In which I bring you a Cascade o' Remakes

A few things:

I think I gave the wrong impression when I talked about my closet the other day--it's not Confessions of a Shopaholic up in there; it's filled with fifteen (or more) years of cheap junk. The "purses and handbags" are, like, $20 woven satchels or totes from a couple of local places, not $1500 Prada bags or something. And I have a habit of stashing away old odds and ends--the scarf nobody wanted, the ribbons from opened gifts or old dresses, the old green vase cluttering up the kitchen counter, the beads from the necklace that broke--and so most of the accumulated stuff didn't even cost me anything. And many of the "boxes of clippings" are shoeboxes, not gigantic crates or anything. The list was more of an exercise in "Wow, when you put it in words like that, I really do have a lot of ancient and pointless crap I could stand to get rid of," not "Look at my decadent materialism!"

However, if you were interested in the historical costume coloring books, they are from Bellerophon Books and roughly $5 each.

Re: Yesterday's Secret Life: The rocking chair (sitting unheralded in the back of one of the pictures) was one of the smaller reader gift/mail items that I've been holding onto until I can work them in. Also, I don't know why Anna's arm kind of looks jaundiced in the picture. Also-also: two icons!

(I TOLD YOU GUYS The Littlest Edward was tiny, didn't I?)

aw, hell, Ewan McGregor? I'm gonna have to see this now

I KNOW. I was going to avoid it...
(though the trailers are going a really good job at making Angels and Demons look good)

[identity profile] nicolars.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Fwiw I never thought your closet inventory seemed materialistic or acquisitive -- I thought it was an interesting look at the kind of things people tend to accumulate over the years. And I say this as someone who loathes the Shopaholic books.

[identity profile] orca-girl.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Will you watch a '300 meets Taken' adaptation of 'The Odyssey'?

Only if it stars Sean Bean reprising his role from "Troy". (IMO, he was the best thing about that film.)

Jetsons Vs. Predator

I'd go see that.

Bioshock must get made! It's one of my favorite games mostly because of its unusual story.

[identity profile] beebs-mcgee.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Why would they remake Drop Dead Fred????? It was good to begin with!!

But I guess a focus on the world of imaginary friends would be kind of cool...

Grrr...I hate ambivalence.

[identity profile] floatingpencil.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 10:08 pm (UTC)(link)
Damn. When I saw the link about Pattinson in Remember Me I thought it was the Christopher Pike book. That would have been fun.

I went to the premire for Wolverine yesterday. I wasnt there in the morning when he ordered the breakfast but everyone I spoke to was incredibly touched. The movie though was fantastic!

I'm glad Henry Cavill didn't get Edward. Because I love Henry Cavill and he in NO WAY IN HELL should ever be mixed up in that crazyfen.
Charles Brandon does not sparkle.

this made me laugh so hard I scared the dog.

Also, can I say that I love the use of the MLP stable as TLE's sort-of Greg Brady apartment? I've been thinking about using my old dollhouse that belongs to my daughter now as a hangout for SnubSnape & Lucius (http://www.motherhood-unscripted.com/?p=1708), but haven't had the time to pull it out yet. Totally brilliant.

[identity profile] lisa-zj.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 11:01 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't think your post about the closet sounded like gross materialism. Did somebody get their panties in a bunch or something? It actually made me feel better about my closets. Every room in my house has closets like that, that's why I keep putting off the cleaning out :)

[identity profile] rclementmoore.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
I had a similar feeling when I posted about my fetish for bags and purses. It sounded very Shopaholic but I love a cute Target bag (not to mention the touristy cheapies I've picked up) just as much as a designer one. More, actually. I have no love for the overdone satchel hobo suitcases popular now. (Except for how much stuff I could put in them, which I don't think is what the designer has in mind.)

I think it says something about me that my two big fetishes are bags and organizational office supplies. I guess I'm apt to carry my baggage around with me always, but I like it organized and compartmentalized.

[identity profile] melayka.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Because we have so many Airbender fans around here, I'm tempted to refer to this movie as 'Cameron!Avatar' from now on.

LOL, please do. For a minute there, I was both ungodly excited and extremely confused. (NGL, couldn't care less about Cameron's magnum opus to Development Hell, but I'm on pins and needles for the Shamalayan schadenfreude.)

[identity profile] softer-colours.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 11:16 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm excited for The Lovely Bones - when I first read the book I was fourteen and I cried the entire way through it. I picked it up again the other night and surprise surprise, still made me bawl. While I think that the power of it lies in the little touches (example, Susie talking about her body making a warm spot on Harvey's gargage floor and what not) the movie looks like it'll be pretty.

The most gut-renching part about it all, for me, was how Susie accepts that her family needs to move on and basically not let her haunt them. I know grief is a terrible fear but I hate the idea of forgetting someone you love; it's just so final. :0

[identity profile] lady-of-the-sea.livejournal.com 2009-04-28 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I've actually been meaning to thank you for posting your closet inventory!

I come from a long line of hoarders, and I really really need to go through stuff. Writing it down like that might help me 1) Have fun doing it, and B) look at the stark words on paper. For example: "Strange teddy bear ballerina angel that a family friend sent me years ago that smells like mold but I feel too guilty about throwing it out to throw it out" and help me get the courage to do what needs to be done. Especially when there may even be more than one of those lurking around.
So just know that you are not alone. And you've made me feel braver XD

[identity profile] serenenuit.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't think your post about your closet was materialistic at all. It just made me think that perhaps I should get rid of some of the sh*t lurking behind my own closed doors. I won't though because the thought of it just makes me very, very tired.

And please, yes, refer to the *other* Avatar as Cameron!Avatar or Camerontar or something. I got excited for a second before I saw your note at the end of the link.

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 12:05 am (UTC)(link)
He is SO TINY.

Also, I totally knew exactly what your closet excavation was like - my closet at my parents' house is exactly the same, despite that once a year for many years I would spend a full week trying to sort and get rid of things in it. And it isn't even a walk-in. A lot of the stuff is junk or, like, an entire big box of memories like some valentine I got in 1st grade or whatever. Heh.

[identity profile] kitrinlu.livejournal.com 2009-04-29 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
I totally got the closet thing. My entire life is like your closet - I have great piles of random stuff stored in various places all over the country :)

>>Will you watch a '300 meets Taken' adaptation of 'The Odyssey'?

NO. Stop messing with my great literature, damn you! *fumes*

Also, Wolverine, the sexy beast newsflash: I don't even care for him, and I LOLed.

"Five Ways the Swine Flu Story Is Dumb [Aporkalypse Now]."

You didn't say there were zombie pictures! NOW I WON'T SLEEP.

And then Bill Murray as a zombie? Now is not a good time for this irrational fear.

And Russell Brand as Drop Dead Fred? It's gonna be epic. Or lame. Either way, I'll watch it.

WHAT? Remake of Drop Dead Fred -speeds away to the article-

ohhh gross....I haven't actually seen any of Mr. Brands stuff...but I've heard horrid things...and well, you know he did commit that one sin at the MTV awards. I hope it turns out alright.
