Okay, I can't help it--a few Twilight links. (In case you're wondering why the Twilight blogging has suddenly exploded across LJ, it's because the first trailer started running last week in front of Speed Racer, which means that everyone's suddenly going, "Okay, I've heard of these, now I need to check them out." That's what happened with me, at least.) And you know, I was sitting there thinking about the trailer today, "Man, I would like to see the harness they had to rig up for Stewart and Pattinson to go leaping all over the place" (no, really, I was sincerely thinking this), and MY WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED. (What? I love behind-the-scenes stuff. It's a sickness. Also, almost every single picture made me laugh out loud. There's something about this movie that I just find endlessly hilarious even when I can't figure out why.) Also, from [livejournal.com profile] mycenae: Robert Pattinson interview, in which he is totally on our side; ‘Twilight’ May Look Sexy On-Screen, But The Only Action On-Set Involved 'Runny Noses' And 'Hail Globs' (wait, the vampires are "reimagined as rock stars"? OMG NO WAY I'M THE FIRST COMMENT? I've been reading your blog for like THREE YEARS and I've NEVER been the first to comment.

Sorry, it's been a boring day around here...

Well, my awareness of the characters didn't really start until after I'd seen the casting, so that's all I've seen in my head while reading. (Well, Jasper has better hair in my head.)

In my English class, my teacher takes, like, ten minutes out of the beginning of class for us to talk about "anything new or exciting" in our lives. And we have one crazy Twilight fan and several other not-as-crazy-but-still-crazy Twilight fans in our class. So when the movie was first announced, naturally she was like, "TWILIGHTMOVIEDECEMBEROMG!" and I was like, "Oh yeah, didn't they cast the guy that played Cedric as the main guy?" and she was like, "Edward? They cast the guy that played Cedric as EDWARD?" and I was like, "Yeah" and at least five heads all turned and glared at me, like I was the casting director or something, for about a minute before flipping out about how he was going to be horrible.

I just don't find his looks appealing, at all. Also, he has an enormous head. I'm not sure what the fuss is about.

I have a way better casting decision! Cast the guy who plays PRINCE CASPIAN as Edward! He's so hot.

Seriously. I'm pretty unconcerned about the quality of the movie itself, so long as I get to stare at him for at least an hour's worth of screentime.

What the shit? George Clooney was the worst Batman! I really liked Val Kilmer!

Yeah, Val Kilmer was my Batman for a long time until Christian Bale came along.

And plus, Batman Forever is a much better movie than Batman & Robin... Though that doesn't say much, as B&R was TERRIBLE.

There's a link off the smoking gun site to the Defamer (IIRC) were they have some spoilers for M. Knight "What a tweest!" Shyamalan's latest, "The Happening".

Their verdict is that he's angling to be the next Ed Wood.

It's kind of sad, a friend of mine went to school with him, and said all he ever did was talk about making movies, I wish he'd concentrate more on the "good" part.*

I loved Signs right up until the end, when I rapidly devolved into some proto-human only capable of screaming "Water?! WATER?!?!" at the screen.

Same kinda deal with The Village: I loved it right up until the "twist" at the end. That single new fact completely reorganized my interpretation of the film (as it was intended to do), but made me hate the elders of the village for their cruelty.

RPatz interview: "I hardly get to do any vampire stuff, I don't get to kill anybody. I keep trying to convince them to let me... I just want flip out once and get to kill a whole crowd."

Oh thank the Powers That Be, somebody, SOMEWHERE in the grand tapestry of batshit insanity surrounding this film has some sense about what the hell a vampire is! XD

On top of all the other awful things about these books (as so eloquently mentioned in the previous entry) one of the biggest frustrations I have is how Meyer dares to call the Cullens "vampires" when she shows absolutely no awareness of/respect for the genre.

Haha, that is so funny - I was going to alert you to the Happy Birthday thing, because it's on the main page of the GW Law site right now. Brauneis was my Awesome Copyright And Trademark Professor! You know, the one I asked about potential issues with your parodies, way back in the day? The one who thought your parodies were hilarious and considered using them as some kind of example in class? That's him! He's great.

Admittedly I haven't been following the Quantum Solace news (an attempt to stay spoiler-free), but I took a peak at the image gallery in one of the links, and found some very unfortunate hair (http://www.cinematical.com/photos/quantum-of-solace/801185/). The fact that the guy looks like Trey Parker doesn't help either.

Ahh, I forgot that Caspian was opening today. All the summer movies are sneaking up on me, it seems.

I went to see Caspian this afternoon, and thought it was a mess, but it's been getting a lot of good reviews, so that might just be me. All the same, I'm now kind of glad they're apparently only making three movies, because this one made me weep for my childhood.

:( @ Postal.

How sad is it that I was looking forward to it?

On other things...One one hand, I'm happy that Cloverfield 2 might not happen. Loved the movie, doubtful that a sequel would be any good.
On the other hand, since the Kinshin and the rest of the ARG doesn't seem like it's going to give us any answers..what now?

On that Robert Pattinson G4 interview, he's saying how he doesn't get to do much "vampire stuff," which was my one major criticism about the whole novel, no actual...vampire stuff. You know, blood-sucking and that. Good to know he's on the same page. ♥
