I was the one who had to wait for the pizza to be delivered because my mother was otherwise occupied: "I AM GOING TO BE WATCHING THE SUGAR BOWL!" And I was like, what? Why? What the hell do you expect it to do?

I'm not allowed downstairs for the duration of the game now.

Things I did today that were awesome: Actually got off the computer and read a book. Well, most of one; I'll finish the rest of it tonight. Also, stayed off the Dew. Have a slight headache now, but that may be more from reading. I'm also mulling over writing that tarot-based short story collection I've had in mind--that's what the "Strength" in the title here refers to--but that'll probably take years to come to fruition. But it's fun thinking about it.

(Wow. The headache is more than "slight" now.)

[livejournal.com profile] gfrancie mentioned an [livejournal.com profile] unclutter_2009 comm that I liked the idea of, so today's decluttering effort: Threw away a beauty product given to me by someone who turned out to be crazy. I can't really elaborate on the situation beyond that, except that said item has been on a back shelf for about two years drying out anyway, and now that bad juju's out my house.

It goes to show how out of it I am that I thought Lionsgate had already kicked the bucket. *shrugs*

The MAJOR DOCTOR WHO SPOILER is that tomorrow night they'll be announcing who's replacing David Tennant, so...not that major yet, really. Just Prelude to a Wank.

Here's the io9 article: http://io9.com/5122414/new-doctor-who-actor-named-tomorrow

No, I know. It's just that the last time I said they were replacing Tennant (with someone, anyone), people raised holy hell because I posted a "spoiler." I'm saying, when we actually know who the replacement is and I have a link to the announcement, I'll put it up.

"Will Lionsgate Be the Next Studio to Kick the Bucket?"

One can only hope. That crap parade of a movie studio should have thrown it in a while ago.

I'm terribly depressed about the death of Jett Travolta. Was it epilepsy? I've heard of people landing badly on their head or neck. My heart goes out to his family.

In other news...

I was in a press conference with Zack a couple months ago and he basically said that they're not stopping us from making the movie. In fact it sounded awfully like Fox was contributing to the press and marketing campaign. So it looks to me like a big spoof that just engages. It looks like a big spoof that ends up with a lot of money changing hands down the line and the audience won't notice the difference. But I think Warner Brothers' coffers will be lighter. I think somebody made a mistake along the way, and they're going to pay for it. But I don't think anyone is going to stop the release of the film, that seems foolish for all.

I sure hope to God this is the case. And wow, finally the picture of Twilight Lady!

Ah, okay. That makes much more sense. I'm sure many helpful, inevitably angry emails will fling your way when it's announced. (Honestly, I'm so out of the loop when it comes to Who news I thought he'd already been recast)

Also Dan comments on the budding romance of Ginny and Harry, by saying ''Harry's got a real thing for her, and that is slightly odd, because when we met, I was 11 and she was 9, and she was only ever Ron's little sister,'' says Radcliffe, now 19. ''But that all changed, and here we are snogging.''

Am I the only one who thinks it's a bit creepy that he seems to be talking like he is Harry?

It's mysterious, actually. Not "Call Dr. House!" mysterious, but no official confirmation of what's going on. Travolta and his reps have always said that Jett had Kawasaki syndrome, but that's not a chronic condition and doesn't seem to account for his symptoms, especially this late in life after he supposedly contracted. There's long been a rumor that Jett really had autism. John Travolta is a Scientologist and they don't acknowledge psychiatric or neurological conditions as real, so that would explain why he would refuse to acknowledge it in public. Actually, Jett could have had autism and Kawasaki syndrome.

A few years ago (holy crap, it was 8.5 years ago now) I realized I was drinking two, and sometimes three bottles of Barq's Root Beer at work. So I quit cold turkey. The first RB-free day I had the worst headache of my life (to that point) which increased until I threw up. After that first horrible day, my body adjusted to the lack of caffeine and I felt awesome.

/I don't positively know that the initial headache and the caffeine-withdrawal are connected, because it turns out I suffer from migraines, but it was very coincidental

//Anyway, hang in there!

I'd love to see what Bollywood would do with Back to the Future. The difference between something like this and The Seeker is that Seeker is deliberate sacrilege, and Bollywood BTTF is cultural reinterpretation. Obviously there is no chance of it being a close remake (nor would I want one -- they got it right the first time) but it could be kind of an awesome movie.

A Bollywood Back to the Future? Oh no, you do not touch Back to the Future in any way, shape, or form. Even if it's only a loose remake, it's still way too close to a remake. Back to the Future is sacred to me.

Thanks for the link about Guardians of Ga'Hoole. I had no idea they were making a movie; I'm a librarian and I'm sure the kids tearing through the series will be excited about the movie. *makes a note to order more copies*

Oh, don't get me started on the Scientologists' tendencies to deny some symptoms are real...that's why I was born seven weeks premature and almost didn't make it. But I really feel badly for the Travolta's loss.

I do too, it's really tragic.

Of course, if it comes out after the autopsy that his parents had something to do with his death because of negligence, my feelings might change, but I sincerely hope that's not the case.

that's why I was born seven weeks premature and almost didn't make it.

Really? Were your parents Scientologists? What happened?

My Mom was actually into both Scientology and Christian Science at different points in the seventies. Both groups convinced her that medical science was bunk. As a result, she didn't see a doctor during her pregnancy until she was being admitted to the ER with eclampsia, and they decided I had to come right out or I would die.

I consider myself to be very accepting of other people's beliefs, up until the point when they start convincing people not to see doctors or take necessary medication. That's when I scream 'CULT.'

I think you've got the right to scream whatever you want if a religion nearly killed you.

It personally pisses me off that Ron Hubbard would consider me defective or whatever because I have a mental disorder and take medication for it.

Heh, thanks. The weird thing is, I was totally fine yesterday. And I usually have my Mountain Dew(s) at midday, so it's like my body gave me one day as a freebie, and then when it became obvious that I really wasn't going to drink any soda today either, it got mad. REALLY MAD.

So, I finally went to see Twilight yesterday. Yes, it was just as bad as I thought. But what was hilarious was the conversation I overheard when I'd gone to the bathroom - two 40-something ladies who had just left a screening:

Woman 1: My, that Robert sure can act, can't he?
Woman 2: *dreamy sigh* I wish I was Bella...

I noticed that too and had to give it a bit of a long second glance. I think it will be good for those kids once that series is over and done with and they can move on. Probably not so good for their wallets, though.
