He seems like a really nice guy, the kind you'd have a funny chat in the pub with and I wish him all the best with this...stuff. I sort of just want to write him an apology letter or something and I have nothing to do with it. Just seeing him treated like a piece of meat is terribly disconcerting.

BTW, you read the books, and I only read your "review" of them, so I'm curious: what age do you think these books are aimed at? Do you think they'd be appropriate for fourth or fifth graders? Because the librarian at the school I'm teaching at for the summer has book posters and posters of the movie cast hanging up. It didn't strike me as a book for 9 to 11 year olds...

I'm a middle school librarian who has read the first book. It's in the restricted, 8th grade only section, but I actually broke the rules and checked it out to a couple of my sixth graders who were big readers. I honestly don't think Twilight is all that naughty. Can't speak for the rest of the books, so someone else will have to chime in.

Reading the tales of fans gone amok and celebs who regulate and then go back to being gracious and sweet makes me realize I will never be a good famous person. Because if this shit happens, I will probably stop on a dime, throw a bitch fit, and stomp out. I can't mentally/emotionally shift gears fast enough to be A True Professional and make everyone just love me for how generous I am after something like that. Heh, I do--I went and found it the day the trailer came out. It's one of like a dozens remixes of Smashing Pumpkins' "The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning," (http://www.sendspace.com/file/9b833q) which was written, weirdly enough, for Batman and Robin. It's exactly the right version, too, they didn't mess with it or anything--just edited it down to fit the trailer's run time.
