I'm really pissed about the Iron Man/Narnia face-off. Of course Iron Man will win, but when Narnia doesn't go #1, how is Disney going to agree to the next four films? I'm very, very afraid.

[identity profile] jettcat.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
I think I join you in printing out the bit after the sauce!

[identity profile] somewhatmoot.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
Man. Why do people insist on 'Silence of the Lambs' being a scary movie?

It's too awesome to be scary!

[identity profile] sabra-n.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:13 am (UTC)(link)
X3 made lots of money, didn't it? That must be why I keep seeing Brett Ratner's name attached to project. I mean, that movie killed a fandom, but it did...make...money. *goes off to cry somewhere*

*attempts to cosmically slap Nobel guy* I have heard lack of translations cited as an issue in American theater, so it might be one in literature, too- but that's about the only point I'm willing to semi-concede to him. Cripes.

To end on a happy note, Peter Sarsgaard is great in The Seagull, and sitting barely 10 feet from him was one of my Top Awesome Moments in theater.

In his defense, the chicken was being a bit of a dick.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:20 am (UTC)(link)
Hee. It's one of my most favoritest movies. I do wonder how much scarier it would have been in a theater. On a big screen. In the dark. (I was like 12 or 13 when it came out.)

Actually, speak of the devil, they talk about it in the Cam Gigandet/Twilight interview:
MTV: There are old stories of Anthony Hopkins sneaking into theaters when "Silence of the Lambs" was playing. He'd wait until a scary Hannibal Lecter moment in the movie, then tap a viewer on the shoulder and say, "Hello," just to freak them out.

I'm pretty sure I would have fallen over and died.

[identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Look, if that chicken won't help you make a long-distance phone call, of course you have to beat it with the phone.

they're REALLY making spiderman 4? kristen dunst must be down on cash. i dont know if the cast can make it. did you see the press appearances for spiderman 3? every actor was acting like a gun was at their backs. i just felt bad for them, and now they have to do it all over.

[identity profile] theendofallthat.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
whaattt? of all the things to hate about Blindness...protest THAT ONE SCENE I refuse to spoil but I'm sure is in the movie that essentially made me loathe the book.

[identity profile] minlette.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:32 am (UTC)(link)
that moment in mulholland drive? i pretty much fell over dead. and it wasn't even like she popped up, she sliiiid on out like it weren't no thang. but still terrifying. and silence of the lambs is Awesome, but it definitely counts as horror.

Also, I saw "Sunday School Musical" back when it was called "Sister Act 2".

[identity profile] foresthouse.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
That made me laugh out loud. I hope it's true.

Just picked up my copy of Nation! Hooray!

[identity profile] mercat.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:38 am (UTC)(link)
Okay, the Sunday School Musical thing made me lol. I had the tv on Wife Swap today and the mom was talking about how wholesome musicals are... Right. Because Phantom of the Opera and Little Shop of Horrors and 90% of everything on Broadway doesn't have cleverly written sex puns or anything that my high school had to pretend to be ignorant of. Oh no.

...But seriously I'm having a hard time not loling at this kind of thing. X)

[identity profile] jettcat.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
It also syncs with whatever music is playing...

[identity profile] ppyajunebug.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:42 am (UTC)(link)
I am so excited about "Sunday School Musical." The only thing that makes bad dialogue and worse singing and acting by semi-attractive teenagers better?

Jesus.

[identity profile] brigidsblest.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 02:44 am (UTC)(link)
I saw it in the theater when it came out. There were times when the tension was so strong I stopped breathing for chunks of time. The friend I went to see it with, afterward, said she wished she hadn't seen it, because it was going to give her nightmares for weeks (it did). We were both 18 at the time.

[identity profile] koritsimou.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
I have never seen Mulholland drive, but I just watched that clip up there and I freaked out and did not breathe.

[identity profile] koritsimou.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Hey, do not diss the awesomeness that is Sister Act 2.

[identity profile] firei.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
That Britney interests me because I actually went to Serendipity 3 on Friday night for the first time ever, and I thought it was crap. The lighting was bad, the space was cramped, and the cake I got was terribad. There wasn't a wait, but I spent $16 on two bites of cake. (It was a regular big slice, it was just disgusting.)

You sent me on a wandering trail and I ended up at Nikki Finke's and this completely boggling subhead: Lack of German Accents Still an Issue. (It's about a WWII film, and not speaking English with a German accent). Still, full of WTF?

[identity profile] stokerbramwell.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:21 am (UTC)(link)
I am so divided about the NFB protest of Blindness. On the one hand, I'm glad SOMEONE is calling them on out on it. But on the other hand...protests are only going to give the movie more attention...

[identity profile] r-a-black.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
You know what, that outtake from the photoshoot would have done much better as the cover. It's still bad, but not half as bad as the cover image was.

[identity profile] somewhatmoot.livejournal.com 2008-10-01 03:26 am (UTC)(link)
See. That's the thing. Aside from the whole "oh crap he's wearing that dudes face!" bit...Lecter doesn't really do much for the 'scare' factor of the movie.

It's really the Buffalo Bill dude and his night-vision shenanigans.

That said, Anthony Hopkins doing anything is pretty freaky. I don't think there's a man so universally loved who is also so damned creepy.
