Okay, I'm putting this above the cut, because it is one of the greatest things I have ever seen in my entire life, and given some of the things I have linkspammed, that is saying A LOT. Ladies and gentlemen, I bring you: THE BEST FANDOM SECRETS POST EVER. Turn off the internet, y'all. It's time to go home.

Meanwhile, we have more icons, for both "Growing Up Cullen" and the Midnight Sun recap, from [livejournal.com profile] incognito323.

(OKAY FIREFOX CAN STOP CRASHING ANY MOMENT NOW.)

Oh, re: JaHurricane: the J storm this year is Josephine, which makes me think of this Josephine. And the hurricane before Josephine? Ike. Looks like someone over at the World Meteorological Organization is a Lemony Snicket fan.

Which fictional characters do you wish were real? Hmm... I'll have to think about that and get back to you. The funny thing is, though, I immediately start thinking in terms of which characters I'd like to be friends with, not which Hawt Literary Guyz I'd like to nail or anything. Like, I think you could have a pretty fun girls' night in with Anne Shirley, Violet Baudelaire, Jo March and Lyra Belacqua. Maybe Susan Pevensie could do our hair.

(My mother's home sick today, and I came down to check on her and found her watching Jumper. It was about 45 minutes from the end, so I ended up getting sucked into Jamie Bell the fight scenes [y'all, I'm not surprised Samuel L. Jackson still has a hate-on for Hayden Christiansen], and then all of a sudden at the end Christiansen [SPOILER, if you care] goes to see his long-lost mom [my mother swears she only appeared for all of twenty seconds earlier], and she is DIANE LANE, WHAT?, and apparently her daughter [the sister Christiansen never knew?] inherited her Big Name Cameosity, because the daughter opens the door and is like, "Ew, DARTH VADER, what do you WANT?" and Hayden Christiansen's like, "BELLA SWAN? Yeah, there's a Laura coming up after that, and I'm Lauren. Probably the closest I'll ever get as well.

See, it's all in the details--you can even see the little "I'd hit it"/"I ship it" cards on the map when they're just in the background. Also, I've only been to FS when someone linked to it on Fandom Wank, and even *I* noticed the huge number of "omg I find the Joker hot" and "omg my secret is some normal and mundane preference" secrets. If you're going to be all LOOK AT ME, I AM SUCH A FREAK over something, you better be like, "I ship Aslan/Voldemort completely unironically. The Joker likes to watch."

There was a book, I want to say it's by Michael Innes, where every time the detectives interview a certain old man, he talks about how the "water otter" isn't performing properly. Well, this goes on for the whole book, and the poor detectives cannot for the life of them figure out what a water otter is, and why the guy keeps complaining about it. Finally, at the very end of the book (as chance would have it), the old guy says he's finally got the water otter going, and he pours them a cup of tea with it.

Ojh man, that fandom secrets secret has totally made my day. Which is unfortunate, because it's only 8.26am and that means that either the day is going to have to pull out something extra special to get over the line, or it's all downhill from here.

But I can relate to it, totally. All those people who think they're being so controversial/edgy because of things like finding the Joker hot? Come on, you can't be serious, thinking it's something you have to confess. You and half the internet, people.

The frack thing makes me laugh, because today in my OIl and Gas class I nearly choked when I heard my professor make reference to "a frack job". I thought he was a closet BSG fan, but get this - it turns out that frack is a real word, at least in the oil and gas business. You can call in for fracking, you can tell someone that new formation out near Wichita Falls has a lot of potential but needs a frack job, you can call in the frack trucks...it's the word that keeps on giving.

Two things:

Why would anyone outside of rabid Whedonites want to watch Dr. Horrible without NPH? Why do I even have to ask this question?

and

So Fox News: the fact that Duchovny can't keep his dick in his pants isn't the issue here?
