If Microsoft Word doesn't stop crashing and losing all my work, I'm going to start charging Bill Gates for lost man hours.

Today's Journal Birthmonth Flashback: Let's be lazy and link to The Happening in Fifteen Minutes from earlier this summer, since it's out on DVD today. I highly recommend that you at least Netflix it or something, if only to shock and amaze yourself with the number of things I did not, in fact, make up. (Extramarital dessert... the mood ring... "cheese and crackers"... the trees rustling on the phone... Hot Dog Time...)

And does that mean he's fucking Johnny Depp?no subject

Date: 2008-10-07 10:26 pm (UTC)We can dream.I just don't like her, and never really have, although I'm not sure why.

Date: 2008-10-07 11:40 pm (UTC)Followed up by Planet of The Apes. I actually liked the movie and whatever problems it had, she and Paul Giamatti were excellent in the ape aspects of their roles.
It's fine that people don't like HBC but I resent that people keep trying to use the 'wife' card as to why she's always in Burton's movies. Burton & Depp are practically a married couple and in an alternate universe probably are but do they bitch about Depp starring in most of Burton's movies too? I doubt it.
HBC & Depp work well in Burton's movies, they've got the wacky range needed to bring Burton's wacky stuff to life!
whoo... didn't realize I had a soapbox in there.
I started this comment to say: if you haven't seen Fight Club, try that to see if it changes your mind at all about HBC. Might not make you LIKE her but might give you enough to just be neutral about her.

Date: 2008-10-07 11:53 pm (UTC)I suspect a part of it may be because of Tim Burton's earlier work: it was eerie and perverse, but not so commercialized. Nightmare was great, Frankenweenie perfection.
Tim Burton's always been hit-or-miss with me anyway. I didn't like Scissorhands, but loved Sleepy Hollow. As I've disliked the last few Burton films, maybe I'll end up loving Alice.

Date: 2008-10-08 12:08 am (UTC)I can understand that feeling cause I've always disliked Gwyneth Paltrow but can't really come up with a great reason why.
I hate that she won the Oscar over Cate. <- biggest crime right there.
I hate that she wore that UGLY pink thing that made her look totally flat and yet people gushed (asskissers!)
I hate that everyone thinks she's so hot but I don't think so.
I think there's a reason that Brad Pitt & Ben Affleck dumped her to marry other people.
I think she doesn't really have much talent but coasts on the star power of her parents who are/were phenomenal (I HEART BLYTHE SO MUCH)
Yet people have treated her like a muse, inspirational. WHAT?
She seems like such a whiny thing though I do think she's grown up a little.
But none of those really hold up for long and its not like she stuffed the ballot personally to take the Oscar away. But I still don't like her! :D

Date: 2008-10-08 04:31 pm (UTC)I like HBC. I haven't always liked the movies she's been in, but I like her. Even when she wears the most god-awful monstrosities.
I'm excited for Alice. I haven't been too impressed with Burton's latest movies. Big Fish? Complete waste of time.
The best thing about his movies is that he usually casts Johnny Depp and Danny Elfman usually composes the music. That's worth the price of admission right there.
