You guys, I think it has finally sunk in that tonight, at midnight, the faithful are finally going to get hold of actual copies of Breaking Dawn, and judging from the spoiler reactions I've heard, tomorrow, we will hear their lamentations throughout the land. Seriously, it feels like Christmas Eve right now. But then, I'm a terrible person, and I enjoy fandom insanity of any stripe. So here we are, the last linkspam before I get down to work:

Twilight spam:

Not Ready For E-Time: Meyers Ebook Release Delayed ("First off, are ebook sales so significant that military-grade maneuvers are required to manage the ebook release? Is the world really going to come to an end just because a few people in other time zones get a major release first (and maybe, just maybe, this apparent privilege would stimulate some different thinking on ebooks)? Rhetorical, yes. Heaven forbid that people buy and read books before the appointed time "). Meanwhile, half the internet's read bootleg scans of the first two thirds. Good going there, you guys.

Should the Fourth 'Twilight' Book Be Two Films? Somewhere, Philip Pullman is going to laugh his ass off if the first one tanks and they don't make any others.

You too can own Bella's engagement ring or charm bracelet!

A contribution from [livejournal.com profile] dduane: Forks, Port Angeles eateries set the table with "Twilight"-inspired food. Short version: Bella Italia now does serve mushroom ravioli, and some random place serves a... pineapple Bella Burger? I've read the books and even I don't know what that's supposed to do with anything.

(Have I ever told you the story about why I can't eat mushrooms? I mean, I can, if they're integrated into the food item--say, in small bits on pizza--but generally I try to avoid them. See, when I was about three years old, my mother always put them in her homemade spaghetti sauce. The bland canned kind of mushrooms, you know, kind of a pale beige color, sliced. And I looked down at my spaghetti one day and thought, You know... that kind of looks like someone cut off an ear. Yes, I was three years old. And I have not been able to eat mushrooms since.)

And the author (and I use the term very lightly) herself pretty much spoiled the damn thing herself in an interview with EW. :p

Trust me, the spoiler she gave out is the least of them.

If the only good thing that comes out of this is that they stop MAKING MOVIES OUT OF FUCKING BOOKS ALL THE GODDAMN TIME, then I will consider it just.

It worked with Lord of the Rings because it was fucking Tolkien. It worked with Harry Potter because it was Harry fucking Potter. If it didn't work with CS Lewis, it is time to HANG IT UP, Y'ALL

I know, it is like Christmas eve, isn't it? It's going to be the WTF heard round the world. I've already left a glitter trail through my house that's going to be here for weeks, so it's like Christmas in that respect too.

YAY for news about Dorian Gray. I've been dying to know who else got cast. I don't know of Colin matches my mental image of Harry, but he'll obviously do a good job. In all honesty, the rest of the cast could be played by chimpanzees with rifles and I probably wouldn't notice anything other than Ben Barnes. Not that I don't genuinely want to see the movie for the story, but, goddamn.

I think I am more gleeful about Breaking Dawn that I was for Deathly Hallows. And I don't even LIKE the Twilight series.

I think that's why I'm more gleeful. With Harry Potter I had a stake in the outcome. With Twilight it's just pure delicious schadenfreude.

I'm going to the midnight release party just to watch. Then I figure I'll buy a copy at Wal-Mart tomorrow or something.

Finally, my illness has a name: Truman Show Delusion.

What's the name for constantly fantasizing you're either being interviewed about your latest imaginary movie on various talk shows or being a famous actress sitting around the set between takes, engaging in witty banter with your hot costars?

Because this friend of mine? REALLY does that a lot.

What?

*cough* *shifty eyes*

I fear for my friends who are working midnight releases of BD. I'll get my hands on a copy tomorrow though. I've sucessfully avoided spoilers, no thanks to some "friends" who go BLAH BLAH BLAH TWILIGHT SPOILERS.

Also, I just really wanted to use this icon.

Re: Equus post on ontd - everyone bloody chill. He's naked for a few minutes at the end, and it's not a sex scene. It's a seriously emotional and tragic scene.

I saw it in London and I bawled my eyes out. It's a brilliant play.

Rumor: Pixar is Pursuing 'Monsters, Inc.' Sequel?!

Oh, please no. Pixar has been snuggling under the failblanket for a while as it is*, and a case of sequelitis is not going to help. Especially considering the huge amount of time that passes between their movies; a Pixar release is as rare and anticipated as the last few Harry Potter books were, and a sequel is a slot 'wasted' on something that's not even new. Add to this the fact that I can't even watch Monsters, Inc. anymore because the concept bothers me so much, and it becomes a big steaming pile of DO NOT WANT.

*No, I haven't seen WALL-E yet; when I do so my opinion may change, but that doesn't make Ratatouille suck any less and I still refuse to see Cars.

I'm reading Twilight right now and I am torn. I hate Bella it SO much, and yet I can't seem to stop reading. It's like I'm possessed by something EVIL.

Picturing Robert Pattinson the whole entire time helps, honestly.

I would like to file The Lion King 2 and The Rescuers Down Under as evidence for "doing it right once or twice doesn't mean you can keep doing it right."

I'd be less bothered if they weren't adding, "Oh, and also there's gonna be a Cars 2 and a Toy Story 3." Even if I'll admit in front of witnesses that I'll be the first in line if there's an Incredibles sequel.

That I can squee equally over both probably shows that my mental age is a little out-of-whack.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who didn't like some of their films! Everyone seems to have loved Finding Nemo, which I found utterly forgettable, to say nothing of Cars or Ratatouille. I loved the Toy Story flicks and The Incredibles, though. As for Wall-E, it was definitely worth seeing, but I don't know that I'll buy it and watch it over and over like the other three.

She was confused.
