So, it's my understanding that reliable spoilers are online, if not the entire book (which may be--I've heard it's out there, but I haven't seen it yet). Even [livejournal.com profile] ohnotheydidnt is telling people to stay away for the week if they don't want to be spoiled. So basically, my internet usage is going to be a good bit curtailed; I'm not reading anything on Livejournal or (and this is killing me) JournalFen this week. I'll read the Yahoo headlines and new entries/articles from reliable, non-asshole sites on Google Reader, but that's about it. (The thing about Google Reader is that you can read individual LJ feeds that you've subscribed to stripped of all icons and user comments, which is where casual rogue spoilers are generally going to come from. I mean, as opposed to people just bombing ONTD with entries titled GRAWP KILLS FIRENZE, PAGE 606, TTLY TRUE, against which you're going to be pretty defenseless. Give it a try; it works through your Gmail account.)

Anyway, what I mean to say is, I may not be around much this week. I mean, who knows, I might; but I'm pretty much expecting any and all acts of asshaberdashery, and I would not put it past anyone to swing by here and drop a spoiler bomb. You'll be safe reading anything I write, but I can't guarantee the safety of the comment section. I also can't guarantee the safety of anything I link to, because chances are I haven't vetted it thoroughly for fear of spoiling myself. Consider yourself warned, is all I'm saying. I will, however, note the source on any Harry Potter links, and you can judge for yourself if you trust that site in general not to spoil you. Caveat: do not read user comments of anything ANYWHERE. I'm not even going to go into how bad I'm going to hurt ban anyone who comes in here on purpose to spoil me, because that's just waving a red flag in front of the bull, IMO.

Meanwhile, our oven blew up, and I have no idea when we'll be able to get Oven People to come out and install a replacement. It's been that kind of weekend.

Your oven.. blew up? o_o How on earth did that happen?

Another person on my flist is warning me about the spoilers out there too - thankfully I haven't come across anything remotely similar to spoilers yet, but I have a feeling I may in the meantime.

I'm torn between taking a LJ break for the next few days or not. I think I'm too addicted to LJ -.-

If you get drop-dead-bored, you can always hop on over and read my journal. I ONLY get spoilers from YOU, dear [livejournal.com profile] cleolinda, and I won't be clicking them until AFTER the book comes out, so there's no need to worry on that count! Oh, and the 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Fudge' is just about uber-sugary Fudge of Death, not HP at all. Just in case you were wondering. ;)

Also, what...?!? about the oven! I hope you can get it fixed soon! Good Duck Luck!

OotP movie

From: [identity profile] sevenmarie.livejournal.com
i seriously think my favorite thing from the movie was how Dan acted whenever voldemort was breaking into harry's head.

the sort of "there's a bug on me" almost shuttering head roll

especially since int he book it says that his scar hurts and whenever i have a headache and it hurts up above my eye there i sort of do that same thing. i like pause and just hold my head still ad a funny angle until the pain goes away

but yeah i love the voldemort possession scene it was awesome

That was super awesome, especially since it reminded me of Voldemort's head roll in his "appearance" at the train.

I'm not surprised about spoilers leaking. Bookstores received the books on Friday. That gives more than ample time for employees to get their hands on them and into the hands of the wrong people. Which REALLY sucks. It doesn't help the books come in boxes that all say "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" DO NOT OPEN UNTIL JULY 21, 2007! But I suppose there will always be jerks who will want to spoil things for people.

I was looking forward to going back on Friday, but now I'm kind of dreading it, knowing there will probably be people walking around talking about the ending. Bastards.

I have a copy of the 7th book reserved. I'm rereading the first six right now to prepare. I'm in the Shrieking Shack in PoA and have GoF with me for when I finish. I have the next two days off, so I should be able to get through it. The problem is that I work on Saturdays. The bookstore that has my copy is having a midnight release. I'm tempted to go at midnight, get the book, give it to my boyfriend to read, and then just read it when I get off work. I don't expect it to take me too long.
This is why working weekends sucks.

It's very sad for me. I don't want to be spoiled... but I also will possibly explode from boredom at my job if I don't have the Internet to entertain me. I got spoiled for chapter titles... but I'm fine with that because that's the first thing I look at when I get a new book like Harry Potter.

Is it Saturday yet?

My sister and her boyfriend have managed to download a copy of DH already, and she's almost done reading it. She's not entirely sure how real it is, and I've threatened her with her life if she spoils me, whether it's real or not.

**SPOILER-ish!!**
(It's not actually a spoiler, but I would consider it spoilerish, so don't read it if you don't want).

She did however say that she thinks we'll be disappointed and she has no idea how the movie will work.

Re HP spoilers, book

Date: 2007-07-16 03:35 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] the-blue-fenix.livejournal.com
I can tell you that a complete manuscript was making the rounds starting 6-8 weeks ago among people who pirate e-books and spread them through Usenet. It wasn't actual "Deathly Hallows," though -- it was someone's fan fiction of how they want the series to end. The phrase "thanks to my beta readers X and Y" was something of a clue. So there's major BS out there as well.

Also some LJ people are doing "write reviews _as if_ you've read HP 7" as pure leg-pulling for entertainment rather than deception. So you may run across "spoilers" that are neither real nor spread with malicious intent.

Yeah, I'm trying to avoid all them, real, fake or otherwise. I just hate that feeling when you've heard something and you start reading and it's all you can think about, and it's all you can see in everything you read. I heard some bizarro "McGonagall dies, ttly tru!" "spoiler" last time, so of course every time she so much as coughed, I thought she was a goner.

How is it that I've been on the internets for, oh, nigh unto 18 years now (holy crap I'm old), and it never occurred to me that I'd have to worry about spoilers *before* the book actually came out? Have mercy. That was close! A thousand thanks! :)

Of course, now what to do until I have gotten and devoured the book? Knit, and drink heavily, I suppose. Sigh.

I'm hoping everyone on my friends list knows well enough that if they do purposely spoil the book for me, I will STAB THEM IN THE FACE. Somehow. Yes. *Crosses fingers regardless.*

Also, I am in the same "boat" as you with the X-Files movie. I loved the series, and then Season 8 and 9 happened and I just went, "wut" and it. Well, died, as you said. Sigh. I'm mildly intrigued by the thought of a second movie, but fear it's going to be not very good/never actually make it to theaters. :/
