Tintin is underrated. I will be a happy person if all comes to pass...

And to [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, Twilight should come with a warning about brain damage. The other half informed me today that he stumbled across several communities devoted to the subject, including fanfiction. When I pressed for details, he got a glazed look in his eyes and just kept repeating it was painful.

I look forward to the Dragonball movie consisting of 80 minutes of guys with spiky anime hair grunting and threatening each other, followed by 1 minute of bright lights and then 5 minutes of lots of dust clouds obscuring everything while a voiceover guy says that this totally amazing fight will continue in the next movie.

Not that I had to see to episode after episode of that crap while babysitting or anything.

This has nothing to do with anything you've linked today, but I've been wanting to ask you just the same: I know you have linked the Tonner dolls in the past, but have you come across any movie merchandising site that makes working replicas of the PoTC Calypso/Davy Jones music box?

Heck, it doesn't even have to have the box, if you know of a site that makes the mechanisms and a handcrank, I'd be happy.

Thank you!

It's not there, but keep an eye on that page--they tend to have fairly decent collectibles. I'll see what I can find--I don't know anything about music box mechanics, unfortunately.

(Funny you should mention the Tonner dolls, because I just found out they're going to make a Tia Dalma.)

I don't tend to comment on the LJ's I shamelessly stalk, however...

As a hapless Starbucks' employee I'd just like to say, "son of a bitch." That is just one more machine we have to clean, stock, learn how to use, etc. You know each store is going to have one jackass who demands their coffee be made from the Clover. And you know that jackass is going to be pissed each time it takes more than 30 seconds to get his extra-special, extra-expensive cup o'joe at 6:00am because we have to drag that machine out of the back room, set it up, and figure out which button turns the damn thing on. And this says nothing about actually having the extra-special coffee in stock when the one jackass comes a calling.

Just thought I'd get that out.

I seem to be one of the few people on this planet who actually liked the original CHILDREN OF THE CORN. How can you not love Linda Hamilton crucified on a corn-cross whilst Peter Horton plays whack-a-mole with a satanic gopher-monster and Courtney Gaines runs around a deserted town yelling "Outlander! We have your woman!"- it even has a few moments that are less camp and more unsettling. Corn is creepy...

Plus the second sequel, CHILDREN OF THE CORN III: URBAN HARVEST has an early appearance by Buffy's Nicholas Brendon, whilst the third sequel, CHILDREN OF THE CORN IV: THE GATHERING has Naomi Watts and actually manages to be genuinely terrifying

So much amazing WTF-ery in this linkspam. Like

JIM CARREY AND EWAN MCGREGOR KISSING? I'm scared because it turned me on a little.

And an Alice in Wonderland adaptation set in Sunderland? SUNDERLAND? Oh dear. Oh dear, dear.

And the headline: "Robot Slaughter Is Disney's Desperate Bid For Male Eyeballs" reads as though Walt Disney's cryogenically frozen body has been encased in a mechanised suit and has gone on the rampage for organs so that he can be fully revived. At least, that's the image in my head.
