My day, so exciting
Mar. 21st, 2009 01:57 pmA busy morning--errands, chicken biscuit, swung by Target to pick up the Three-Disc Exclusive Twilight Whatever Omg (I saw about six different people "casually" milling around the display, waiting to grab the DVD until they thought no one was looking--particularly one shifty-looking guy--and a pair of girls loudly ransacking the DVD section on the other side of the electronics department in search of it), visited my grandmother on the way to her hair appointment, mailed off a couple of packages at the UPS store, and then we picked up Sam from his summer haircut, which, I must say, is probably Alfonso's best work yet.
Meanwhile! More pictures of the newest Shelf arrival (go here to find out who it was, if you haven't read it already):
I took a few more pictures because for some reason, the others just really weren't doing her justice--I don't know that you really see how awesome she is until that middle picture up there. You can't really tell, either, but her hair is so, so soft. And she has a little cluster of pine needles in the back! (For reference, here's what Eva Green!Serafina looks like.) She doesn't come with any accessories, though--I wish Tonner had made her a bow and some arrows, or even a knife. (But we all know how craftsy I am...) So yeah--thecloud-pine cloud-juniper was real, not a toy prop, although it probably wouldn't have been included even under the best of circumstances because the witches flew unaided in the Golden Compass movie. Which you might want to rent or Netflix or something--I think it's even on some movie channel or other now. You'll get a better idea of what Lyra and Serafina are like and how the alethiometer works, and something of the significance of witches taking lovers, although the real reason that would cause drama is left to the books. Let's put it this way: witches are calm, otherworldly, and a bit emotionally distant because they're so long-lived (which is one of the reasons why Serafina's concern for Lyra is so remarkable)... until you reject them.

Heh, that's probably how I'll be when it's released here next month. Unless I save myself the trauma and get it cheaper online. Then nobody will ever know.

Date: 2009-03-21 08:21 pm (UTC)Omigosh, Serafina is gorgeous. And now that I see how diaphanous her dress actually is, Edward’s meebling makes total sense. Poor boy (HAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAA).

So if anyone has Cinemax on Demand its under "THE Golden Compass" Not Golden Compass, The (Which I almost missed it because they switch it around like that all the time!)
OH! And would you mind getting Iorek's measurements for me? I would like to try my hand at some good armor for him...
