Please think findy thoughts for a plot-important scarf I KNOW I have but I can't find anywhere. Trust me. You want me to find this scarf.

Sister Girl has acquired herself an LJ to post Comic-Con adventures on when she gets back, so that should be forthcoming.

Meanwhile, my sister's boyfriend is stuck in Atlanta on a three-hour layover. You can drive to Birmingham faster than that.

Meanwhile-meanwhile, I am scared, but I am determined to figure out how to put the book and Not Eowyn on eBay today, because Sunday's a good day for that and it needs to go already.

GO CORALINE GO! (Coraline 2009's first Oscar contender?)

Yes, I did hear about Summit optioning Breaking Dawn. I'll believe it when I see it. Go here if you don't remember why it's so controversial--make sure you read the end of the second installment, if nothing else.

Today's Snack Deathmatch: Sour cream and onion potato chips vs. soft pretzels.

And finally (last is good in terms of people seeing it), from [livejournal.com profile] alexthedevil: "I know a lot of people are going through hard times, but is there any chance you'd be able to pimp the Red Cross bushfire appeal? I'm not sure how widespread the coverage is internationally, but at last count there's 66 dead and 700+ homes destroyed from the fires yesterday."

See that key in the picture? While promoting it they would nail tons of tiny metal keys to walls and public places for people to take. My friend has one she bought off ebay :D

I don't see how they can make Breaking Dawn PG-13 or less, but I think it would be very entertaining to watch unsuspecting parent/boyfriend/un-initiated moviegoers as they take in that one. Think of the people-watching!

My best friend (who likes the books) and I got into a discussion about how they could film that particular scene and still manage to get a PG-13, and we figured out that it would be pretty easy. Show a closed door. Play some screaming, arguing, bones snapping, and eventually a baby's cry on the soundtrack.

Granted, for the most part it would sound like any other edited-down childbirth, but it would get them their precious PG-13.

And will they be handing out free cocaine at the door to heighten the cracked-out feeling of the Breaking Dawn movie?

I'd burn Summit down now just for optioning it if I wasn't so looking forward to the Italy scenes in New Moon.

If they do make a Breaking Dawn movie, I know you were talking about David Cronenberg, but I kinda hope they go for all out camp and hire somebody like John Waters or Baz Luhrmann. Give us the spectacularly lulzy finale we deserve. I know it won't happen that way, but a girl can dream.

Oh hell yes to that last one. And not just the victims as well - any time anyone in Australia comes across the RFS donation boxes (they're often in the shape of see-through fire hats and I've seen them in pubs, general stores or servos) people should donate, even if it's just silver. The boys (and girls) do a lot of fundraising themselves too, and boy is it justified. The work they do out there is intense, and I've seen them spend eight hours at a fire only to be called out all over again three hours later.

Fires are scary. Donations are awesome.

Obviously they need to get Uwe Boll to direct Breaking Dawn, for maximum lolarity and truly horrible awesomeness.

I really really envy everyone who got to see Coraline already, and I'm kind of stupidly proud of Selick for directing another movie which people seem to love (I reserve my opinion to when I actually see it, though I don't see a reason not to like the movie). Sigh, May couldn't come soon enough.

I really want to see a Breaking Dawn movie. Om nom nom amniotic sac and all.

Ok, wait.. I could have sworn the trailer(in the Coraline movie when we went) said Monsters vs Aliens was coming out July 4th, not March 27th.

Huh.

You may be thinking about the third Ice Age; that's what's coming out on July 4th, and its trailer is in front of Coraline too.

As far as the Breaking Dawn optioning, I'd be inclined to believe two things: that it's more covering themselves than a sign of serious movie-making intent, and if they do make it they'll seriously adjust it. I mean, they could do a Meyer fade-to-black rather than show the whole caesarian (especially since Bella is fairly out of it anyway) and lessen the seriousness of the injuries the baby gives her? Something so controversial would possibly make a lot of money, too...potentially. :)

Just got back from seeing Coraline. It was good, but reading the book first means sacrificing a lot of surprises, and that was a bit of a loss. Actually, the scariest part of the experience was when my mother (the only person who'd accompany me to "a kids' movie" leaned over in the middle of the 17 Again trailer and asked who Zac Efron was. I didn't mind that she didn't know; I minded that she sounded so interested.

I just returned from seeing Coraline, and it was wonderful! The animation (and knitting) was beyond beautiful and I'm about to buy the iTunes soundtrack. Thanks for promoting it so much, I might not have had such interest before.

It was the perfect way to end my birthday weekend.

re: Breaking Dawn, I can see them doing the fade to black or glossing over the whole birth thing and headboard breaking/pillow biting segments, but what about Jacob imprinting on a BABY! How is that ok???

Thanks so much for adding a link for the bushfire appeal. I live in the state where the main bushfires hit and it's been tragic.

And you might be interested to know that the stars of Watchmen will be on Rove (An Australian show) in a week's time, which should be good. I'll try and find a link for you after it's aired.

I'm on my way to Coraline in about an hour or so, and I can't wait! Also, I will think all the good findy thoughts I can, because I suspect what this scarf might be for, and if it's Secret Life of Dolls, then eee! Secret Life of Dolls is a much better soap than anything on TV.

I don't know what's worse... the idea of a Breaking Dawn movie in and of itself, or the fact that there are two more movies before the fourth - and I know I'm going to end up seeing them all.

Why do I do this to myself? It's like eating a whole bucket-load of cotton candy. Seems like a really good idea until afterward, when your teeth hurt and your stomach hurts and there's bits of it in your hair and your taste buds are gone and you can never again wash the sickly sweet sticky feeling of shame off your hands, woe.

okay, so they have the rights to Breaking Dawn. Thats no big deal. They have the rights to a lot of movies that will never be made.

Plus, they will still need a cast, and I for one can see our dear RPatz running for the hills first chance he gets.

Just so people have an idea of the scale of the Victorian bushfires--the death toll is currently at 109 and expected to rise.

The fire toll has risen to 133 and is expected to reach around 230. As a resident of Victoria, please, PLEASE donate if you can! So many homes and lives have been lost, this is the worst bushfire we've ever seen.

Thanks so much for putting up that Red Cross link. Last I heard (http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2009/02/09/2485712.htm) over 750 homes and 108 people were gone. The death toll has galloped past that of the legendary Ash Wednesday.

I'm so bitter about missing Coraline! :( Stupid London. I'll either have to wait until May or watch it...some other way. *shifty eyes* At least everyone ever is getting Watchmen on the same date.

HEE HEE--oh, thank you for the chance to read your BD recap(s) again, but they're fucking priceless. A+ idea to do it in real time, btw, because there's nothing like that first reaction. The movie. Seriously. SERIOUSLY. What are they going to do???

Jealous about Comic-Con too! I went last year and embarrassed myself in front of my favorite artist and spent too much in comics. Those are good memories, y'know.

A bit off-topic here, but I've been thinking for a while, and for some reason, the name "Sister Girl" just seems like it would make a good name for a superhero. I mean, I can see/hear it now: "Make way for the incredible SISTER GIRL, and her amazing sidekick, CLEO SUE!"
