I refuse to predict anything RDJ is going to do will suck until I have actually seen it. He could announce he's going to play all the characters in a one-man off-Broadway revival of Annie, and I still wouldn't pass judgement until I'd seen it.

Why are they insisting on messing up the HP series so much in the movies? If they have no Fleur in HBP, and no Bill, what are they going to do for the plot points they figure into in Deathly Hallows?

I honestly love the inside shots; especially the one in the rain. When you forget about the characters that they're supposed to be, it's really a beautiful shot.

Yeah, the rain really is nice. It helps that the b/w means they can't try to do anything weird with vampire makeup on him, and the rain means they can't powder him or do anything bizarre with his hair. So really, it just has a nice, natural look to it.

Yeah, I did see that--I wasn't sure if I should post it or not. It's horrifying in retrospect--the family went through all that, and only now have they cleared them. And over the years I've read extremely impassioned theories from crime experts on both sides of the did they/didn't they fence... but only one side was right.

For all that RTD looks nothing like Holmes (aside from being dark-haired) I think he could knock it out of the park in the role. Quirky, driven genius he can do, and he's a big enough nerd that he'll make sure the character stays Holmes despite whatever craziness Ritchie throws in there. Frankly, that he's not Jason Statham is a big enough relief to me.

As for The Abomination...really, I can handle Sascha Baron Cohen playing Holmes. It's Will Ferrell that's giving me conniptions. He's going to play Watson as a buffoon because all he plays are buffoons, and I hate hate hate that. Hate it.

Re Twilight: that is some seriously tragic hair. Do Twilight vampires not have reflections? Edward looks like he styles his hair in a wind tunnel.

God, between the EW insides (WTH, EW. Just, WTH) and the HBP news (Anyone care to go in on a hit of Steven Kloves with me?) I think I might need to start a drinking game. Take a shot everytime someone posted completely unrelated publicity stills for Twilight, and take two everytime a spoiler for a Harry Potter film reveals they're adapting fuckall from the books.

Steve Kloves did adapted one of my favorite book to movie adaptations though, so I can't hate him too hard. Wonder Boys - book and movie - are made of complete and utter win. It's funny though - all the changes/leaving out stuff in Wonder Boys makes sense. And he didn't commit as much character murder as he does with the Potters. Can't figure out why they suck so incredibly hard. Except for the fact that they started making the films while SHE WAS STILL WRITING THE FREAKING BOOKS.

Here's what a loser I am: I keep thinking of the scene in the first book where Bella passes out after they take blood samples in class, and Edward's all like, "I've seen corpses with better color [har har har]! I thought Mike Newton was dragging you out back to bury you in the woods!"

(Or maybe this is his fantasy of disposing of her body after flipping out and killing her that first day? The black and white, so moody!)

I got this vid via Very Short List, and when I watched it earlier this week... Well, words can't describe how purely happy I was, watching it. I recommend watching the high quality version because it's beautiful, and also any of his other videos, particularly the first dancing video (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bNF_P281Uu4), the lecture (http://youtube.com/watch?v=Z92o20KYH5g) (3 parts, about 1 hour total), and the outtakes. Basically, "watch everything on his channel" is my advice.
