Hmmm

Thought #1: I noticed a song that really caught my ear, so to speak, in the scene in Wanted where Fox picks Wesley up outside his office (you know, where he's all giddy about quitting his job and all), and I caught enough of the lyrics to do a search. Except that I could not find a single song that matched--I'd assumed it was an existing song they'd just put on the soundtrack. Finally I got the bright idea to check the soundtrack listing on Amazon, and what do you know--it's a Danny Elfman song called "The Little Things," which I presume he wrote for the movie, since he also scored it. And I really love it. Good times.

(I would love to discuss how much I loved that crazy silly movie, but I almost don't even want to spoil the awesome bits for you. Some of which I left out of the Fifteen Minutes on purpose, by the way.)

Thought #2: In addition to trying to wrestle fifteen annotations into submission, I started to wonder if maybe $10 would be a more appealing price than $15. As in, maybe only put together ten annotations and save the rest for later. I already have 17 online "Fifteen Minutes"--two more than when I started annotating in April--anyway. It would make more sense to pick only ten than choose two to drop. That, and I had been angsting way too much about having to revisit Hannibal (not exactly my favorite piece of work).

(Thought #2b: We are, in fact, going to have to replace the dishwasher--I'd forgotten: the door is about to fall off--but it's not a priority until it actually falls down dead, and even then we can wash dishes by hand. I'm just saying, fundraising is still very much stressing me the hell out on my mind. I hate thinking of things in terms of money, but--well, I probably need to learn to do it more, not less.)

(Oh, by the way--the Sears Fridge Guy came. The part we need is back-ordered, so unless my mother can prevail upon Manager Sayid to just switch out a new fridge with us [shpfff, likely], we're not going to have the fridge fixed until July 11th.)

So, my question is--I reserve the right to choose whatever ends up working best for me, but just as another factor to take into account, which parodies would you be most interested in reading the Pop-Up Video version of (so to speak)? I'm curious to see if something I wouldn't have expected might rank really high (or really low). (Note: Only room for 15, so I took off the Harry Potters--POA and GOF. They're almost done, and I'm sure they'd get voted in anyway.)

"Manager Sayid" just took me on a flashback to Lost, Season 1. "Darlin', I've just been tortured by a spinal surgeon and a gen-yoo-wine Iraqi."

That ALWAYS happens. I hear a song in a film or a tv show that I really like and then I can't find it for beans, and it turns out to be some obscure song that was created SOLELY for that project or it was made back in 19?? and it's been lost to the gods of soundtracks!!

But at least you found it.

Oh, whoops. I meant to click Van Helsing too and didn't. Durr.

Also, I didn't choose Wanted, but that's because I haven't even seen it yet. Probably it'd be awesome annotated. :)

You can go back and change your answers at any time, I think.

Haha! Dunnit.

P.S. You know what I think would be fun? Doing a survey to see what the first m15m each fan read was (i.e. the one that got the person reading more of them). I wonder if some drew in a ton of new people or if they were all pretty even or what.

For me it was King Arthur. Which I still hug and pet and re-read sometimes when I'm feeling blue. Hee.

I enjoyed the use of NIN's "Every Day Is Exactly the Same."

Starring Nicholas Cage, of course. The ancient Tickybox is stolen by terrorists who bring it to Alcatraz, which hasn't really been decommissioned -- instead it's like Guantanamo for national secrets. Two hundred floors below the tourists, the Tickybox lies next to the Holy Grail, the extra copies of the Declaration of Independence with all the cross-outs and the beer stain from that time Franklin knocked a glass over while fucking the maid in his study, and two blackened wooden teeth from George Washington, who kept a collection of used ones in his desk. Cage is an agent for the highly secret TMI, the Tickybox Master Intelligence agency, who guard the Tickybox from unscrupulous persons such as the infamous TLDR (Tickbox Liberation Direct Resistance).

The TLDR break into Alcatraz by arguing at great length with the guards, who never quite understand the point they were trying to get across but figure, hey, they probably belong there, so why not let them in? It's not like the TMI are any easier to understand. They steal the Tickybox and threaten to use it to detonate a biological weapon (the President didn't quite understand how a biological weapon can be detonated, but the TLDR aren't very clear on their website). The Tickybox begins to tick.

In the end, Cage and the TMIs save the day by injecting the population directly in their hearts with an an antidote devised by the OMG (Organization of Medical Gurus).

I know I already cast my opinion when I voted, but TROY TROY TROY! It is how I found you! It is hilarious! Sometimes I yell "Do you even know which hand the sword goes in?" when I am particularly exasperated.

Heh, I hung around the theater to see the song credits, probably for the same one you're thinking of. I figured Elfman did it, but I wanted to double check.

Wanted was seriously awesome. Sometimes unintentionally silly, but so much fun. I think the leaving the office scene was my single favorite bit, though. I looked like a little kid on Christmas morning when I realized why he picked up the keyboard.

I seriously started whooping and clapping (as did several other people) when I saw what the keys spelled out--the friend who went with me didn't realize they spelled something until later, so I'm sure he thought I was insane at the time.

So I definitely didn't know you did V for Vend in 15.

Well, I probably knew but hadn't seen the movie around the time you DID it
so now I'm all excited!
woot! :D

That makes a lot of sense. Do 10 of them *now* and then do 10 of them 'real soon now' after that - and we can have 2 [count it] *2* sets of giggles!

I can't remember if it's VH1 or MTV that does this, but it's basically when they play a music video with little boxes "popping up" with trivia about the artist, the video or something related to them.
