Friday evening, cheerfully hypomanic
May. 16th, 2008 04:38 pmOkay, I have a date with Prince Caspian tonight, so here's a backlog of linkspam accumulated while I lost my mind over the first two Twilight books:

Okay, I can't help it--a few Twilight links. (In case you're wondering why the Twilight blogging has suddenly exploded across LJ, it's because the first trailer started running last week in front of Speed Racer, which means that everyone's suddenly going, "Okay, I've heard of these, now I need to check them out." That's what happened with me, at least.) And you know, I was sitting there thinking about the trailer today, "Man, I would like to see the harness they had to rig up for Stewart and Pattinson to go leaping all over the place" (no, really, I was sincerely thinking this), and MY WISH HAS BEEN GRANTED. (What? I love behind-the-scenes stuff. It's a sickness. Also, almost every single picture made me laugh out loud. There's something about this movie that I just find endlessly hilarious even when I can't figure out why.) Also, from
mycenae: Robert Pattinson interview, in which he is totally on our side; ‘Twilight’ May Look Sexy On-Screen, But The Only Action On-Set Involved 'Runny Noses' And 'Hail Globs' (wait, the vampires are "reimagined as rock stars"? Pics here); 'Twilight' Rides: Meet Carlisle Cullen's Slick Mercedes.
Theatrical Release of Uwe Boll's 'Postal' Cancelled. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Aaaah, yes, that makes sense.

Date: 2008-05-17 07:01 am (UTC)And plus, Batman Forever is a much better movie than Batman & Robin... Though that doesn't say much, as B&R was TERRIBLE.

It's kind of sad, a friend of mine went to school with him, and said all he ever did was talk about making movies, I wish he'd concentrate more on the "good" part.*
*
Sixth Sense: Good, would have liked more had a friend not blown it for me.
Unbreakable: Good
Everything since: don't get me started... or I'll be grinding my teeth about coyotes for hours.

Date: 2008-05-17 01:10 am (UTC)Same kinda deal with The Village: I loved it right up until the "twist" at the end. That single new fact completely reorganized my interpretation of the film (as it was intended to do), but made me hate the elders of the village for their cruelty.

Date: 2008-05-17 01:22 am (UTC)Oh thank the Powers That Be, somebody, SOMEWHERE in the grand tapestry of batshit insanity surrounding this film has some sense about what the hell a vampire is! XD
On top of all the other awful things about these books (as so eloquently mentioned in the previous entry) one of the biggest frustrations I have is how Meyer dares to call the Cullens "vampires" when she shows absolutely no awareness of/respect for the genre.

-Exactly! Trailer: "They sparkle in the sun!" Me: "Sparkle? Not catch fire and burn and scream and die?!"

Is it wrong that now I really, really, want to see THE THAW? (Although I don't think George Clooney is actually in it *g*)
btw- Cleo, what was the name of Bradbury's sequel to his terrifying story "The Whole Town's Sleeping"?

Date: 2008-05-17 05:24 am (UTC)How sad is it that I was looking forward to it?
On other things...One one hand, I'm happy that Cloverfield 2 might not happen. Loved the movie, doubtful that a sequel would be any good.
On the other hand, since the Kinshin and the rest of the ARG doesn't seem like it's going to give us any answers..what now?
