Get your pimp requests in, kids, because today's the last day of Pimp Request Amnesty Week (although maybe I'll do another one next month):

From [livejournal.com profile] theonlykow: "So I normally don't ask for stuff like this, but it is your pimp week (apparently) and despite our pastry/confection disagreements, I ask for a pimp of my new layout community, [livejournal.com profile] not_layouts. I do layouts (pretty layouts! GORGEOUS LAYOUTS!) for people for free, and although I appreciate donations of paid time and whatnot, I really only do it because I have a shitload of creativity that I have no outlet for. Also, I love layouts. Also, I get bored easily."

From [livejournal.com profile] tabbyclaw: "I wouldn't pimp normally, but I don't think anyone who actually reads my journal watches "LOST" and I <3 debating about it, so here's my survey."

From [livejournal.com profile] sapphires13: "I'm trying to increase awareness of my graphics requests community [livejournal.com profile] morethanicons. We make just about everything, from icons, to wallpapers, to whatever. But business, so to speak, is slow. Advertising in promo communities full of people advertising their Paris Hilton infused rating communities, just isn't getting the job done. Nor is it bringing me the quality of requests that I desire."

And, since You Share It apparently both sucks and blows:

(http://www.dreamhost.com has a special where you get 2400MB of space, 120/mo GB of bandwidth, for $9.24--and that was the price for the year, not per month. You can still get it, if you sign up for a year and then put '777' in as the discount code. I keep trying to break my BW, but so far I haven't even hit the halfway mark.)

If you need 'em, they'll be here (http://sweetspontaneous.com/files/music/The%20Killers/). I thought I was the only one that was having trouble with the YouShareIt links...they took me almost an hour to download. But I wasn't going to bitch, because, hey, free music.

Duuuuuude. I may have to sign up for that just have a place to sock stuff away. My current domains--dailydigest.net and cleolinda.com--are actually hosted on Geocities, Webhost of Kings.

Oh, woman, you need me to hook you up. Not only can I get you better uptime, space and BW, I can probably do it for less than what you're paying. Hell, my main website is at a host (http://www.hostndezign.com/) that gives me 5 GB space and 80 GB bw a month, and costs me $5/mo. Plus, they're only down for about 5 minutes a month, if that. (And now that I've said that, they will crash and burn into oblivion.)

...okay, my inner geek just took over. Disregard her, she's squeeing right now about MySQL and writing code on the back of her hands.

See, the reason I like Geocities--or a souped-up Geocities disguised as my own domains--is because it's dead easy to use and update the pages. I use frickin' Page Builder. I'm kind of hopeless that way.

But it's the devil. Every time you use Page Builder, someone sacrifices a goat. Think of the goats!

[livejournal.com profile] boogieking loves Page Builder, so I can only mock it when he's not home, otherwise I get the Irritated Sigh and the Huge Eyeroll.

But... I don't like goats.

Yay [livejournal.com profile] boogieking! At least someone's got my back. And I'll admit, PB sucks. It's not like you can create terribly sophisticated web pages or anything on it. But when I was trying to do daily movie news updates, which were complicated enough to write, much less code, it was a lifesaver.

Well, he was all, "I want my site to let you stream videos from our gigs, and download 30-second clips and do fifty million other things, and I want you to teach me how to do all of this myself, but I want to be able to do it all in Page Builder.

Me: I...um. That's...wow. No.

MEN.

Actually, I could probably get by with Page Builder, but then how would I fulfill my need to waste hours on useless coding of things?

And one day, I will learn to log out/log in before I comment. But today is not that day.

Heh.

See, at least I understand the limitations. "I want to post text. And maybe some pictures." "Okay, we can do that!"

He actually asked me, "Where's the button in PB that'll let me add video to the site?" And then I told him that he was banned from the computer for the rest of the day.

I started with geocities and pagebuilder, but moved to something just as easy but a LOT more versitile that makes cleaner code. I now use mozilla suite. (http://www.mozilla.org/products/mozilla1.x/) The mozilla browser has a composer with it that i've been using for a couple years now and didn't need to know any html to get started. all the pages on both www.sh33pie.com and www.deadplanet.info were made with it.

I just realized I splatted two birds with one stone since i was going to ask you to pimp those sites anyway. ;)

Dead Planet (http://www.deadplanet.info) is a zombie conspiracy page that includes fiction, art, a zombie newspaper, horoscopes, loads of other stuff.

The Sh33p's Fluff (http://www.sh33pie.com) is my main site and home to loads of Daria fanfic, and other odd ends.

I can vouch that they rule. I used that package until I needed a reseller account. Damn multiple domains. But uh, if anyone is thinking about using them, yes, they are quality.

Yeah, they're not my main account, because, again, multiple domains. But their uptime's great, and the price is fantastic.
