Mmm, cinnamon toast.

Not having that great a day otherwise--trying to work, but the Death Crud is still lingering and I feel all ropy and logy and sludgy and dried out. But by God, I've sat here in front of an open Word document all morning and all afternoon. Also, it's (checks weather.yahoo.com) 57 degrees right now (oh, that's a LIE. It's 70 degrees in this house if it's five. Hmm. Maybe this is because Sister Girl has the heat on again. GAH), and we all know that these are conditions under which I cannot art.

A pair of scrunchy brown ankle boots that I ordered on a deep-discount after-Christmas sale arrived today, though. I got a brown purse for Christmas and realized that, for some reason, all of my shoes are black (or sneakers). Thus, something in brown. They're a bitch to get on, but plenty comfortable on and easy to get off. Eeeee, scrunchy boots.

I hope no one reading this has narcolepsy, because I have bad news for you. Seriously, if you do, read this, because Teresa Nielsen Hayden didn't find out that Public Citizen had successfully campaigned to have Cylert/pemoline discontinued until she went to refill her prescription: "Xopher and I and god knows how many other people with narcolepsy, ADHD, and other tricksy neurochemical impairments are looking at THE END OF OUR FUNCTIONAL WORKING LIVES." And if you do use Cylert/pemoline, you may want to take the Narcolepsy Network's advice to write letters of complaint regarding the ban.

(God, I wish I had the power to disemvowel comments sometimes.)

Meanwhile, I have developed a sudden lip gloss obsession that has caused me to sit on my wallet hands to prevent myself from buying hundreds of them (woe unto sephora.com!). Particularly since I got a ton for Christmas anyway, and between Burt's Bees and Tutti Dolci, I should be set. (I think those two are actually on sale right now, as a matter of fact.) I really want some Mabel's Laundromat balms, but I think I'm going to dangle those out as a reward for finished work. I said I wanted to finish things, right?

So in 4 or 5 years time, when you are used to it, you can look back and see how you felt at the start. :)

That is one of the disadvantages of celebrity, the more popular you become, the less time you can spend with each of them, as it were. It is nice to get a long reply, :) so I can see why they would be upset when you cannot. It is a pity that some people don't realize that you can't give as much attention as before. Sometimes I consider whether to make comments that don't need a reply, or try not to comment if I will be just repeating what too many other people have said, especially if you have a lot of comments to read.

There will probably be people around who dislike those who are successful, not sure if you can learn to ignore them. Was sorry that you had to disable anonymous posting because of trolling. If it is something you love doing, then you don't need to change it. Your close friends will probably make sure you don't get a big head, but you seem fine to me. I doubt that you need worry about sounding like Anne Rice to a detractor. :)

Well, I still read every comment (except the Lost discussion entries; I actually don't read any of those, because they're 600 comments and if I have any hope of writing a recap, I don't want to step on other people's jokes).

I know that the Lovely Emily is trying to drag me away from the computer as much as possible. The weird thing--and the problem--is that when you start getting paid to do stuff, everything looks like it has professional potential. Like, I know she's going to say that we should have some kind of Oscar-watching party, and that will be fun and awesome. But if I'm at a party, I can't relentlessly blog the whole thing in real time, which nearly kills me but at the same time, is something people are actually paid to do at E!Online and MSN. So you wonder if you do it this year, if someone will see it (the way someone saw the movie parodies) and say, "You should do this for us next year." You know? When having fun becomes a job, you start to worry about whether you should do things on or off the clock. ; )

Would this be an actual away from home the computer just watching the Oscars party, with lots of other people? I was under the impression that you didn't go to many parties like that, or I might be mistaking it for the times you grab some food and retreat to your room to avoid people. :)

I guess you have to decide whether it is worth it, especially if it nearly kills you, because if you did get paid to blog, then that would add some pressure to it. (That probably sounds too negative.) But you are capable of it, as you have done it with m15m, you can multitask and mix business with pleasure.
As long as it's fun, then getting paid for it is a bonus. ;)

See, I don't like large parties with large numbers of people I might not know. But, like, small parties full of close friends? Fun, and not a problem. This would be, like, four or five people max, I imagine, and closer to two or three.

And see, I did it last year, and it was exhausting but fun. So I know I *can* do it. But it's very unlikely, if I'm honest with myself, that anything would come of it. But then, I would have said that about the Van Helsing parody, too. So you never know.
