Cleolinda Jones after the first bad review? Story. It ringeth false. My guess is the cousins aren't even real, really. She stole and then was totally amazed when she found out how many people read your stuff. *rolls eyes*

I love how she's dramatically changing her name, now, too. Because of the incident's effect on her fun personality! As opposed to the "not wanting to be known as the person who plagiarized a well-known blogger."

I think she's still a bit unclear on the whole "This is the Internet, honey" thing. As in: OK, you're changing your "name" to distance yourself from this mess... but making a big deal about it only means that the Internet will always know who you were. Mission, not even remotely accomplished.

I believe Cleo's referring to the phrase "teal deer," from "tl;dr" or "too long; didn't read." So by being "very teal" the apology is way, way longer than anybody in their right mind or not trying to cover up with bogus lies would actually write.

RE: Lamictal -

I'm Manic-depressive/anxious and have ADHD - yeah what a combo. Anyway - my doctor just decided to increase my Lamictal dosage up further - stepping to 300 and then 400 over the next few months, and I'm already experiencing the same thing you are. Somewhat regular mood swings - not nearly as hardcore as they used to be years ago, or were becoming more recently. I think you may be right - we may be feeling a bit more like the 'normal' people do...or as 'normal' as possible?

My psych also liked that I added Yaz to the medication regime as my new birth control - as that helps with the hormonal mood swings too - maybe thats something that could help with the 'other' 4 week cycle.

Okay I'm done giving too much information but wanted to throw in my 2 cents. Good luck!

I find it rather funny that your plagerizer didn't seem to proof-read either of her posts - the "author's note" or the lengthy apology.

It's sad that her high school is failing her in her English classes. Not explaining plagerism, how to proof-read, nor how to use adverbs correctly.

A) I Forgot! The fact that she uses Hurricane Ike as part of the excuse only makes things worse, not better. As someone who stuck it out in Houston (we were basically told NOT to evacuate in my area), I think that is the absolute worst excuse for something EVAR.

2) RE: Lamictal, hormones & Bipolar II. I found, personally, that after a certain dose, I was just more up (jittery, insomnia, etc) than down. Which is okay, but not really what you want either. There is a point you can get to with meds where you end up as kind of one overall mood - tends to be just below happy all the time - which is hard to achieve, but doable if you're willing to potentially take more than the 2(?) you're on already. Also, I found that my moods fluctuated dramaticallyOMG with my "monthly lunar cycle" if you know what I mean. The four-periods-a-year cycle has done WONDERS for my mood stabilization. Knowing when you're gonna get really bitchy has its benefits.

Sorry to write a novel there.

I know I can get pretty humorless about the Plight of the Environment, but am I the only one who is extremely uncomfortable with bringing out a movie about a future in which an animal, currently massively endangered due to human actions, is the enemy of mankind and must be (presumably) eradicated? I mean, they may be futuristic killer polar bears, yeah, but basically that movie's about slaughtering an endangered species, right?

I know, just a movie, but some part of me believes in responsible pop-media-making, and I just do not see how someone could think this was a good movie to make right now. Not to mention the title is clearly a fifteen-year-old Goth girl's screen name.

On that note (the polar bear note, not the Goth girl note): environmental ad (http://splendad.com/ads/show/2310-National-Grid-Polar-Bear) for kids, featuring polar bear cuteness.

I'm glad the plagiarism situation was resolved, and I do kind've wish that it could be done with less drama.

However, I don't think it was necessary for everyone to leave such harsh comments on her apology. She's 14, guys.

Don't get me wrong, Cleo, I don't think what she did was right by any means, and she did deserve a little slap on the wrist. And I do think it's great that everyone is so ready to have everyone's back.

I'm just not sure that calling her out on charges of drama will necessarily help anything, here.
