Odds and ends

Please think findy thoughts for a plot-important scarf I KNOW I have but I can't find anywhere. Trust me. You want me to find this scarf.

Sister Girl has acquired herself an LJ to post Comic-Con adventures on when she gets back, so that should be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, my sister's boyfriend is stuck in Atlanta on a three-hour layover. You can drive to Birmingham faster than that.

Meanwhile-meanwhile, I am scared, but I am determined to figure out how to put the book and Not Eowyn on eBay today, because Sunday's a good day for that and it needs to go already.

GO CORALINE GO! (Coraline 2009's first Oscar contender?)

Yes, I did hear about Summit optioning Breaking Dawn. I'll believe it when I see it. Go here if you don't remember why it's so controversial--make sure you read the end of the second installment, if nothing else.

Today's Snack Deathmatch: Sour cream and onion potato chips vs. soft pretzels.

And finally (last is good in terms of people seeing it), from [livejournal.com profile] alexthedevil: "I know a lot of people are going through hard times, but is there any chance you'd be able to pimp the Red Cross bushfire appeal? I'm not sure how widespread the coverage is internationally, but at last count there's 66 dead and 700+ homes destroyed from the fires yesterday."

A quick prayer to St. Anthony (even if you're not Catholic) always helps me. I usually just say, "St. Anthony, help me find x." I get a feeling and always find what it is. A prayer is already on its way, but it doesn't hurt to double up.

Yeah, in my family it's always, "Tony, Tony, come around; something's lost and can't be found" and then you name the object. My aunt swears it works; I think my having defected to the Protestant side takes away its magic workability for me.

Hey, I'm an Episcopalian, and he always comes through for me. It's all in the belief and the listening to that divine voice that comes to say, "It's under the couch..."

One thing that the Breaking Dawn movie rant reminds me of is this whole "Fade to black" business. Don't a lot of books "fade to black" and skip over sex scenes to save us an awkward fluffy romance novel experience anyway? I've read many a novel involving sex that glossed over the process itself. Maybe they're just angry they missed out on an awkward sex scene as only SMeyer could do it.

You know it's bad when...

I read " I'm not sure how widespread the coverage is internationally..."

And thought someone was trying to make a clever word using "internet," like "internetionally." It took me a solid 3 reads to realize, no, it was just the word "internationally."

Thank you for posting about the bushfires.

The extent is so amazingly destructive: I live in the SE suburbs (a fair distance from any of the fires) of Melbourne, Victoria, but when I open the front door, everything reeks of smoke. Smoke can apparently also be seen as far as New Zealand.

Donations are great.

They should use this as the movie poster for Breaking Dawn (NSFW/NSFbrain):

Thankyou for linking for the Victorian Bushfires. Its just so sad. I was down in Melbourne for the weekend and the heat was indescribable. It was like sticking your face in a hot oven. Is it getting much media coverage overseas? You might want to look here (http://www.smh.com.au/). It's 131 at the moment.

Breaking Dawn will NEVER happen as a movie. Never, not even just because the narrative is a big giant mess of massive wtf-ery on every psychological level known to man, but I'm sure they know by now that BD was the book that broke the Twilight fanbase. I doubt they'd want to risk tapping into that wacky drama again.

But if it, by chance, is made into a movie, it'll be the only Twilight movie I see in theatres XD
