Let's get stuff that takes up lots of room out of the way

It's a Pity Party and You're Invited!

STOP BEING DEPRESSED, STOP IT STOP IT STOP IT. YOU'RE DOING IT TO YOURSELF THIS TIME. YOU DO IT TO YOURSELF EVERY YEAR THIS TIME OF YEAR.

Speaking of Never Getting Married

From [livejournal.com profile] audheim: The Anti-Wedding.

How You Know Sister Girl Is an Adult Now:

"I'd really like a mixer for Christmas."

More Tales of Cleo the Quick Study:

"Which color mixer do you like the best? I kind of like the cornflower, the ice blue, the reef blue--"

"Ice blue."

"--the grape, and the--"

"Ice blue."

"--surf green."

"Ice blue. I would get ice blue."

"Really?"

"It's light, it's the most neutral of the colors you liked, and it'll help the kitchen feel more open than if you pick a dark or deep color."

"Hmm. Maybe I will, then, maybe I'll go with--"

"ICE BLUE."

HEY IT'S A MEME

On the twelfth day of Christmas, cleolinda sent to me...
Twelve dolls drumming
Eleven blogs piping
Ten biographies a-leaping
Nine linguistics dancing
Eight werewolves a-milking
Seven books a-writing
Six movies a-publishing
Five fa-a-a-airy tales
Four virtual pets
Three movie scores
Two short stories
...and a cloverfield in a sleeping beauty.
Get your own Twelve Days:

By the way, I finally broke down and fulfilled my destiny on this earth:

Let us merge our Pity Parties!

...Or we could cancel them both!

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Can we still have it, but replace the pity with booze?

Ohhhh lord... I've wanted that mixer for YEARS. It's like... the Cadillac of all mixers.

So beautiful...

[identity profile] mustang-bex1126.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, the artisan...

I totally understand Sistergirl's desire; my husband bought me one of the 6 quart stand bowl-lifting bad-ass ones, thankfully it was like, $200 off or something crazy (not used/returned either, just a CRAZY sale at like Macy's) and since then I've acquired all sorts of amazing toys for it! I easily use it 3 times a week, as odd as that sounds.

*cracks up* "Then Edward coughed up a hairball on Bella."

[identity profile] greyduck.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:43 pm (UTC)(link)
*guffaws* Great, now I have to explain to my coworkers why the hell I was just laughing my ass off...!

[identity profile] cill-ros.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I know a lot of people who went through trauma on turning thirty. I did earlier this year and I wasn't even that bothered about it, or so I thought. Is thirty the new forty?

*strokes stalker kitty*

[identity profile] wolfsilveroak.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I have a Kitchenaid mixer.

I've always wanted one, so my MiL got me one. I've had it 4 years now.

I've used it 3 times.

*headdesk*

[identity profile] goonie-freak.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Same here...

I'm pretty sure when you don't have a mixer, you think of all the things you would mix... once you have a mixer... you find you don't mix as much as you thought you would...

1) I have that mixer in pink, and you're right, lighter colors = cheery and nice, darker colors...I. I can't even fathom how scary they'd look after a while.

2) BUT IT'S THE MOST WONDERFUL GODDAMN TIME OF THE YEAR, DIDN'T YOU GET THE MEMO? [freaks out with you]

3) Of all of the Twilight-related images I have laughed at in the last month, this one is in the top 10, easily.

My daughter's black one looks rather menacing sitting up on the counter. But I have a purple one and it brings me joy just sitting there.

I also did the new year's resolution meme, and one of them is

Be nicer to (ljuser tag icon) cleolinda.

So, in order to get ahead of the curve,I'll start now

have a wondeful day!

(among my other resolutions was 'be a better dracula')

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Awww! Hee.

(Is it on your LJ? I don't think I've seen that meme.)

The anti-wedding thing is a thing of beauty. If I had my way, my "wedding" would involve my guests and relatives volunteering at a soup kitchen or women's shelter.

My cure for depression is a strong gin and tonic, and a good hard shag : )

Also, come to the UK and I will introduce you to lots of Scottish boys you shouldn't dream of marrying, and you can use and abuse them at will..assuming you're straight, and if not, then I know a few lesbians who you shouldn't marry either but will get you splendidly drunk at the Candy Bar!

Thirty really isn't that bad. I turned 31 this year, and found that slightly more depressing. But hey, whatever. Fine wine and alla that.

That cat's eyes match Edward's, ooohh.

[identity profile] emoui.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 07:49 am (UTC)(link)
I was the same way - 30 was easy, peasy, 31 - ACK now I'm OLD - actually, now I'm facing 35 :-/

[identity profile] coneycat.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
My supervisor questioned my purchase of a book for the occupational therapy collection. And then a couple of responses to a post I made about the type of riding I do made me think the posters do not respect my discipline. Woe is me.

Sorry, thought I would borrow your party for a minute. Because I'm a little bummed right now myself.

Thirty is a tough one for a lot of people--it sounds so grownup, and we feel so not. And it's probably not a good idea to tell you that forty is a power age, where you feel free to go around saying "I am forty effing years old and I do not have to put up with this!" I kind of love being a by-God grownup, even though I wear jeans and drive an old car and spend too much time hanging out in bars listening to musicians who are half my age.

No wait, those are the *reason* I love being a by-God grownup. It's fun to be able to do any damn thing you want.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Hey, there's room at the party for everyone. : )

[identity profile] outinthestorm.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I got a similar mixer (http://www.productreview.com.au/showitem.php?item_id=35322) about a month ago, for my 30th, along with a whole heap of pots and pans, blenders and a good deep fryer.
People started commenting how "adult" I was getting. *rolls eyes*
But seriously, the mixer is the best present I ever got. Not having to mix everything with a hand-mixer is wonderful.

[identity profile] pointedulac.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:46 pm (UTC)(link)
YAY! LolRPattz. Ha. I am far too easily amused. This is my favorite LOLpire:

[identity profile] robinmc.livejournal.com 2008-12-03 09:49 pm (UTC)(link)
The LOLpire really does sum up the entire series very nicely.

I don't know what it is about this time of year. It doesn't make me depressed anymore so much as it makes me extra super-duper cynical. I agree with everybody else: more booze please.

[identity profile] unicornluvr.livejournal.com 2008-12-04 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
Come to the Parker Family Christmas- we start on the champagne (and some of the more serious contenders, the scotch) in the morning in order to better help us decorate the sugar cookies. Oh, and tolerate one another.

I don't actually anticipate hordes of angry Twihards, mainly because my site+LJ (I use a crossposting plugin) are way off the beaten path, but what the hell, it was fun to make. *evil grin*

If it helps, I've been having a pity party for the past three days. I almost started crying while driving to work today, from the CHRISTMAS MUSIC. It's time to do...something. Like fly off to Mexico for a week. Oh wait. My mom is doing that, not me.
