ETA: I have the IP numbers of both comments; they're the same. From an ISP in New Zealand, of all places. (Given how much money I have spent on the Lord of the Rings movies and associated merchandise, I feel deeply betrayed.) (That's a joke, people.) The IP does NOT match Self-Confidence Boy's comment, so it's not directly related to the ff.net kerfluffle.

I know a lot of people visit from non-LJ links, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to turn off anonymous comments here and at m15m until things settle down, because if you want to accuse me of something, you can damn well have the balls to leave a name.

The second one is just ignorant of the law, but the first one is actively trying to pass it off as her own - "I'm just borrowing them, etc." If anyone else has time on their hands, just take a phrase from the first couple of lines of any of Cleo's parodies and you'll be disgusted at what you find. On the up side, I came across quite a few sites doing the right thing; either only including a few snippets with a link, or acknowledging Cleo and providing a link. Cleo - you'll be pleased to know there's even a Swedish HP fan site who love it! (They still had it in English - obviously hadn't gone to the effort of translating it like the other one I found. Did you ever find out what language that was?)

Once more, if Cleo or anyone else thinks I'm wrong to be putting these links here, just comment and I'll remove it.

People are such jackasses when they're bored and have nothing to do. I know how frustrating it is to have your work stolen. Once, I had just had my icons stolen by someone online and claimed it as her own, I noticed she stole from others as well. When I tried to warn others in turn, someone accused me of using a friend's templates without credit even though the templates were a completely different size from my icons. I'll stop babbling.

To that end, I would like to recommend a site. Creative Commons (http://creativecommons.org/). It's not overly official but this way, you're registered somewhere public for people to know. Hope that helps. If not, just know there are a lot of people to vouch for you.

I've been following these antics for the past few days and I have to say I have never been more disgusted at the American Education System as I have been seeing it in action. I was originally linked by a friend to your Harry Potter m15m, who in turn got it from some potter site, so I understand it's widespread, but I don't get how people don't see that widespread doesn't mean "This is Up for Grabs Just for You to Steal for your Very Own!". >.> I was disgusted further at my ISP provider who didn't allow me to be there in time to flame your first offender. Now I'm even more disgusted at my sisters for coming into town and not allowing me to be here in time to flame this second one!! (Yes that last bit is a joke...I'm really just mad that they didn't bring me any more miniatures of Smeagol ; ; )

I truly hope everything gets resolved with the ISP and with your anonymous 'OMG UR TEH STEELER' buddies. Just remember, so many people are stealing your work because you're just that good! I stumbled across your LJ by doing a search or something, and discovered your Movies In 15 Minutes. I love them!! The Harry Potter and the Van Helsing were ultra funny.. and thats about all I got to read because it was 2 in the morning. But now I can't seem to find the Harry Potter one, and when I looked it up in Memories (you left a link on one of your entries), it said that I "didn't have authorization".
