The latter is a signed copy of A Harlequin Valentine, which I don't think has been mentioned anywhere else, so: EXCLUSIVE. This in addition to the five copies of a signed/personalized Unseen Academicals that Sir Terry Pratchett is donating, as mentioned yesterday, and some prizes from The Guild folks, although I have no idea yet what they are. Oh, and at least one signed copy of the Movies in Fifteen Minutes paperback, which is wayyyyyyyy down there on the squee! scale, but it's there nonetheless. And, as I will mention again: a lightsaber. You can totally win a lightsaber.

(This came together really fast, so a few things haven't quite shaken out, and not all the prize donors are listed yet; they're in the process of updating the scrolly widget. But, I mean, I personally managed not to have a panic attack and die contacted some of them, so I know for a fact that we have some really great people chipping in. You'll love it, I promise.)

ETA: This isn't up yet, but Peter David is also donating "Tigerheart, which is a Peter Pan pastiche, and a GN of the Sir Apropos of Nothing comic series." Yay and thanks!

And on USA Weekend: Harry Potter fans unite to help Haiti. 
 
I do want to give people credit, though--it's not just Harry Potter fandom doing this, although it's hosted on a Harry Potter fansite; and this isn't THE fandom fundraiser. A fandom donation war between ontd_startrek and ontd_ai  raised $17,002 and $20,863, respectively. Misha Collins from Supernatural rounded up his Twitter minions and raised $26,251. And then on top of that, there's the help_haiti fanwork auction community. So fandom as a whole has been really, really great through this whole thing, and the LiveJournal fan comms have done themselves proud.

I heard they might put RPattz on the phone bank, too. Can you imagine the disaster? The entire phone system will crash under the load of fan girls dialing and re-dialing, in the hopes of hearing his (sparkly) voice!

I also feel sorry for any parents of young girls tonight. All the promoters need to do is put RPattz out there, make him look sad and ask for money for Haiti, and there go the millions.

If you're at all creative, or just have geeky stuff you're willing to part with, you can offer up something for auction at help_haiti. The first auction is over, but they'll be doing another one later in the winter.

I donated an art commission, as I too am too poor to donate cash, but at least I can create things. :)

Do some research in your area...I know a local ice cream chain in my town is gathering food/water donations, for example. There are plenty of ways to get involved even if you don't have actual cash to spare.

Look up your local tv/radio/newspaper on the web and give them a call. I'm sure they will point you in the direction of a local area drive. :D

Srsly, if I wasn't broke from having to relocate cross-country in November, I'd be doing more. A local ice cream chain here in NE Ohio has been collecting food, water, and items for Haiti in addition to monetary donations, and it is just amazing how many people are donating food/water because they don't have the actual cash to donate, but can spare a bag of non-perishable grocery items or a 12 pk of bottled water from their cupboards.

There's a Canadian drive going on tonight as well (and starts in half an hour, sorry for the late warning) @ 7pm ET. Lots of Canadian celebs, but I don't think they will be answering phones. Instead, they'll concert performances and speaking and such.

The website said the info would be up on Friday, but I don't see any changes from last night. If you have any info, could you let us know? Thanks!!!!
