Update: Batch 2 is here.

All right, a more cheerful entry.

After talking to a few people, I made several more "Heroine Addict" icons. My strength in making graphics, as most of you have probably figured out, is simplicity. (Ha.) I'd like to think of it as a feminist (see: "Yes, You Are") sort of meme. Pass 'em on, make your own, make them better, add more, bring 'em here and show me. Take heroines from graphic novels, anime, cartoons, theater, movies, comics, I don't care. But if you make them, I'd love to see them, so come back and comment.

Oh, and leave more requests/suggestions if you have any.

Requests, arranged somewhat randomly:

Lord of the Rings

L-R, Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean (2), In America

X-Men

L-R: League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (comic), Monsters Inc., Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (still looking for a decent Michelle Yeoh picture), Whale Rider

L-R: Star Wars prequels (2), Mists of Avalon, Run Lola Run

Special bonus: Heroines from movies that haven't even come out yet!
L-R: Episode III, Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow, King Arthur, Phantom of the Opera

Is there a cache of Ep III pics somewhere?

Actually, I think that's the one and only picture I have of Natalie Portman in costume. There are a few set pics floating around... here's a few places you can always check now and again:

http://lightsout.movieweb.com/movies/gallery.php?film=7&id=173 (a few behind the scenes)
http://www.countingdown.com/movies/1371/multimedia (toys, a couple blurry pictures)
http://www.padawansguide.com/padme3.shtml (focuses on the costumes...ooo, hey, I don't have that picture...)

My primary interest in the Star Wars movies is 1) Natalie Portman's costumes with a secondary interest in 2) the hotness of Ewan McGregor... ;)

Gawd, I hope they don't fuck that movie up like they did the other two. I mean, what's a better story than a couple, in which the man is slowly becoming evil, and his own twins are later going to vanquish him? I mean I explained that badly, but, you know?

Well, I think that's why I'm going in with no expectations except for costumes and Ewan. Darth Lucas will probably find a way to have a fifteen-minute chase of some pointlessness, Anakin's whining will increase exponentially from the first two movies, and I even hear that the one character I really liked from the second dies pretty early on. Bastages.

Oh yeah, who?

Now I'm sucked into "Padme theory" threads on TheForce.net *cries*

Come on, man, you have to love Christopher Lee. He's like, the Hot That's Older Than God. This'll be like, two movies in a row he's gotten the shaft. Padme better have some good costumes or I'm walking out after that, man.

Padme Theory? What? Where?

Well, I'm only in the September part of this thread so I am not caught up, but it's regarding If/When/How she dies. Everyone and their Darth Brother are arguing about it.

Ooo! I can tell you the most recent thing I heard about it... *looks around shiftily for anyone else reading*

Okay. Some of this I clearly remember hearing (as fact or rumor) and some of it is me filling in the blanks. I think Padme has the twins. I know that Chewbacca helps deliver. No, for real. I'm not sure if Obi-Wan is with them at the time, but he's the one I know who takes the kids and hides them. The Jimmy Smits character from the previous movie, as I'm sure you know, is Bail Organa, Leia's foster father or whatever. And Luke of course goes to Beru and what's his name, Anakin's stepbrother.

So my leap of logic is that, if Padme's already had the kids, and Anakin doesn't know where they are, that must be why he kills her. I know that he doesn't mean to kill her. He force chokes her, I guess trying to get her to tell (which is a dumb way to coerce information out of someone, really. "Where are they?" "Mmmgpghah!"), and it goes too far, and she dies. That's what I heard.

Keisha Castle-Hughes plays the new queen of Naboo (dude, they go through queens like Kleenex). The outfit in the picture (http://sirstevesguide.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=7364), people think, is what she wears to Padme's funeral (hence the makeup tears).

That's all I know about that. There's a lot of stuff floating around about the Obi-Wan/Anakin duel and some Palpatine involvement, but I don't know enough to really fit it into a timeline in terms of the movie. Oh, and keep an eye on anyone playing a handmaiden. Previous handmaidens included Keira Knightley and Rose Byrne, who both went on to do big-budget Orlando Bloom movies, and Sofia Coppola. I want this job, man. ;)

Yes, I've read a lot of that stuff at TFN. People aren't sure whether she fakes her own death/funeral and escapes, is killed by Palpatine in the manner in which he later tries to kill Luke before Anakin's eyes, is accidentally killed by Obi-Wan, dies in childbirth, dies in a fight, or what. I mean, every answer they could come up with, they did. Some were arguing she didn't have to die in Ep 3, some were arguing that she had to rather than just fading away, because it wouldn't go with her personally or Lucas' way of storytelling if she just ...faded. People also thought it would be too much if Anakin killed her on purpose. Some were saying that maybe he injured her, then Palpatine killed her and told Anakin that she died of the injuries Anakin gave her.

There was a lot of discussion of Leia's saying in ROTJ that she remembered her REAL mother and the verbiage of that conversation with Luke. People were saying that it was possible that she saw holoimages of her, OR Leia used the force to "remember" her even though she was very tiny at the time. OR she saw pictures of her foster mother or a handmaiden. I dunno, there were all kinds of spoilers and their accompanying denials/arguments. We'll have to wait a year to see what really happens!

Yeah, I saw that yesterday about Keira and Keisha. That's a cool pic, I hadn't seen that.

Ok...don't read past this point if you DON'T want to know the TRUE truth on how she dies. (I've read a novelization, that's how I know)

________________

Anakin gets pissed because he thinks she's betrayed him. He force chokes her and throws her against a wall. She blacks out. After Obi-Wan messes Anakin up, he takes her to a medical center. She just loses the will to live and dies while the droids are delivering her babies.
