So... I just got back from seeing King Arthur, and... Lord have mercy, those are some hot-ass men, let me tell you what. Damn.

Movie? There was a movie?

I so want this movie on DVD. It's one of those movies that I know is marginally decent, but love anyway. As for [livejournal.com profile] m15m, if you want to see the King Arthur one when I post it--seriously, I just got out of the theatre fifteen minutes ago, so it'll be a few hours at the very least--go ahead and join now, if you haven't already--not just friend it, join it--and by the time I have it up your membership should have damn well kicked in. I took notes in the dark, in this little bound notebook with a pen and pen-holder that my mother got me, because she knows what side her retirement bread is buttered on, oh yeah. Fortunately, I only took about two pages of notes, and mostly just scene titles, like "Stable of Faith." I'm planning on making this a much looser, more liberally adapted "Fifteen Minutes," so I want NO GRIPING about what did or did not get left out, because it's a parody, people, not a transcription for the Library of Congress.

(P.S. Having Lancelot narrate was TOTALLY, TOTALLY CHEATING.)

(BRIDE OF P.S. I have ALL the King Arthur pictures you need! Let the iconage begin [or, in the case of most of you, continue]!)

OMG. I want to have babies with Galahad and Gawain. Yes, I am a fifth-century slut. And I'm sending vibes of creativity your way for the Fifteen Minutes, as this movie was just so ripe for parody. I was just impressed that no one was ever cold even though they were, like, half-naked all the time. Good luck!

Can't wait to read it! It was totally cheesy, but oh those men!

I'm curious to see your parody... I like the tale of King Arthur, but it looked so dull. Well, except Kira as Guennivere(sp)... HOT DAMN!!!! WHOOOO!!!! If there was more of her, I'd be more than willing, but blah. We'll see.

It's amazing you can take notes in the theater. When I'm watching a movie in a theater I'm sucked into the story.

Date: 2004-07-11 03:56 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Well, I took very few notes. It was mostly just reminders of what order the scenes were in, like, "Stable, sad ironic song, 'Burn me,' vicious Saxons, Spider-Woads."

King Arthur is my new obsession! Who cares about the plot when you have dirty, sweaty men running around with swords!

I've been looking forward to King Arthur in 15 Minutes since I left the theatre.

I'm completely obsessed as well. I just got back from my second viewing, and have this nagging feeling that I'll be spending an awful lot of money on tickets to that film.

And I adore your icon - oh dear, that man is gorgeous! May I friend you?

Hey, I'm a girl who likes Keira, and I thought it was great. Although I kept wishing she'd pull that skimpy blue dress back up on her shoulder, because--having it hang down at her elbow like that was just pushing it. I mean, it's snowing--get the child some sleeves, damn.

Please tell me that at least once in your m15m you're going to refer to her as "Queen of the Wicker People."

Just once.

LMFAO!! Queen of the Wicker People, indeed!!

I have to say that this is the first version of the Camelot story where I didn't want to hit Lancelot with a lance... I wouldn't mind being the mother of his illegitimate children in the slightest! ;)

Sounds like a perfect movie - beautiful men for me, Keira K. for my fiance and inner lesbian. (An entity that I will introduce further on my blog, if anybody's interested.)

And as with the other movies, I'll cheat and read your m15m first.

(Hm. Perhaps I should change my icon so I won't be such a copycat...)

So you definitely recommend it? I've heard such awful things, but I love Hugh Dancy, who plays Galahad. I'm tempted just to see it for him. Well, Ioan is a plus, too.

As for movies, I can be easily amused, like with Troy, as long as there is enough pretty and action.

If you go in expecting a fairly decent movie with moments of silliness and scads of hot guys, this is the movie for you. Two thumbs up, fine holiday fun. :)

P.S. Galahad is HOT.

This may seem (heck, it may be) a dumb question, but how do I contact you 'bot posting access which I may never use?

'Cause I'm pretty sure I've posted at least once, possibly as many as four or five times, on the m15m community and I'd really like the chance to chime in when I feel especially inspired by your acid-literate wit, even if I rarely (or never) exercise it.

I was excitedly anticipating "King Arthur in 15 minutes" while I was in the theater -- that is, when the Monty Python dialogue wasn't invading my brain ... and when I wasn't unconscious from swooning over the yummy men.

Anyway, can't wait to read it. :)

Ahaahhaahhahahaha! Watching this Saturday night - I KNEW you would have a field day with it. But no, I wouldn't have kicked any of the knights out of bed, except maybe Bors - I mean, I liked him, but not my type. The Monty Python quotes will be very difficult to avoid, though, if you mean to try.

From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Except for the part where I've never seen Monty Python's Holy Grail. In that sense, the quotes ought to be pretty easy to avoid. ;)

Having Lancelot narrate was totally totally cheating because didn't he totally totally die at the end? That was him, right? Or was it Sir Not Appearing in this Picture? This movie made me hurt in ways I should not have to hurt.

Haven't seen it yet, but I've got two free passes to the theatre, so as soon as it's been out long enough that theys tart accepting free passes, I'll probably go see it. Not because I like King Arthur - I got *way* burned out on Arthuriana when I was a teenager - but because I'm a fan of the Romans-in-Britain and I want to go see all the Roman stuff.

Date: 2004-07-12 05:53 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cleolinda.livejournal.com
Honestly? There is no Arthuriana at all. It's Romans, Sarmatians, Woads and Saxons. No Morgan, no Mordred, no Camelot, no nothin'. I like the cheesy King Arthur movies from the '40s and '50s, but I really liked this as well--at least it was something fresh, you know?

Just saw the movie last night and if you didn't start writing it, I was going to beg PROFUSELY as my friend and I left the theater giggling.

Honestly...the perpetually stoned Saxon leader - swear to all that is holy I expected to see a scene where he was doing bong hits and getting the munchies mid battle.

That and lovely little Kiera sporting her cargo hipsters, doing her "I'm so intense, yes I am" squinty looks with Merlin's smurfalicious army. Though, admittedly, Legolas is still prettier ;)

It screams for parody - loved every moment. *roots you on*

Yeah Ihave been eagerly awaiting the King Arthur m15m since I left the theater! It did piss me off however that they took out the legendary love triangle! Dorky history buff alert! BRING BACK LANCELOT!!!!
